2007 MERCURY MILAN — Problems, Recalls & Safety Data

The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that she became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the braking system was flushed with DOT 4 fluid, and a new brake fluid reservoir cap was installed; however, the contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but went down to the floorboard and failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she engaged the electronic parking brake, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving, and there was a stopping distance delay. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the brakes were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

The amount of complaints I’ve seen about the same exact issue happening to people in the same exact car is ridiculous to not be a recall. I am almost certain it’s a throttle bottle issue. This needs to be looked into and investigated before ford comes across a lawsuit.

The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated the brakes had failed to function as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
