The timing chain has gone out. Other crankshaft sensor went out while driving the vehicle at about 30mph.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated. The contact then stated that the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast the vehicle off the roadway. The contact then stated that the check engine warning light intermittently flashed upon start-up then remained illuminated. The contact stated that he allowed the engine time to cool down then restarted the vehicle; however, after the vehicle was restarted, he depressed the accelerator pedal to regain speed but two to three minutes later the vehicle stalled again. The contact stated that occasionally, after the vehicle stalled, the vehicle was jumpstarted, but the negative side of the battery sparked from the cable. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE ECM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND PROGRAMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE THEN WAS THEN TAKEN TO NISSAN AT THE AVENUES (10859 PHILIPS HWY, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32256) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,010.
WAS ON A VACATION TRIP DECEMBER 6, 2019(FRIDAY). TRAVELING ON FOLEY BEACH EXPRESS AND THE ENGINE STARTED SHACKING, FELT LIKE WAS FALLING APART, ENGINE DIED.TRIED TO RESTART ENGINE, CRANKED AND IMMEDIATELY STOPPED, TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND AND THE SAME THING EVERY TIME. HAD TO PUSH OFF EXPRESS WAY, WITH HELP. FORTUNALLY WAS A MECHANIC. HE SAID SEAMED AS WAS NOT GETTING FUEL. FUTHER CHECKING MORE THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS IN THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) OR THE (ECM) RELAY. I AM BROKE DOWN 190 MILES FROM HOME. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING , ABOUT 10 MILES TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY NOT A TREE OR CAR INSIGHT , I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A LOUD POP / I HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS , NOT A TIRE OR ANYTHING I LOOK UP AND SEE MY SUNROOF SHATTERED
TRANSMISSION DAMAGE CAUSED BY TRANSMISSION COOLER.
THE DEALER TOLD ME THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A WHIRRING SOUND
TIMING CHAIN HAS TO BE REPAIRED AT LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN WAS JUST COMPLETED ROLAND TELLIS BARON & BUDD ATTORNEYS FOR OWNERS OF NISSAN FRONTIERS IN THE STATES OF CALIFORNIA AND WASHINGTON WHERE OWNERS ARE TO BE REIMBURSED EXPENSE OF REPLACING FAULTY FRONTIER TIMING CHAIN THAT NISSAN MANUFACTURER ALLEGEDLY KNEW WERE IN THE TRUCKS THAT THEY HAD SOLD. IN THE SUIT IT STATES THAT IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 120K MILES ON YOUR VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER THAT REPLACING TIMING CHAIN AT 50K MILES IS NORMAL. I BELIEVE THEY MISPRESENTED THE TRUTH IN THIS INSTANCE AND THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A REPAIR THAT IS A RESULT OF MANUFACTURER ERROR. RECENTLY ENGINE STALLED IN THE INTERSECTION, I WAS LUCKY THE CHAIN HAD NOT SHATTERED AND DESTROYED MY ENGINE.

MY TRUCK JUST REACHED 80,800 MILES AND IT HAS LOST POWER. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND IT CAME BACK WITH THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION AND THE FUEL PUMP ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME I HAD NO WARRANTY ON ANY OF THESE PARTS AS OF 2010 AND THEY QUOTED ME ALMOST $7,000 TO REPLACE ALL. AFTER GOING HOME AND LOOKING UP TRANSMISSION SHOPS I FOUND HUNDREDS OF ARTICLES ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THOUSANDS OF NISSAN CARS. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE OF RECALL ON MY TRUCK. THEN I FIND THEY HAVE SNEAKILY EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY WITHOUT NOTIFYING US AND NOW MY TRUCK IS 12YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 80,800 MILES AND I NEED TO COME UP WITH $7,000 BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO NOTIFY THEIR CLIENTS ABOUT THEIR MISTAKES.
THE SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT CAME OFF 4/26/17, 12/7/17, AND 2/10/18 . WHEN IT WAS REINSTALLED ON 12/7/17 THE MECHANIC SAID THEY FOUND A REFERENCE THAT SAID NISSAN HAS NEW SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT KIT AVAILABLE AND IF CAME OFF AGAIN THEY RECOMMENDED I GET THE NEW KIT INSTALLED. ALL THREE TIMES THE BELT CAME OFF WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE IN MY DRIVEWAY. SEVERAL TIMES IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS SLIPPING WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS AFTER STOPPING FOR A STOP SIGN PRIOR TO THE 3D TIME IT CAME OFF.AFTER STOPPING
AFTER 2 AND A HALF MONTHS OF FIGHTING WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, NISSAN HAS BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ME OR THE OTHER PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE OR THEIR SAFETY. AS SAD AS IT SOUNDS ITS GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE THEY OPEN THEIR EYES.
THE RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION, MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CREATING A TOXIC FLUID THAT IRREVERSIBLY DAMAGED EVERYTHING AROUND IT. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN FIRST NOTICED. I HAD THE RADIATOR REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AT MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I COULD NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SO FLUSHING IT WAS MY ONLY OPTION. IT LASTED FOR A FEW YEARS BUT NOW IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT HAS AFFECTED THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS.
TRUCK CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING NO MATTER WHAT SPEED YOUR AT. HAVE TO WAIT A FEW SECONDS TO GET IT TO START AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED THE NEXT DAY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED A WEEK LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR LIQUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSIS AND REPLACED A FAULTY SENSOR. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AGAIN, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TRANSMISSION CROSS CONTAMINATION WITH COOLANT. 72,000 MILES ON ODOMETER. HAD TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING FULL SPEED, FORCING ME TO QUICKLY MOVE OVER 6 LANES WITH NO HIGH GEAR. NOW I HAVE A $4900 REPAIR BILL. I WAS IN THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP JUST 1 WEEK PRIOR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED AT NISSAN SINCE IT WAS NEW. I WAS NEVER TOLD OF THE RECALL OR THAT I SHOULD BYPASS THE RADIATOR OR BEWARE OF THE PROBLEM.

