WHEN I LIFT MY CAR (NISSAN ALTIMA 2006 ) AT THE MECHANIC TO DO REPAIR JOB , I DISCOVERED A HUGE RUST HOLE AT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SITE AT THE FRONT OF THE CAR , I SHOCKED , IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN , FOR ME AND FOR MY FAMILY . THE RUST IS DEEP , WIDE AND PENETRATING , MY MECHANIC ADVICE ME TO SELL IT OF ANY PRICE BUT I DONT WANT TO SELL IT FOR ANY ONE , BECAUSE I HAVE A FAITHFUL CONSCIOUS , AND MORALS , I BEILEVE IN KARMA , I WOULD NOT DO IT FOR ANY BODY , EVEN THE CAR HAS ONLY 71,600 MILES , I DONT DRIVE IT ALOT , BUT FROM NOW ON , I AM NOT WILLING TO DRIVE IT AT ALL , OR LET MT DAUGHTERS GET IN THIS CAR FOR A VERY SERIOUS SAFTY CONCERNS ,...
BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON 9/19/2018. PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE SERVICE THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS RUSTING UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SIDE. I COULDN'T PICTURE WHAT THEY WERE DESCRIBING SO I ASKED TO SEE AND I TOOK A PICTURE. SUBSEQUENTLY, I WAS INFORMED BY SOMEONE ELSE (NOT NISSAN) THAT THIS HAS BEEN A LONG STANDING ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL & YEAR (2006). IT POTENTIALLY COULD AFFECT MY SUSPENSION/STEERING AND ALSO CAUSE A PASSENGER TO FALL THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. I FOUND OUT THAT THEY EVEN SENT OUT A 13 PAGE ILLUSTRATED BULLETIN TITLED "FLOOR PANEL REPAIR" ON 7/6/2015 TO THE DEALERS ABOUT A KIT THEY DEVELOPED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM; YET, THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL. JUST TODAY, 12/11/19, I INCIDENTALLY FOUND OUT MY PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP HAS HAD NUMEROUS CASES FOR THE NISSAN PATHFINDER. UNSURE OF WHAT YEAR(S) BUT IT WAS...
I TOOK MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA TO THE SHOP TO PURCHASE TIRES AND UPON PUTTING THE VEHICLE ON A LIFT, THE MECHANIC CALLED ME BACK TO SHOW ME A GAPING HOLE ON BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IF THE CARPET WERE LIFTED, YOU COULD SEE THROUGH TO THE ROAD ON BOTH SIDES. BOTH FLOORBOARD PANELS WERE RUSTED INCREDIBLY BADLY. AT ANY TIME MY DOG OR GRANDCHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. I AM UNAWARE OF HOW LONG THE HOLES HAVE BEEN THERE BUT JUDGING FROM THE SEVERITY OF THE RUST, I WOULD SAY IT HAS BEEN 5+ YEARS SINCE THEY STARTED RUSTING. IT WAS HUGE GAPING HOLES, SO MUCH SO THAT I BOUGHT A NEW CAR.
PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD RUSTED THROUGH. DRIVER SIDE SEEMS OK (FOR NOW) MAYBE BECAUSE I ALWAYS DO UNDER-WASH EVERY TIME WASHING THE CAR. FIRST NOTICED THE RUSTING AFTER AROUND 4 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP WHEN DID A DIY OIL CHANGE BUT I JUST IGNORED IT BECAUSE I JUST THOUGHT I'M JUST ONE OF THE UNLUCKY OWNER UNTIL DID A DIY OIL CHANGE LAST MONTH AND MY SURPRISED THE RUST GOTTEN WORST AND WIDENED. BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN JUNE, 2006 AND WAS GARAGE KEPT SINCE DAY ONE. IT ALSO GET WASHED REGULARLY BY ME AND AUTO CARWASH IN THE WINTER OF COURSE WITH UNDER CARRIAGE WASH. THE CAR HAS NOW 110K MILES.
I WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED TO FIND HOLES RUSTED THROUGH THE FLOORS OF OUR CAR. AS I RESEARCHED I HAVE FOUND THIS A HUGE PROBLEM, EVEN COVERED BY MAJOR TV NETWORKS. ...I REACHED OUT TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING.
THE FLOOR PANELS HAVE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL OF ALTIMAS
THE FLOOR PANS OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONTS HAVE BEEN RUSTING ON MY NISSAN ALTIMA FOR YEARS. I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST NOTICED IT BUT IT WOULD BE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO EASILY. ALSO THE EXTERIOR PAINT ON MY CAR HAS PREMATURELY DEGRADED TO THE POINT WHERE I ALMOST HAVE NO CLEAR COAT LEFT ON MY CAR. THE MAIN ISSUE IS THE RUST. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR RUST IN A FLAT PART UNDER NEATH A CAR WHERE WATER SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SIT. I WILL BE ATTACHING PICTURES THAT SHOW THE EXTENT OF THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO COME ACROSS NUMEROUS CHAT PAGES THAT HAVE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEIR CARS AS WELL. I TOUCHED IT AND IT FELL OFF, ABOUT A FOOT LONG AND JUST AS WIDE.LAID ON GROUND TO SEE UNDER CAR AND THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD IS RUSTED OUT.HAS BEEN FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND THE MECHANIC HAS NOT MENTIONED THIS.I DISCUSSED WITH MECHANIC AND HE NOTIFIED ME THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS BEFORE AND I SHOULDN'T ALLOW MY TEEN DAUGHTER TO DRIVE HER CAR BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE.I THEN CHECKED ON THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING ALL NISSAN ALTIMA'S FROM 2002-2006. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED, THE MECHANIC NOTICED A PIECE OF METAL HANGING UNDERNEATH THE FLOORBOARD. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, A HOLE WAS LOCATED ON THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARDS. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
I HAPPENED TO LOOK UNDER VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT MY DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND I HAVE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THIS. A WHOLE NEW FLOOR PAN WILL BE NEEDED TO HOPEFULLY FIX THIS. HAD I NOT SEEN THIS, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. AFTER A ROUTINE SERVICE CALL FOR OIL CHANGE, ROTATE AND CHECK TIRES, ETC., I WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC BOTH FLOOR BOARDS WERE IN NEED OF REPAIR. HIS ADVISE WAS TO DRIVE CAREFULLY AND NOT GO OVER BIG BUMPS. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND IMMEDIATELY THE OWNER KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HE THE OWNER HAD ALREADY FIXED AT LEAST 4 ALTIMAS SAME YEAR. HE SAID THE STEEL WAS THIN AND RUSTED QUICK. MY CAR WAS ALMOST ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE FLOORS. STEEL IS, IN FACT MADE MUCH BETTER AND VERY LITTLE RUST SHOWS ON CARS. MINE CAR HAS NO RUST (EXCEPT FLOOR BOARDS IN FRONT) IT HAS BEEN FIXED $500.

NISSAN ALTIMA 2006 VERY BAD RUST UNDERNEATH THE CAR ON THE DRIVER POSITION. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I FOUND OUT THIS PROBLEM WHEN TAKING THIS CAR TO REGULAR OIL CHANGE.
ROTTED FLOOR BOARDS UNDER DRIVERS SEAT AND PASSENGER SEAT. VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION ON APRIL 18, 2017. VEHICLE HAD JUST 101K MILES.
THE FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTING OUT FROM THE INSIDE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR.
TAKADA RECALL YES I GOT LOOKING UNDER MY CAR AN NOTICE THAT THE FLOOR BOARD IS RUSTING REAL BAD AN WILL HAVE A BIG WHOLE THREW IT REAL SOON AT WHICH IS NOT SAFE.
