MY JEEP HAS BEEN TO FOUR DIFFERENT DEALERS AND I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH IT AS I DID WHEN I BOUGHT IT ONE YEAR AGO. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND POWER IS LOST WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE VEHICLE IS USUALLY IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID IT SEEMED TO JUST BE A SENSOR. THEN I WENT TO START IT ONE NIGHT AFTER WORK AND IT WOULDN'T START. SO I HAD TO CALL AAA AND THEY SAID MAYBE BATTERY. SO REPLACE BATTERY AND NOW AGAIN, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IT STRUGGLES TO START AND JERKS WHILE DRIVING. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HENDRICK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DULUTH (2473 PLEASANT HILL RD, DULUTH, GA 30096, (678) 369-6704) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROCKERS AND BEARINGS WERE FAULTY. THE DEALER ASSUMED THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE CAM SHAFT AND WOULD NEED TO TAKE APART THE ENGINE TO CONFIRM. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

ENGINE BEGAN MAKING TICKING NOISE FROM ENGINE BAY AT ABOUT 77,000 MILES. JEEP HAS BEEN SERVICED AS REQUIRED WITH QUALITY SYNTHETIC OIL AND FILTERS SINCE NEW. DONE MORE OFTEN THAN JEEP REQUIRES. TOOK TO DEALER WHO AGREED IT WAS MAKING NOISE AND NEEDED FIXED. WHEN VALVE COVERS WERE REMOVED THEY FOUND ROCKER ARMS BAD ON 2 CYLINDERS AND TAPPETS COLLAPSED ON 3 CYLINDERS. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT. THEY HAVE A STAR CASE BULLETIN, # S1309000016 PUBLISHED ABOUT THIS. SAID THEY ARE DOING SEVERAL OF THE PENTASTAR V6 ENGINES A MONTH. THIS IS A ENGINE THAT IS USED IN MINI VANS, CHARGERS, CHALLENGERS, 200'S AND 300'S, MAYBE OTHERS. HAPPENING IN ALL OF THESE VEHICLES. MY WIFE'S JEEP HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE HEATER FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS. THE DRIVER SIDE VENTS ARE BLOWING COLD AIR AND THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS ARE BLOWING WARM AIR ONLY. THIS IS A NEW ISSUE SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE STARTING IN JUNE 2016.
WITH NO LEAKS AND LESS THAN 65,000 MILES, THE AMOUNT OF HEAT PRODUCED THROUGH THE VEHICLES HEATING SYSTEM HAS BEEN STEADILY DIMINISHING TO THE POINT THAT IT NOW ONLY BLOWS COOL AIR. THIS CONDITION IS PRESENT EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND HAS BEEN IN CONTINUOUS OPERATION. RESEARCH HAS INDICATED THAT A ENGINE COMPONENT MANUFACTURING DEFECT (CASTING SAND RESIDUE) HAS DIRECTLY CAUSED THIS CONDITION WITH THE SAND RESIDUE ACCUMULATING IN THE HEATER CORE AND RESTRICTING/BLOCKING THE FLOW OF COOLANT THROUGH THE HEATER CORE.
CONSTANT TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. THIS TICKING NOISE IS MADE FROM WORN OUT ROCKER ARMS/ CAM LIFTERS AS THE CAMSHAFT ROTATES. THE BEARING MATERIAL IN THE LIFTERS IS NOT HARDENED STEEL AND CAN DEGRADE. ALL 3.6L PENTASTAR ENGINES ARE AFFECTED BY THESE DEFECTIVE ROCKER ARMS. IF THE ROCKER ARMS ARE DAMAGED NO CODE WILL SHOW. THE FIRST SINES WILL BE A LOSS IN FUEL EFFICACY. AS THE CAMSHAFT WEARS DOWN CHANGING THE DISPLACEMENT OF THE CYLINDERS THIS WILL START CAUSING MISFIRE AND STALLING DURING NORMAL DRIVING/ ACCELERATION. EVENTUALLY, WARE DEBRIS CAN FALL INTO THE CYLINDER AND DAMAGE THE HEAD. I FIRST TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 60K MILES TO DIAGNOSE. WITH NO CODES SHOWING I WAS TOLD EVERYTHING IN THE ENGINE CHECKED OUT AND THE TICKING NOISE WAS FROM THE VALVES. NOW AT 84K MILES ONE OF THE ROCKER ARMS IS DEFINITELY FAILING...
OIL COOLER FILTER HOUSING LEAKS OIL SPILLING IT DOWN THE BACKSIDE ONTOP OF THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING AND DIRECTLY DRIPPING ONTOP OF HOT EXHAUST PIPES RESULTING IN A FIRE HAZARD.
