The contact stated that after a visual inspection, the contact observed that the passenger’s side rear leaf spring shackle had detached from the frame at the spot weld. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the spot welds. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 5,000.
