Fuel level sending unit failed with code. Fuel gauge shows empty or at 1/4 full when full.
1. The fuel pump and fuel sensor suddenly stopped working without prior notice while driving down the road. 2. Sudden loss of power while driving creates a dangerous situation. 3. An independent service center stated that "Nissan Corp. had a recall on fuel pump sensors. 4. The fuel pump and fuel sensor were replaced. 5. I called Nissan Corp, but they said that vehicle did not qualify for a recall of the fuel sensor.
UNINTENDED VEHICLE ACCELERATION WHILE MAKING U-TURN. 90% SURE IT WAS NOT MY BIG FEET. STOPPED AND STARTED CAR AND IT SEEMED FINE. DROVE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT.

JUST FINISHED READING THROUGH 23 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS GOING BACK TO 2008 REGARDING FAILURE OF THE FUEL LEVEL SENDER UNIT--PRIMARILY ON 2007 NISSAN FRONTIERS. MINE FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 69,000 MILES IN FEBRUARY 2020, WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS THAT NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCED: UPON FILLING THE TANK, THE GAUGE WOULD DROP TO ZERO, THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE AS WOULD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT--MY CODE READER DISPLAYED A 463 CODE, FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE. THE GAUGE WOULD GRADUALLY GO TO FULL, AND OPERATE NORMALLY UNTIL IT READ JUST UNDER HALF FULL, WHEN IT WOULD AGAIN DROP TO ZERO. WHILE THE FAILURE FELL WITHIN THE 72000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY, THE YEAR DIDN'T, SO NISSAN REFUSED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS. I HAVE TO JOIN THE CHORUS OF 2007 FRONTIER OWNERS WONDERING WHY IDENTICAL 2006 AND 2008 MODELS--WITH EXACTLY THE SAME SENDER--WERE SUBJECT TO A SAFETY RECALL, BUT NOT THE 2007S. IT'S AN...
GAS GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER ACCURATELY. EXAMPLE BEING WHEN TANK IS EMPTY IT STILL READS 1 QUARTER FULL.
THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT FOR FRONTIERS ABOUT THIS AGE. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTEE A FEW YEARS AGO, BUT IT WASN'T LONG ENOUGH TO COVER THE DEFECT. NOW THE SENDING UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR THE FUEL GAUGE TO WORK, AND THE WHOLE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE DROPPED TO DO IT. NISSAN OUGHT TO COVER THIS KNOWN ISSUE WITH A FULL RECALL, NOT JUST AN EXTENDED WARRANTEE.
CONTINUES AIRBAG PROBLEMS. FROM THE SATELLITE AIRBAG SENSORS BEING RUSTY AND WATER INTRUSION TO THE OCCUPANT AIR BAG SENSOR. I HAVE ALSO HAD CONTINUOUS MISFIRES THAT HAVE CAUSED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON BANK 1 TO FAIL

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
MY FRONTIER WAS INVOLVED IN A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RECALL IN 2010 AND WAS NEVER REPLACED.THE CEL CAME ON TODAY(10/17/2018).I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THE WARRANTY ON THAT PART WAS INCREASED 72;000 MILES OR THREE YEARS.SO AS OF TODAY IT IS EXPIRED.I THOUGHT IF A PART WAS UNDER RECALL IT WAS FOR THE LIFE OF VEHICLE. I WORKED AT THIS DEALERSHIP FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS AND NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS.IF A PART IS DEFECTIVE DOES IT MATTER WHEN IT FAILS?

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,077.
GAS GAUGE SHOWS AS EMPTY EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A FULL TANK. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. WAS A RECALL IN 2010 CONCERNING THIS ISSUE ALTHOUGH NISSAN SAYS IT'S NOT A CAMPAIGN SERVICE. WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT SYMPTOMS FOR THE RECALL ARE EXACTLY THE ISSUE I HAVE. HAVE HAD THE ISSUE FOR OVER 7 YEARS. HAVE CONTACTED DEALER AND NISSANUSA AND BOTH DENY THE RECALL.
FUEL GUAGE DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY. SOMETIMES IT SHOW THE RIGHT LEVEL AND OTHER TIMES IT SHOWS EMPTY OR SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN. RAN OUT OF FUEL THE OTHER DAY ON THE HIGHWAY. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS FOR 2006 -2008, BUT IT SAYS MY VIN NUMBER DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS.

