HAVE PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. *TR
THE RADIATOR ON MY PATHFINDER HAS CRACKED AND ALLOWED COOLANT TO GET INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS HAS RUINED NOT ONLY MY RADIATOR BUT ALSO MY TRANSMISSION. *TR
ONE MORNING ON THE WAY TO DAYCARE MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER COULD NOT SHIFT ABOVE FIRST GEAR. I DROVE 8-10MPH WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON TO THE DEALERSHIP, NISSAN OF PORTLAND (122ND AVE). THEY TOLD ME IT HAD CROSS CONTAMINATION DUE TO A "KNOWN FAULTY PART" BUT THAT MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED IN DECEMBER. I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THAT DEALERSHIP 18 MONTHS AGO. THEY DID NOT TELL ME AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE ABOUT THIS DEFECT NOR ABOUT THE WARRANTY, RATHER WAITED UNTIL THEY COULD CHARGE ME $5100.00 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. THIS IS SO WRONG! NISSAN CORPORATE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR NOT FIXING THIS FOR FREE WHENEVER IT MANIFESTS ITSELF (OR BEFORE) AND DEALERS CAN NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL CARS WITHOUT DISCLOSING KNOWN MATERIAL DEFECTS. NISSAN NEEDS TO FORMALLY RECALL SEVERAL VEHICLES WITH RADIATOR/ TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IN MY CASE WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAME TO A STOP WHILE I WAS ON THE ROAD DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH. MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND I TRIED TO TURN ON LUCKILY IT TURNED ON AND BEGAN TO RUN AGAIN. I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR IT DID NOT RUN MORE THAN 20 MPH. I DECIDED TO TOW MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED SINCE I WAS TERRIFIED OF IT SHUTTING DOWN ONCE AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED MY VEHICLE AND CONCLUDED THAT FLUID FROM THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. NONETHELESS, HE EXPRESSED TO ME THAT THIS WAS NOTHING NEW HE HAD SEEN WITH THESE VEHICLES. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD FIXED A COUPLE IN JUST THIS LAST YEAR. ACCORDING TO HIS...
THIS IS A ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) ISSUE. MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER IS STALLING AT LOW ENGINE SPEEDS, RED LIGHTS, DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 65K MILES AND HAS HAD FOUR (4) ECM REPLACED. MY LAST ONE WENT BAD THREE HOURS AFTER DRIVING OUT OF A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE I SPENT $1300 TO REPLACE IT. NISSAN REFUSES TO PAY FOR IT STATING THEY ALREADY REPLACED ONE VIA RECALL AND "THINGS FAIL". *TR
ME AND MY 6 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WERE GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND WAS LIKE IT HAD BEEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. MY BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING PROPERLY BUT I GOT US OFF THE ROAD AND HAD THE CAR TOWED. AFTER OUR REPAIR GUY CHECKED ALL THE WIRING AND RAN TEST AND PULLED THE TRANSMISSION PAN OFF THE RADIATOR COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION FULL RESULTING IN THE GEARS MESSING UP AND THE ENTIRE CAR UNDRIVEABLE. WE KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAD CONTACTED NISSAN 6 MONTHS PRIOR TO CHECK THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN FIXED....OBVIOUSLY NOT. IF IT HAD BEEN FIXED IT WASN'T FIXED PROPERLY OR IT WOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AGAIN MANY TRIPS HAVE BEEN TAKEN SINCE THEN AND NOW WE ARE OVER 100,000 MILES AND IT'S A $3800 FIX BECAUSE NISSAN EITHER LIED AND IT WAS NEVER FIXED...
