My Mini Cooper has been showing repeated warnings stating “Start-off assistance inactive. Caution: vehicle may roll back!” for some time. This issue appears to relate to an existing recall involving potential electrical and starter/rollaway defects. The vehicle also has a persistent front parking light malfunction and intermittent electrical issues with the windows, which stop mid-way and roll back down automatically when the car shifts gears or moves slightly. In addition, the battery repeatedly dies, even though it was replaced with a brand-new one a few months ago. This suggests an underlying electrical drain or short, which could increase the risk of electrical fire or vehicle failure while driving. These malfunctions create significant safety concerns, as the vehicle may roll backward when stopped on an incline and could pose a fire risk due to the known recall. The car has not been safe to drive. The closest Mini dealership (Flow Mini...
I had several repairs recently that I found that were part of a recall after the fact. This includes the Electric Auxilillary Water Pump and Timing Chair replacement and repair of damaged parts. They refused to reimburse me for the water pump repair that should have been covered. Secondly, when the timing chain fails as it did in my case can cause $2000- $5000+ in damages. My shop is stating this would be a very expensive repair. There is information that the timing chain warranty was extended because of a class action lawsuit and is now covered up to 100,000 miles. I am well within that range. My goal is to get compensation for the recall work and coverage for the timing chain.
During driving failure of the shift cable linkage was disconnected When investigated, the joint between the cable and the transmission shifter was disconnected due to a failure of the bushing on the cable side This caused a situation where the car was stuck in a single gear and not possible to be shifted into neutral or another gear
I DO NOT OWN THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE, BUT I AM IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY. I HAVE ATTACHED 3 PHOTOGRAPHS OF A CLUTCH RELEASE FORK FOR THIS VEHICLE. NOTE THE RED ARROWS ON THE PHOTOS. PLEASE NOT THE PHOTO OF THE NEW CLUTCH RELEASE FORK AND THE STAMPING FLAW THE ARROWS ARE POINTING TO. NOW LOOK AT THE OTHER BROKEN CLUTCH FORKS AND WHERE THE BREAK OCCURRED. THE BREAK OCCURRED AT THE SAME POSITION ON THE FORK. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS A SAFETY CONCERN. IF THE FORK BREAKS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE DRIVER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE AND/OR THE CLUTCH WOULD STAY ENGAGED WHILE TRYING TO APPLY THE BRAKES INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH.
HALF ENGINE LIGHT COME ON DURING DRIVING WHILE CHANGE LANE ON THE FREEWAY, AND GOING UP HELL. NOT LOSING POWER TURBO WORKING FINE. DEALER REPLACE VACUUM PUMP BUT NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. HALF ENGINE LIGHT COME OFF WHEN YOU DRIVE FROM PARK WHILE PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL INCREASING RPM TO 15OO, ON THE FREEWAY OR UP ON THE HELL THE HALF LIGHT COME BACK ON. DEALER CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I FILED A COMPLAINT THE FIRST TIME IN 2012. HERE IS THE COMPLAINT THAN AND IT IS A REPEAT OF THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE CHECKED THE WEB AND OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME DESIGN PROBLEM I HAVE SPENT $1,100 ALREADY AND NOW AN REQUIRED TO PAY ANOTHER $1,400 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I WENT ON-LINE AND OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. I WROTE THE DEALER AND MINI-COOPER/BMW ABOUT THIS AND RECEIVED A RUDE DENIAL. HERE IS THE ISSUE (#2): "TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MINI COOPER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR LINK BECAME STUCK AS THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE FROM A DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT COFFEE HAD LEAKED INTO THE GEAR SHIFTER AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED ADVISED THAT BECAUSE THE CUP HOLDER WAS ABOVE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MINI COOPER. THE DEALER STATED ADVISED THAT BECAUSE THE CUP HOLDER WAS ABOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER, THE DESIGN WOULD ALLOW ANY SPILLED LIQUID TO EASILY ENTER THE SHIFTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,000. UPDATED 03/23/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE COFFEE HOLDER SITS RIGHT OVER THE AREA WHERE THE DEALER SATED COFFEE RUINED THE TRANSMISSION COMPONENT. IT IS NOT SEALED AND THE PLACEMENT OF A LIQUID HOLDER OVER A VULNERABLE EXPENSIVE PIECE OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT WITHOUT ADEQUATE PROTECTION IS A NEGLIGENT DESIGN. UPDATED EVOQ 04/18/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MINI COOPER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR SELECTOR INTO PARK HOWEVER, THE GEAR WOULD NOT REMAIN SECURE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIRS. IN ADDITION, THE OIL PUMP GASKET AND MAP THERMOSTAT WERE REPLACED PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,504. UPDATED 10/12/11*LJ UPDATED 3/30/12 *CN
THE NEW MINI COOPER THAT I LEASED STARTED TO HAVE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AROUND 6500 MILES. WHAT HAPPENS IS A HESITATION IN THE ACCELERATION OF THE MINI FROM A START OR AT LOW RPMS. FOR EXAMPLE WHEN YOU'RE AT A STOP AND YOU ARE TRYING TO CROSS TRAFFIC THE HESITATION OF THE ACCELERATION IS DANGEROUS IN TIMING THE VEHICLE TO CROSS TRAFFIC AND WHEN THE ACCELERATION CATCHES UP THE CAR JUMPS TO HIGH RPMS. THIS IS BEING REPORTED BECAUSE I TOOK THE COOPER INTO THE MINI OF ONTARIO SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG.