FUEL GAUGE NOT MOVING TO FULL, AS GAS TANK GOT REFILLED. IT SHOWS EMPTY AFTER REFILL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES. SOMETIMES STAY EMPTY UNTIL GAS OUT, NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. HARD TO TELL IF EMPTIED OR NOT. NEED RPAIR. MY TRUCK IS ONLY 40000 WHEN THIS HAPPENED, NOW ITS AT 60000 MILES. REPAIR WILL COST OVER $600 IF ONLY REPLACING INSIDE TANK FUEL GAUGE.
MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB HAS 107K MILES AND FOR UNKNOWN REASONS THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL NOT RESET. THIS IS UNSAFE BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT WORK IN AN ACCIDENT. ALSO THE FUEL GAUGE IS MALFUNCTIONING.

IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL, THE FUEL SENSOR GAUGE REMAINED ON EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR, O RING, AND CLIP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
OUR 07 NISSAN FRONTIER WAS BEING DRIVEN TO BE INSPECTED FOR REGISTRATION WHEN, AT A STOP LIGHT, IT JUST TURNED OFF AND WOULD NOT START. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC. HE HAD TO SEND IT TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR THE COMPUTER TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED. ACCORDING TO THIS MECHANIC, THE LEAK FROM THE RADIATOR HAS MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING ALL THESE COMPONENTS TO FAIL AND NEED REPLACING. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!
NEVER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FOR FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT/FLOAT PROBLEM - DEALER/NISSAN WILL NOT HONOR OLDER RECALL SO THEY SAY I MUST PAY FOR REPAIR
FUEL GAUGE IS NOT ACCURATE OR INDICATES EMPTY WITH FUEL WARNING LIGHT DISPLAYED, EVEN WHEN TANK IS FULL. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT IT IS A DEFECTIVE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR REPAIR BY NISSAN. RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, UNEXPECTEDLY ON THE HIGHWAY COULD HAVE VERY DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES.
FUEL GAUGE DROPPED FROM FULL TO BELOW EMPTY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DIAGNOSED WITH P0463 ERROR CODE, FUEL SENSOR UNIT MALFUNCTION. IT APPEARS THAT NISSAN HAS REPLACED THE UNIT ON 2006 & 2008 UNITS, BUT FOR SOME REASON FAILED TO ADDRESS THE 2007 MODEL YEAR. VEHICLE HAS 54K MILES. THIS COULD CREATE SAFETY ISSUE IF SOMEONE RUNS OUT OF FUEL DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC.

NOTED RECALL 10V075000 APPARENTLY COVERS THIS EXACT PROBLEM BUT 2007 MODEL YEAR NOT INCLUDED. SERVICE BULLETIN NTB-07-069C ALSO NOTES ISSUE OF DEFECTIVE OEM PART USED BY NISSAN IN MANUFACTURE OF VEHICLE, BUT ONLY RECOURSE IS TO REPLACE AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. NOTE OVER 150 SEPARATE COMPLAINTS UNDER VARIOUS CATEGORIES FOR THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM. SEEMS LIKE A VALID SAFETY ISSUE REQUIRING A VOLUNTARY RECALL BY NISSAN FOR AFFECTED VEHICLES OR A MANDATORY RECALL BY NHTSA.

I TOOK MY TRUCK TO TEMECULA NISSAN AND HAD IT CHECK, THEY TOLD ME MY AIR BAG WOULD NOT OPEN IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, FAULTY SPIRAL CABLE-P1564,FAULTY VENT CONTROL VALVE-P0448, FAULTY FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT- P0463 THIS ARE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED, SOME OF THEM ARE ON A RECALL LIST BUT I WAS TOLD IT EXPIRED. SO I COULD DIE BEHIND THIS. *CN
NISSAN SOLD ME A NEW TRUCK WITH A DESIGN FLAW, A FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS SAID I HAVE TO TAKE THE TRUCK WITH THE DESIGN FLAW (E.G. FAILED FUEL SENDING UNIT) TO A NISSAN DEALER AND PAY TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED (THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS ALREADY KNOWN TO ME AS BEING THE DESIGN FLAW OF A FAILED FUEL SENDING UNIT) AFTER WHICH THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE TO SEE IF THEY CAN PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO REPAIR IT THOUGH THEY ADMITTED AFTER CHECKING MY VIN THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY INSTANCE THAT WOULD COVER THE REPAIR (E.G. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO REPAIR IT). THE BOTTOM LINE IS I PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN FRONTIER WHICH I HAD MAINTAINED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC (NOT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP) AND IT CAME WITH A DESIGN FLAW (E.G. FUEL SENDING UNIT) THAT THEY WANT ME TO PAY OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS TO HAVE...