09-18-2018 WENT TO GET OIL CHANGE AND AFTER THE OIL CHANGE BEGIN TO HAVE A OIL LEAK, RESEARCHED AND IT SEEMED A LOT OF JEEP OWNERS HAD SAME ISSUE WITH OIL COOLER GOING BAD AFTER OIL CHANGE. AT APPROXIMATELY 60K MILES MY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT UNLIMITED STARTED "STALLING" INEXPLICABLY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU LOSE ALL THROTTLE CONTROL, AND YOUR POWER STEERING. WHICH CAN BE CHALLENGING WHEN YOUR IN THE LEFT HAND LANE OF A FOUR LANE INTERSTATE GOING 65MPH. THIS CAUSED A TRACTOR TRAILOR TO JACK KNIFE AND SLIDE DOWN THE INTERSTATE... THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE ODOR WOULD BLOW OUT FROM THE VENTS AND WAS PRESENT EACH TIME THE DEFROSTER WAS USED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
P0302 MISFIRE CYLINDER 2. P0300, P0304 & P0306 JEEP/DODGE IS VERY AWARE OF THIS CYLINDER ISSUE AND HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR SEVERAL MODELS. (JOURNEY, WRANGLER, 200/AVENGER, CHALLENGER, CHARGER, GRAND CARAVAN, DURANGO AND GRAND CHEROKEE). AND THEY WILL NOT RECALL THIS PART. THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE THE PROBLEM IS THE SERVICE LIGHT INDICATOR. SO YOU CAR WILL NOT START IF IT MALFUNCTIONS. OF COURSE THEY WANT YOU TO ONLY HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO POSSIBLE HELP. AS OF RIGHT NOW THEY WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING ON AN EXPRESSWAY KEEPING UP WITH TRAFFIC WHEN MY ENGINE JUST STALLED. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE OUTSIDE LANE AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. THE FIRST TIME, THE DEALER UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. THE SECOND TIME, THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER TRAIN MODULE. IN FACT, THE DAY I GOT IT BACK FROM THE DEALER, IT STALLED AGAIN GOING ABOUT 25 MPH. THEN, THE DEALER CALIBRATED THE THROTTLE. I WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, CALL THEM AND THEY WILL HAVE IT TOWED. THIS IS WHAT I DID. IT WAS AT THE SHOP THE NEXT DAY AND THEY STATED IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THEY ARE KEEPING IT THERE AND WILL BE DRIVING IT WITH HOPES OF DUPLICATING THE PROBLEM. I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE THE SHOULDER AND NOT GET REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE.
MY 2013 WRANGLER UNLIMITED HAS RECENTLY STARTED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY, 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 3.5 MONTHS - THE LATEST WAS TODAY AND YESTERDAY. IT STARTS AGAIN AFTER SITTING ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OR DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND SEEMS TO DRIVE FINE OTHERWISE. NO LIGHTS GO OFF, IT JUST DIES AND I LOOSE POWER STEERING. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN LOWER GEARS AS WELL AS HIGHER. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND ADVISED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO MUCH SINCE NO DASH LIGHTS GO OFF. I HAVE BOUGHT A CODE READER AND NO CODES ARE THROWN. IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY DOING 65-70 MPH WHILE IN THE MIDDLE LANE. THE CAR LITERALLY JUST SHUTS OFF WITH NO NOTICE. MY FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! IN SHORT...CAR WAS MOVING THEN SHUT DOWN FOR NO REASON.
MY JEEP WRANGLER IS STALLING AND ONCE I GET IT RESTARTED THE TRANSMISSION WILL JERK WHEN SHIFTING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT COMING ON SO THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE IT. THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN IN REVERSE OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN TRAFFIC. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO POWER DERATE MODE AND YOU COULDN'T ACCELERATE. HOOKED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER TO THE VEHICLE AND FOUND CHRYSLER TROUBLE CODES P0369, P2638, AND C121C. HAD TO DO WITH CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AND TRANSMISSION TORQUE REQUEST BEING DENIED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE ON ONLINE JEEP FORUMS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE OCCUR. THE DEALERSHIP JUST HAD ME GO AND PICK UP MY VEHICLE EXACTLY AS IT WAS WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. A TICKING NOISE. VALVES TICKING. I WAS TOLD.THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS WITH JEEP.WRANGLERS.
TWICE MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS SIMPLY TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. BOTH TIMES WERE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE FIRST TIME I WAS IN REVERSE IN A PARKING GARAGE. THE ENGINE SIMPLY STOPPED. ALL THE LIGHTS STILL REMAINED ON. I THOUGHT I MUST HAVE PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BY MISTAKE, BUT HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 3 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER DONEE THAT BEFORE.. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND WENT ON MY WAY. THERE WERE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON BEFORE OR AFTER THIS INCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY I WAS TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR ENGINE AGAIN COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS AT ALL TO SHOW THE VEHICLE HAD AN ISSUE. AND THERE WAS NO WAY THIS WAS A MISTAKE ON MY END. THEN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I WAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRAFFIC INTERSECTION. IT WAS NOT ON...
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE, CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COME ON, VEHICLE LOSES POWER, DECELERATES ON ITS OWN. CRUISE CONTROL STOPS WORKING. HAVE TO ALMOST FLOOR GAS PEDAL TO KEEP POWER GOING TO VEHICLE. VEHICLE THEN RANDOMLY HAS SMALL BURST OF ACCELERATION ON ITS OWN. OCCURED WHILE DRIVING DOWN I-10. OCCURS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT WARNING. ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT BETWEEN MYSELF AND A SEMI, WHILE MY KIDS WERE IN THE VEHICLE.
