Defect: Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain model year 2016-2018 Bay Star, Bay Star Sport, Canyon Star, Dutch Star, Essex, King Aire, London Aire, Mountain Aire, New Aire, Ventana and Ventana LE motorhomes. These vehicles may have a loose power connection at the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), possibly resulting in a build up of heat.

Consequence: The build up of heat in the wiring from the loose power connection can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the electrical connection at the ATS, tightening it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2018. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.

Defect: Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2017 Bay Star, Bay Star Sport, and Canyon Star vehicles, built on Ford chassis and equipped with Antilock Brake Systems (ABS). The brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Units (HECU) on these vehicles may be missing valve block ball plugs, potentially causing a brake fluid leak or air ingestion during electronic brake distribution and/or ABS activation.

Consequence: A brake fluid leak or air ingestion can lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

ON MAY 3, 2021 WHILE DRIVING I-71 S IN OHIO DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM, I EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM. I WAS TRAVELLING APPROX. 55 MPH. EITHER THE WIPER ARM (WHERE IT'S ATTACHED TO THE MOTOR) FAILED AND CAUSED THE BRACKET HOLDING THE MOTOR TO FAIL, OR THE BRACKET FAILED AND CAUSED THE WIPER ARMS TO FAIL. BOTH WIPERS, DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE FELL DOWN AWAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY.