THIS FAILURE REQUIRES ME TO WATCH MILEAGE BY USING TRIP ODOMETER TO MONITOR WHEN TO PURCHASE FUEL. COULD ALSO CAUSE FAILURE OF EMISSIONS TEST AS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THIS WOULD BE AN UNNECESSARY FINANCIAL BURDEN TO FIX AS WELL AS HAVING A FAILURE OF THE EMISSIONS TEST BASED ON THE FUEL SENDING UNIT NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND NOT FROM EXCESSIVE EMISSIONS OR OTHER EMISSIONS CONTROL PARTS. EMISSIONS TESTS ARE $50-70 PER ATTEMPT WITH DYNO RUNS. ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS $5-750.00 FOR LABOR AND MATERIALS. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW 7/07 WITH 50 MILES ON IT AS IT WAS DELIVERED FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. CURRENTLY HAS 61,000 MILES. VEHICLE RUNS PERFECT OTHERWISE. WOULD LIKE NISSAN TO AT LEAST SEND THE REPLACEMENT PART (@ $250).
FUEL GAGE INDICATED THAT I HAD A BIT LESS THAN 1/2 TANK OF FUEL. RUN OUT OF FUEL AS THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS DISPLAYING THE WRONG AMOUNT OF FUEL SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A P0463 CODE DEFECTIVE FUEL SENDING UNIT. CALLED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA FOR SUPPORT WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER IN ORDER FOR NISSAN TO HONOR THE WARRANTY. SPENT $106 DOLLARS THE FIRST TIME AT THE SHOP AND THEN $104 AT THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER AFFAIRS I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS NOT COVERED, THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED, IT ONLY HAS 33K MILES...THIS IS A LARGER...
TRAVELING ALONG HWY 209 IN BIGFORK, MT, I NOTICED MY GAS GAUGE NEEDLE DROP FROM 1/2 TANK TO BELOW ZERO AND IMMEDIATELY THE FUEL LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. A MILE DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE STALLED AND HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY PULL-OVER WITH MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THANKFULLY, THE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT THAT DAY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY, AND I HAD CELL SERVICE. I CALLED MY HUSBAND AND LET HIM KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. HE BROUGHT GAS AND, SURE ENOUGH, THE TRUCK STARTED ONCE AGAIN, BUT DID NOT REGISTER FUEL AGAIN UNTIL I FILLED THE TANK COMPLETELY. IT CONTINUES TO REPEAT THIS CYCLE WHERE IT WILL REGISTER UNTIL A CERTAIN FUEL LEVEL AND THEN THE NEEDLE WILL DIVE TO BELOW EMPTY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. AFTER FILLING UP THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL AND DRIVING, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED TO DROP TOWARDS EMPTY. THE FAILURE CORRECTED ITSELF, BUT THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE SENDER INSIDE THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,549.
MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER IS EXPERIENCING WHAT MANY OTHER FRONTIER TRUCK OWNER ARE EXPERIENCING...THE DREADED INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE READINGS ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I AM BLOWN AWAY THAT NISSAN HAS NOT HAD THE COURAGE TO ORDER A RECALL ON THIS WELL KNOWN ISSUE. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL NOT RESULT IN A NUMBER OF FATALITIES BEFORE THEY "DO THE RIGHT THING". VERY UNFORTUNATE AND A POOR FORM OF CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR OWNERS WHO WILL MOST LIKELY SEEK A DIFFERENT BRAND AS THERE NEXT PURCHASE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS DUE TO FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR SENDING UNIT. COST: $511. *TR THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT I COULD RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND POSSIBLY BECOME INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. *TR