I BOUGHT THIS 2013 JEEP NOT EVEN TWO YEARS AGO AND I'VE SANK OVER 8,000 DOLLARS IN REPAIR INTO IT. THEIR SHOULD BE A TON OF RECALLS ON THESE JEEPS AROUND THE SAME YEAR. I'M A MAIL CARRIER AND MY FIRST ROUTE WAS ALL PAVED ROADS. THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH DELIVERING THE MAIL. THESE JEEPS ARE JUNK AND JEEP WON'T TAKE INITIATIVE FOR IT. THE TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAY ON. EVERY TIME IT'S BEEN FIXED IT'S BEEN CAM SHAFTS, ROCKER ARMS, CAM SHAFT SENSORS, STEERING SENSOR, CLOCK SPRING, AND WIRING HARNESS. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE FIXED THAT MANY FINES AND CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. THESE JEEPS SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND MORE BEING MADE FOR POSTAL VEHICLES. OIL ADAPTER HOUSING IS LEAKING OIL. NOTICED WHEN I WAS GETTING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE.
HEATER CORE CLOGGED.RADIATOR SLUDGE LEFTOVER FROM CASTING SAND IN CYLINDER HEADS CIRCULATED THRU HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS CAUSE SAND TO SETTLE IN RADIATOR AND CLOG HEATER CORE
OIL FILTER HOUSING, CRACKED RESULTING IN LOSS OF LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL, ENGINE HAS 82,000 MILES AND OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED EVERY 3000-3500, USING MANF RECOMMENDED OIL AND FILTER. STARTED LEAKING LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL AND BURNING SMELL, DEALER STATED THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS CRACKED DUE TO OVER TIGHTENING OF OIL FILTER CAP. THIS IS NOT TRUE, HAVE FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS USED A TORQUE WRENCH TO THE MANF SPECIFICATIONS PRINTED ON THE OIL FILTER CAP. REVIEWING THIS ON THE INTERNET AND SEES TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE PENSTAR ENGINE WHICH CHANGED FROM BOTTOM MOUNT TO TOP MOUNT OIL FILTER. MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE REPLACEMENT COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT THIS LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATES IT WAS USER ERROR AND REFUSES TO COVER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE ON THE NUMBER TWO CYLINDER, AND THE COIL AND SPORT PLUG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A SERVICE CENTER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER. THE DEALER INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. PERFORMANCE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM CENTERVILLE IN CENTERVILLE, OHIO WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE POWER CONTROL MODULE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
OUT OF THE BLUE THE JEEP WOULD NOT START ONE MORNING. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. TURNS OUT THE WCM (WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE) FAILED IN THE IGNITION SO THE KEYS WERE NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE MODULE. THEY REPLACED THE PART (WOULD NOT COVER UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY WE PURCHASED!!!!) AND REPROGRAMMED BOTH OUR KEYS. $385.00 LATER IT NOW STARTS.

JUST PURCHASED, HEAT NOT WORKING. HAD HEATER CORE FLUSHED, HEAT WORKED FOR ONE WEEK AND NOW BLOWS VERY HOT ON RIGHT SIDE AND LUKE WARM ON LEFT SIDE. THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE CASTING SAND PLUGGING THE HEATER CORE. I NOW HAVE TO TAKE BACK TO SHOP TO FLUSH HEATER CORE AGAIN. NOT GOOD.
VEHICLE EXHIBITS STALLING AND ENGINE SHUT OFF AT IDLE OR LOW SPEEDS BELOW 60 MPH. VEHICLE BUCKS/SLIPS/JERKS AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH+ AS WITNESSED BY DEALER SERVICE MECHANIC. VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR OR WILL REVERSE WHILE IN DRIVE AND MUST BE TURNED OFF AND RETURNED TO PARK, BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. NO DEALER CODES FOUND THEREFORE, UNABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE AND UNSTABLE.
THE VEHICLE IS CONSUMING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL (MORE THAN A QUART PER 250 MILES) AND IS OVERHEATING WHEN UNDER LOAD ON LONG CLIMBS. OVERHEATING AND/OR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO "LIMP" MODE WHICH IS A SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHERE THE ENGINE WILL NOT GO OVER 3000 RPM. WHEN OIL LEVEL DROPS TO ABOUT 3 QUARTS LOW, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE JEEP GOES INTO LIMP MODE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED VALVE TAPPETS, THE LEFT CAMSHAFT AND THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD UNDER MY CHRYSLER "MAXCARE" LIFETIME WARRANTY, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. JEEP CUSTOMER CARE IS NOW TELLING ME THE REPAIR MAY NO LONGER BE COVERED BY MY LIFETIME SERVICE CONTRACT (REFERENCE JEEP CUSTOMER CARE CASE NUMBER 32175924). THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FROM OVERHEATING AND/OR OIL LOSS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