ON MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA, THERE HAS BEEN HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE RUST PROBLEM ON THE FRONT FLOORBOARDS. I HAVE A 16" BY 8" HOLE ON MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD THAT I PUT MY FOOT INSIDE WHEN I WAS GETTING INSIDE MY CAR AND SLIGHTLY INJURED MY FOOT. THE ONLY THING HOLDING THIS HOLE IS THE CARPET THAT IS COVERING THE RUSTED OUT FLOOR PANEL. THIS IS A SUPER BIG SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ON ALL NISSAN VEHICLES BEFORE ANY OTHER INJURIES OR COMPLAINTS TAKE PLACE. NISSAN WANTED TO CHARGE ME A $125 DIAGNOSIS FEE FOR SOMETHING YOU CAN PHYSICALLY SEE WITH YOUR OWN EYES.
MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS EXCESSIVE AND PREMATURE RUST ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR PAN. THERE ARE NO OTHER INDICATIONS OF RUST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, OR ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE UNDER-BODY OF THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE FIRST STARTED SHOWING SYMPTOMS IN ~2011 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS CONTINUED TO WORSEN TO THE POINT WHERE IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
THE FLOOR PANEL UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS RUSTED OUT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED.
EXTREME RUST OF FLOORBOARDS. ON BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE, A 12"X24" AREA OF THE FLOORS ARE COMPLETELY GONE, WITH ONLY THE VEHICLE CARPET REMAINING. THIS IS MAJOR, WIDESPREAD SAFETY HAZARD ACROSS THE NISSAN PRODUCT LINE IN EARLY 2000S MODEL YEAR VEHICLES AND HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED ONLINE, IN PRINT, AND ON TV. IT'S A TRAVESTY THAT NHTSA HAS FAILED TO GIVE THIS ISSUE THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES AND FORCE NISSAN TO DO THE RIGHT THING IN ISSUING A RECALL. SO MANY OF THESE VEHICLES ARE STILL ON THE ROAD! THERE IS NO RUST ANYWHERE ELSE ON OUR VEHICLE; CLEARLY THIS IS A MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN FLAW. WE NOTICED THE RUST FOR THE FIRST TIME SEVERAL MONTHS AGO WHEN WE WERE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE.

EXTREME RUST AND CORROSION OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR PANEL AND FRAME. RUSTED AREA IS ABOUT 3' X 1'. RUST HAS EXPOSED THE INSULATION UNDER THE CARPET; THERE IS NO METAL REMAINING IN A 4" X 6" AREA. METAL AROUND THIS IS VERY THIN. I AM CONCERNED THAT TOO MUCH PRESSURE FROM MY FOOT WILL CAUSE LARGER AREA TO COLLAPSE. ESTIMATE TO REPAIR AT A BODY SHOP IS ABOUT $1,400. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY CARS LONGER THAN THIS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A FRAME OR UNDERSIDE RUST LIKE THIS. IT IS SURELY A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING AND A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE IF MY FEET GO THROUGH THE HOLE OR A PIECE OF ROAD DEBRIS PENETRATES THE CARPET.
IT HAS RECENTLY COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE FLOOR PANS OF MY CAR HAVE RUSTED THROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE MY FOOT COULD GO THROUGH THE FLOOR PAN. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO GET A SAFETY INSPECTION IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, MY CAR HAS FAILED INSPECTION AND CANNOT PASS UNTIL THESE HAZARDOUS HOLES ARE FIXED ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE DUE TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN FILED IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER. OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE OF THIS ISSUE. AGAIN, THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE AMONG NISSAN ALTIMAS, SPECIFICALLY THE YEARS 2002-2006. I AM NOW REQUIRED TO PAY AT LEAST $500 TO REPAIR AN ISSUE THAT IS OUT OF MY CONTROL. THERE IS NO WAY THAT I CAN STOP RUST FROM OCCURRING. THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE DRIVEN BECAUSE EXHAUST FUMES...