I BEGAN TO HEAR A NOISE AND HESITATION IN GEAR CHANGE. TOLD TIRES BUT CONTINUE TO HEAR. HAD A OIL CHANGE AT TWIN CITY NISSAN. REP ADVICE COOLANT IN TRANSMISSION WOULD CHARGE $3000 TO REPAIR AND WARRANTY ON RADIATOR EXPIRES SOON. RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION AND FLUIDS FLUSHED FOR $3000 COST TO ME. I HAD THE VEHICLE'S TIRES REPLACED AND WITHIN A FEW DAYS THERE WAS A SHUDDER LIKE RUMBLE STRIPS. I TOOK THE PATHFINDER BACK TO HAVE THE TIRES LOOKED AT. REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARINGS. THE SHUDDER STILL PERSISTED. I TALKED TO A FRIEND WHO OWNS A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE RADIATOR LEAK/TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. HE SAID TO CHECK THE ENGINE COOLANT FOR MILKINESS AND SEARCH ONLINE. THE COOLANT IS MILKY AND AFTER READING ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS, MY FAMILY IS SCARED TO USE THE PATHFINDER. I THINK A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING BECAUSE OF FAILURE OF THE COOLING SYSTEM NOT WEAR AND TEAR. A FAILING TRANSMISSION IS MORE LIKELY TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAN A FAILING COOLING SYSTEM. ALSO, NISSAN'S EXTENDED WARRANTY SEEMS TO END TO EARLY TO BE EFFECTIVE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MECHANIC SAID O2 SENSORS WERE BAD, & REPLACE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF FOR A FEW DAYS. CAME BACK ON. THEN SUV STARTED RUNNING ROUGHLY, LOSING POWER. VDC/SLIP LIGHT CAME ON, TRUCK WAS DIFFICULT TO START, THEN IT CUT OFF IN TRAFFIC A FEW DAYS LATER. FOUND RESEARCH ON ECM RELAY. HAD IT REPLACED,TRUCK STILL HAVING DIFFICULTY STARTING. TODAY IT CUT OFF IN TRAFFIC AGAIN. MECHANIC SAID CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CMP BANK 1 BAD, CATALYTIC CONVERTER BANK 1 & 2 BAD. FUEL SYSTEM FAULTY AND IGNITION SYSTEM FAULTY. STILL PAYING ON TRUCK. *TR
THE VEHICLE BEGAN A SLIGHT SHUDDER WHEN SHIFTING AND WITHIN A FEW DAYS WHILE PASSING A TRUCK ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH IT SHIFTED VERY HARD AND RESPONDED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. ANY APPLICATION OF THE ACCELERATOR CAUSED HIGH RPM BUT GAVE NO ADDITIONAL POWER. I WAS FORCED TO PUT ON MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND MANEUVER THROUGH THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC AS I HAD LOST ALL POWER AND COULD NOT WAS JUST COASTING ALONG THE FREEWAY. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT FORTUNATELY ENDED SAFELY NO THANKS TO THE CAR. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS TO FAIL. AFTER SPENDING $1000.00 ON THE FIRST REPAIRS TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION 3 TIMES IT RAN FOR A WEEK AND BEGAN SHIFTING VERY HARD AGAIN. IT IS NOW IN...