RADIATOR LEAKING FLUID INTO TRANSMISSION . NOTICES SLIGHT SHUTTER AT HIGH SPEED, APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, IN THE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY DEALER AT 89,000 MILES WITHOUT ANY ISSUE AT THAT TIME . DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE RADIATOR DUE TO NO PROBLEM AT THAT TIME. VEHICLE IS AT 112000 AND NOW RADIATOR FAILS. NISSAN WOULD NOT COVER DUE TO OUT OF EXTENDED WARRANTY. FAULTY DESIGNED SYSTEM AND POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IN MY OPINION. VEHICLE AT MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FLUSH OUT TO SEE IF IT WILL FIX PROBLEM. MAJOR EXPENSE FOR POOR DESIGN PASSED ONTO CUSTOMER. I WILL NOT SPEND ANY MORE MONEY WITH NISSAN.
RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I LOSE POWER ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. THE TRANSMISSION LOSES POWER WHEN TRYING TO UPSHIFT. INSPECTION COMPLETED VIA AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALERSHIP. EFFORTS TO RECTIFY WITH NISSAN HAVE FAILED. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND IS MARKED AS AN OPEN NHTSA INVESTIGATION.
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK MADE A QUICK JERK AND THEM COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO CAUSING A HIGHWAY PILE UP!! I HAD NO POWER, NO STEERING NO NOTHING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET ACROSS 3 LANES SAFELY. CARS WERE SLAMMING ON BRAKES AND LUCKILY I DIDNT KILL MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE. ONCE I GOT THE THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK GOING AND SAFELY GET TO AN EXIT. I CREEPED HOME ON A WING A PRAYER AND NOW THE TRUCK IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I DONT DARE TO USE IT AND I NEED IT. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT, ITHAS GIVEN ME ANXIETY, IT WAS HORRIFIC. MY TRUCK HAS 94220 MILES ON IT.
TIMING CHAIN ON 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE ENGINE MAKES A LOUD WHINING NOISE DUE TO THE CHAIN CONTACT. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOTION IT MAKE THE NOISE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IN MOTION IT CHANGES GEARS AT A HIGHER RPM. I HAVE SENSORS THAT WERE OPERABLE BECAUSE OF THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE.

TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE, BUT FORWARD WAS BACK TO NORMAL. TOOK TO AAMCO TRANSMISSION REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSANS IN THAT THE DESIGN FLAW ALLOWS ENGINE COOLANT TO MIX WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND DESTROYS THE TRANSMISSION. COST TO REPLACE IS ESTIMATED AT $4100, CAN NOT OBTAIN A USED TRANSMISSION BECAUSE ALL THE SAME TRANSMISSIONS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE. VEHICLE HAS 155K MILES, AND DID NOT HAVE ANY WARNING SIGNS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAW. THIS TRUCK WHICH WAS RUNNING FINE LAST WEEK, WILL NOW BE SOLD FOR SCRAP AT A JUNKYARD AS I CAN NOT AFFORD...
IN 2013 I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF CLASS ACTION ABOUT A NISSAN VEHICLES RELATED TO POSSIBLE RADIATOR FLUID LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION DUE A DEFECT THAT PERMITS CROSS-CONTAMINATION OF ENGINE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT DID NOT INCLUDE VEHICLES BEFORE IT HAPPENS. IN 2013, I WENT TO A AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER TO CHECK IF MY RADIATOR CAN BE AFFECTED BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT IN THAT MOMENT THE RADIATOR WAS WORKING WELL WITHOUT GIVEN ME THE OPTION OF REPLACING IT TO PREVENT DAMAGES. AT THE TIME I WAS UNDER THE WARRANTY LIMITS, LESS THAN 10 YEARS AND LESS THAN 100,000 MILES. NOW IN FEBRUARY 13, 2016 MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS TO MOVE , HAD A HARSH SHIFT , IT SLOWED DOWN AND DID NOT DRIVE AT TIMES. I CLEARLY SAW A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I CALLED UNITED NISSAN SERVICE FOR A DIAGNOSE . THEY CHECK MY VEHICLE AND TOLD...
MY TRUCK STARTED SHUDDERING EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. EVENTUALLY IT WAS PAUSE WHEN CHANGING GEARS (WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND WOULD LOSE SPEED), AND THEN IT BEGAN TO MAKE A CLANKING SOUND. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL THE COOLANT VIA A LEAK IN THE RADIATOR COMBINES WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. REPAIR ESTIMATE IS $3,800 PLUS TAX! VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.... GENERALLY AT A SPEED OF 40MPH OR HIGHER. THE ISSUES BEGAN ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THEN SLOWER PROGRESSED TO WORSE. WHEN IT STARTED IS A GUESSTIMATE.

VEHICLE HAS SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH POSITION SENSORS ON CAMSHAFT AND CRANKSHAFT. VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS SUDDENLY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION AS VEHICLE WILL LOOSE BRAKING AND STEERING CONTROL AT HIGH SPEEDS OR IN A INCLINE, HILL ON OR OFF ROAD. NISSAN HAS FAULTY WIRING ON THESE SENSORS THAT CONTROL THE ENGINE POWER, A KNOW PROBLEM THAT HAS NEVER BEEN RECALLED. OVER 100 PEOPLE HAVE SUFFERED INJURIES OR LOSS OF LIFE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. WITH NO WARNING THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START, AND JUST STOPPED WORKING. WE HOOKED IT UP TO THE CODE READER AND DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE. WHAT WE FOUND WAS REALLY TROUBLING. WE BIT THE BULLET AND PAID TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER LOOKED IT OVER AND SAID THAT THE RADIATOR CONTAMINATED THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING A FAILURE IN BOTH. THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, ALL THE SEALS AND HOSES, THE RADIATOR AND THE COMPUTER. THESE REPAIRS WERE QUOTED TO BE $8,000. WE JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK WHICH IS WORTH $11,000 AND NOW WE ARE HIT WITH AN $8,000 REPAIR BILL? THIS IS A MAJOR MANUFACTURER FAILURE AND WAS ALREADY PART OF A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT, BUT SINCE YOU HAD TO BE A PART OF THE CLASS ACTION SUIT BEFORE WE EVEN OWNED THE TRUCK WE ARE JUST OUT OF LUCK? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION, THE TORQUE CONVERTER, AND THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHANGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

I PURCHASED A USED 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER SE CREW CAB WITH 86,000 MILES FOR $13,300 NOVEMBER 29TH 2013. NO WARNING OR INDICATION THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OVER THE RADIATOR COOLED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS VEHICLE MAY EXHIBIT SYMPTOMS THAT SEEM UNRELATED. ON AUGUST 6TH 2014 AT 99,978 MILES I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO A ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC TO CHECK OUT THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE OF SHUDDERING WHILE SHIFTING. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC, CHECKED THE FLUIDS, AND SENSORS. AT THAT TIME THEY ASSESSED IT WAS A DIRTY SENSOR AND SENT ME ON MY WAY, AND FOLLOWED UP AFTER A FEW DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND I BROUGHT IT BACK IN. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE TRANSMISSION OIL THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF RADIATOR FLUID IN THERE AND THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS NOW...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING SERVICED, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE REPAIRS. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN MY TRUCK FELT LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL AND WOULDN'T GET INTO GEAR. ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY I HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A CRACKED RADIATOR HEAD WITH COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THIS FAILURE. A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR HAS CAUSED COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS HAS RESULTED IN CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION AND COMPLETE RADIATOR REPLACEMENT. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED A TOTAL COST OF CLOSE TO $5000. *TR