THE FLOORBOARDS ARE RUSTED OUT BELOW THE FRONT DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER FEET. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WON'T BE LONG BEFORE I'LL HAVE TWO LARGE HOLES. SURFACE RUST OR WHEEL ARCH RUST IS ONE THING, BUT STRUCTURAL ROTTING FOR A CAR THAT'S 10 YEARS OLD IS EXCESSIVE.

THIS PARTICULAR COMPLAINT HAS BEEN MADE BY HUNDREDS OF TIMES BY OTHERS. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NISSAN SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO REPAIR THE VEHICLES! DATE LISTED BELOW IS WHEN I FIRST DISCOVERED IT AFTER A MECHANIC BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION WHILE THE CAR WAS UP ON A LIFT.
DURING A RECENT OIL CHANGE, MY MECHANIC BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE FRONT SEAT FLOOR BOARDS WERE RUSTING ON BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDES. THE RUSTING AREAS LOOK ALMOST IDENTICAL. I RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET TO FIND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2002-2006 NISSAN ALTIMAS. THERE APPARENTLY HAVE BEEN A FEW CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS FILED AND SEVERAL TELEVISION REPORTS ON THE MATTER. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN; HOWEVER, THEY CLAIM IT IS NOT A DEFECT. I DISCUSSED WITH A NEIGHBOR RECENTLY WHO ALSO OWNS A NISSAN ALTIMA BUILT IN THAT TIMEFRAME AND FOUND OUT THAT HE TOO RECENTLY DISCOVERED THE RUSTING FLOOR BOARD ISSUE. NISSAN TOLD ME THAT I LIVED IN A SALT STATE AND DID NOT KNOW HOW I MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE; HOWEVER, GIVEN THE HUNDREDS AND PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FILED, IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE TO BE DUE TO OWNER NEGLIGENCE....

FRONT DRIVER SIDE FLOOR RUSTED THROUGH, MAKING A BIG HOLE APPROXIMATELY 9IN WIDE BY 22IN LONG. ALSO ENGINE SHAKES WHILE STARTING VEHICLE AND SITTING IN IDLE IN BOTH GEAR AND NEUTRAL.

I HAVE OWNED A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS THAT HAS 126,000 MILES ON IT. DURING A RECENT INSPECTION THE MECHANIC FOUND SEVERE RUSTING AND A SIGNIFICANT HOLE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR PAN; YOU COULD SEE THE INTERIOR CARPET FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. IT LOOKS LIKE THE FLOOR HAS BEEN ERODING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. AFTER SEARCHING FOR THIS ISSUE ONLINE, I LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN ALTIMAS FROM 2002 TO 2006 RELATING TO A FAULTY DESIGN IN A DRAIN (THOSE WERE A NISSAN REPS OWN WORDS). I'M FRUSTRATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR COMMUNICATIONS REGARDING THIS KNOWN ISSUE. I'D HOPE THAT NISSAN CAN BE COMPELLED TO BE TRANSPARENT AND FORTHCOMING WITH KNOWN ISSUES WHICH MAY BE A RISK TO CUSTOMERS' SAFETY.
THE FLOORBOARDS HAVE RUSTED RIGHT THROUGH TO THE OUTSIDE. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH NORMAL WEAR. WE HAVE JUST BEEN ALERTED TO THIS BY THE MECHANIC AND IT IS SO ADVANCED HE ADVISES WE DON'T USE THE CAR! REPAIRING IT IS PROBABLY MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH!
EXCESSIVE RUSTING OF THE FLOORBOARDS. A GAPING HOLE IS IN THE FLOOR GOING THROUGH TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. THIS IS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE THIS CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AT HOME AND AT WORK.
IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH OLDER ALTIMAS. APPARENTLY THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FORMS A RUST PROBLEM WHICH CAN CAUSE ONE TO FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR. THE IMAGE I ATTACHED SHOWS THE FLOORBOARD NOT ONLY RUSTING BUT COMING OFF, AND I CAN PUSH ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CARPET FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR. NISSAN KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2008 AND HAS NOT OFFERED ANY OBVIOUS STATEMENTS NOR RECALLS. THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR (FOR BOTH SIDE FLOORBOARD REPLACEMENT, IT CAN COST 3000)

I LOOKED UNDER MY CAR THIS EVENING AND FOUND A LARGE RUSTED OUT HOLE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORBOARD. THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD ALSO SEEMS TO BE RUSTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS PREMATURE CORROSION ON THE FLOORBOARDS ACROSS THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE CORROSION, HOLES COULD BE SEEN THROUGH THE FLOORBOARDS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED USING A PATCH KIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. UPDATED 10/07/16*LJ *TR
FLOOR PANS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. I CAN PUSH MY HAND TROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR AND MOVE THE CARPET INSIDE. I KNOW THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. JUST ADDING MY CAR TO THE LIST.
MY FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTING OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE CHANGING THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS WERE SEVERELY CORRODED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CORROSION WAS ALSO APPARENT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
FLOORBOARD IS RUSTED THROUGH. NOTICED SOFT SPOT IN FLOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE OF VEHICLE. LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND SAW A RUSTED HOLE APPROXIMATELY 8" X 16" IN SIZE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOORBOARD, AND SIGNS OF RUST STARTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD TOO. I DO NOT EXPECT THIS OF A NINE YEAR OLD VEHICLE, AND SUSPECT THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR A WHILE. I CONTACTED NISSAN SUPPORT, I WAS ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THE DEALER ESTIMATED THE COST OF REPAIR TO BE AROUND $2150. I RECEIVED A FOLLOW UP CALL FROM NISSAN AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIR.
PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR RUSTED AWAY - ABOUT 16" X 8" DAMAGED AREA. MUST HAVE STARTED LONG AGO, BUT I ONLY CAUGHT IT RECENTLY AND TODAY I BEGAN TO TRY TO REPAIR IT, BUT THE DAMAGE IS MUCH WORSE THAN WHAT I COULD INITIALLY SEE. THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW WITH ALTIMAS IN THIS AGE RANGE, BUT NISSAN IS IGNORING.
THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND THE CARPET IS THE ONLY THING SEPARATING THE PASSENGER'S FEET FROM THE GROUND. THE HOLE IS 16 INCHES IN LENGTH. I SAW SOME SORT OF PLASTIC HANGING FROM THE AREA AND WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR, THE FLOORBOARD IS COMPLETELY RUSTED. WHEN I EXAMINED THE AREA WITH MY HAND, I FELT THE CARPET AND AM ABLE TO PUSH IT UP INTO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND DEFECT IN THE CAR. THIS HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN RUSTING FOR SOME TIME NOW AND I DID NOT KNOW MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING OVER A GAPING WHOLE IN THE FLOOR AND IN DANGER FROM HER FEET FALLING THROUGH THE FLOOR OR SOMETHING POTENTIALLY PIERCING THROUGH AND INJURING HER.
WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE/TIRE ROTATION AND MECHANIC SAID THAT BOTH DRIVER AND PASENGER SIDE FLOORBOARDS WERE ALMOST RUSTED THROUGH. CONTACTED NISSAN DEALER I PURCHASED CAR FROM, THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL BUT THAT NISSAN HAS ISSUED A "SERVICE BULLETIN" ON HOW TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. COST OF REPLACEMENT PARTS AND LABOR WAS IN EXCESS OF $3,000. DO NOT FEEL THAT A TEN YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD BE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. CAR HAS 170K MILES BUT OTHERWISE IS IN FLAWLESS CONDITION.

THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS HAD HOLES AND EXPOSED AREAS DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR AN INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
A HOLE HAS RUSTED THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD. JUST NOTICED IT TODAY 4/18/16.
DISCOVERED ROTTED FLOOR BOARDS. NISSAN HAS RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE AND RESEARCHED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE.