NISSAN DEALERSHIP JUST DIAGNOSED THAT MY RADIATOR WAS LEAKING INTO MY TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS PROBLEMATIC BECAUSE THE RADIATOR COOLANT HAS DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION. IN APRIL OF 2014, I HAD MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY HAD FLUSHED AND REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION FLUID. *TR

ALL OF MY EXPERIENCE WITH MY TRANSMISSION FAILURE TOOK PLACE ON THE ROAD WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHICH WAS UNSAFE AND SCARY JULY 2014 - PRESENT. FIRST, THE TRUCK DEVELOPED A "BUCKING" MOVEMENT WHENEVER IT WAS DRIVEN. THE BUCKING MOVEMENT IS SIMILAR TO A CAR THAT IS TRYING TO SHIFT GEARS LIKE A MANUAL CAR, BUT THE TRANSITION BETWEEN GEARS WAS NOT SMOOTH. GRADUALLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY, WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR STARTED MAKING REVVING NOISES LIKE A RACE CAR, WHILE THE SPEED IS ONLY 20MPH. THE SPEED DROPPED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD YOU ARE PRESSING ON THE GAS. TO DECREASE THE REVVING NOISE YOU CANNOT DRIVE ABOVE 40MPH. AS ALWAYS I RELY ON THE DEALERSHIP TO SERVICE MY CAR, AND AT FIRST THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DID NOT SHOW THE COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I'M ONE OF MANY VICTIMS THAT HAVE ENDURED FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNITS AND INACCURATE GAS GAUGES THAT CAUSE ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WITH SUCH A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, IT IS A PURE SCAM THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. NISSAN SIMPLY EXTENDS THE WARRANTY TO 72,000 MILES, WHICH DOES NOTHING TO HELP THE THOUSANDS OF VICTIMS WITH MORE MILEAGE. WAS INFORMED BY TECHNICIAN "RADIATOR COOLER IS LEAKING COOLANT INTO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION". TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDS TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY, RADIATOR WITH RADIATOR CAP, AND FLUSH COOLER LINES. THE TORQUE CONVERTER IN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I NOTICED THE VEHICLE STUTTERING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS DURING MY TIME ON THE ROAD. I HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CHECK IT AND A NISSAN DEALER CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS. I WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON-LINE SIMILAR TO MINE; THE 2005 MODEL SHOWED THE MOST PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I DON'T HAVE THE $5,000 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE COMPANY EXTENDED SOME WARRANTIES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT ALL HAD EXPIRED OR I HAD TOO MANY MILES (131,000), AND A COPAY OF $3000 WAS REQUIRED. NOT MUCH OF AN OFFER FROM A LARGE THRIVING COMPANY. *TR
I GOT MY OIL CHANGED AT TEAM NISSAN IN LITHIA SPRINGS, AND ON THE 2ND DAY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE MY 2005 PATHFINDER OVERHEATED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED TEAM NISSAN AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY APOLOGIZE AND TO BRING IT IN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR AND THE CRANK SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,115.
VEHICLE WAS STOP AT RED LIGHT OF VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND THEN WOULD ONLY COAST IN NEUTRAL WHILE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT ENGAGING. WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN WERE STUCK IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON TO GET TRANSMISSION TO RE-ENGAGE AND DRIVE. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED A HALF DOZEN MORE TIMES. THIS OWNER TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND WAS CHARGED FOR COMPUTER ANALYSIS. THIS OWNER WAS TOLD THERE WAS A "KNOWN" ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE BEING CONTAMINATED FROM INNER COOLER. THIS OWNER WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST OVER $5500 TO FIX. THIS OWNER DID INTENSE RESEARCH ON SAFETY AND MECHANICAL PROBLEM AND FOUND THOUSANDS OF NISSAN OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR "KNOWN" ISSUE. *TR

AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACED TWICE (3/12 AND 10/12) AS I WAS DRIVING 65 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY, ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD CAME ON, CAR DIED. I HAD NO POWER AND SOMEHOW MANAGED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY SLOWING FOR THE LENGTH BETWEEN TWO EXITS UNTIL I COULD STEER INTO GUARDRAIL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND NOTICE A DEFECTIVE EMS RELAY. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE EMS RELAY. AFTER THE REPAIR THE CONTACT NOTICED NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR I FELT LIKE I WAS RIDING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS IN THE ROAD. THE ROAD WAS SMOOTH, SO THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION FAILED AT INTERSECTION LEAVING VEHICLE UNABLE TO MOVE. PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY RADIATOR FLUID MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. I CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY DENIED ANY CLAIM FOR REPAIRS. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE AND SETTLED THE CLAIMS FOR A SMALL NUMBER OF PEOPLE. ON JULY 25, 2013 THE CAR MADE A SKIPPING SOUND WHEN I TURNED IT ON AND A FEW DAYS PRIOR IT WOULD MAKE A ROLLING ACTION WHEN STOPPED.
