Vehicle’s inlet check valve for gas tank does not work properly when tank is filled at fueling stations. Does not trigger gas pumps to stop causing overflow and spilling on person / clothing / vehicle and gas station property. This is a known issue for 2005-2006 Jeep Wranglers. The issue was repaired by manufacturer for newer Jeep Wranglers. Currently no manufacturer ownership on remediation issue and/or recall for 2005-2006 model year Jeep Wranglers.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK WITH FUEL, THE FUEL SPLASHES OUT GOING OVER ME, MY FENDERS, SIDE OF JEEP AND THE GROUND. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.AND JEEP SHOULD BE LIABLE. GOD FORBID IF THIS CAUSED A FATALITY.
FUEL OVERFLOWS WHEN THE TANK IS FILLED. THE AUTO-SHUTOFF DOESN'T WORK. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK, NO MATTER WHAT GAS STATION. THIS IS A SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD.
EVERY TIME I FILL THE JEEP UP WITH GAS, LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPILLS OUT BEFORE THE FILL GUN CAN STOP IT. I HAVE BEEN TO MANY DIFFERENT GAS STATION AND IT HAPPENS AT ALL OF THEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS, MANY OTHERS WITH MY YEAR JEEP HAVE FILLED COMPLAINTS AND GOT THE ISSUE FIX.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY FUEL TANK, 1/2 A SECOND AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF, A SIGNIFICANT OF FUEL COMES RUSHING OUT ON TO THE GROUND.
WHEN FILLING THE WRANGLER WITH FUEL, THE TANK CONSISTENTLY AND REGULARLY OVERFILLS AND SPITS FUEL OUT OF THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK TOWARDS THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE, THE PERSON FILLING THE WRANGLER, THE EXTERIOR OF THE WRANGLER, AND ONTO THE FLOOR NEXT TO THE WRANGLER. THERE IS A TSB FOR REPAIR OF THIS ISSUE, BUT MY YEAR IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY COVERED BY THAT TSB. PLEASE HELP.
WHEN FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK, IT WILL EITHER CLICK-OFF EVERY 2 TENTHS OF A GALLON OR SPILL FUEL OUT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FILL AT THE SLOWEST RATE. THERE ARE NO KINKS OR ETC IN THE FILLER PIPE OR VENT PIPE.
DURING PUMPING OF GASOLINE INTO THE TANK WHEN THE TANKS FILLS, GAS SPEWS FROM THE TANK EVERYTIME. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH EITHER OF THE OTHER 3 JEEPS THAT I OWN. THIS CAUSES A POTENTIAL FOR FIRE AND/OR INJURY DUE TO GASOLINE SPLASHING ON HANDS, ARMS AND CLOTHES.
WHEN I FILL UP WITH GAS AT A STATION, AFTER THE PUMP CLICKS, ABOUT A PINT OF GAS SPLASHES OUT OF THE FILLER AND DOWN THE BODY ONTO THE GROUND.
JEEP WRANGLER 2005 AND 2006. WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK AT THE GAS STATION, GASOLINE WILL OVERFLOW MOMENTARILY, SPILLING GASOLINE ON THE GROUND FROM THE GAS TANK FILLER TUBE WHEN THE GAS PUMP FUEL NOZZLE SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE 2005 AND 2006 MODEL YEAR WRANGLERS I HAVE OWN(ED). REVIEWING COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE MODEL YEARS. AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM IS THE INTERNAL STICKING (DUE TO INTERNAL VALVE PLUG EXPANSION) CHECK VALVE THAT CAUSES SPILLAGE ALSO MAY NOT PERMIT PROPER FUEL FILLING.
GAS TANK BLOWS OUT A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS AFTER FILLING UP.
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK TO FULL GASOLINE WILL SHOOT OUT OF THE FILLER HOLE AND OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT (I CAN ONLY RECALL 4 TIMES WHEN IT DID NOT OCCUR SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2015 WITH 82,000 MILES ON IT. IN ALL CASES THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, ENGINE WAS OFF, PARKED NEXT TO THE GASOLINE PUMP.

WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE WITH SHOOT OUT OF THE FUEL FILL WHEN THE TANK IS NEARLY FULL. FROM SPEAKING WITH OTHER JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED OWNERS (2005 & 2006 MODELS ONLY), THIS ISSUE IS COMMONPLACE AND UNADDRESSED BY JEEP. IT IS REPORTEDLY DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN THE OVERFLOW VALUE IN THE FILLER TUBE. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, APPROXIMATELY 1/4 OF GASOLINE WILL FLOW OUT OF THE TANK BEFORE THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF. THIS HAS EXPOSED ME TO GASOLINE ON MY SKIN, AS WELL AS SPILLED FUEL ON THE GROUND. THERE IS RISK DUE TO EXPOSURE TO ETHANOL AND OTHER CHEMICALS, ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE WITH GASOLINE ON THE GROUND, AND FIRE RISK.
EVERY TIME I FILL MY JEEP, IT OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS FUEL ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY JEEP AND THE GROUND BEFORE THE RULE PUMP SHUTS OFF. I HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH EVERY FILL UP AT ANY FUEL STATION I USE. IT WILL SOMETIMES OVERFILL AND SPILL ENOUGH OUT AS TO NECESSITATE THE USE OF A FUEL SPILL CLEANUP KIT AND I'VE HAD SEVERAL SHOES AND PANTS RUINED FROM SPOUTING FUEL. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL COMPLAIN OF THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS IS NOT ONLY AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM, BUT A FIRE SAFETY PROBLEM AS WELL. IT CANNOT BE SAFE TO HAVE A SYSTEM THAT OVERFILLS AND SPILLS GASOLINE EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU FILL YOUR VEHICLE CREATING A SIGNIFICANT RISK OF FIRE.

THIS IS NOT A NEW ISSUE WITH THESE JEEPS AND IT IS A FIX THAT SHOULD BE DONE BY THE MANUFACTURER DUE TO THE OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY IF NOT CORRECTED. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE VEHICLE UP WITH GAS AND IT'S RIDICULOUS.

MY JEEP WRANGLER SPEWS GAS ON EVERY FILL UP. RUINED PANTS, SHOES. FEAR GAS IS GOING TO IGNITE FROM HOT EXHAUST. DOES EVERY EVERY TIME. SOMEONE GOING TO GET HURT SERIOUSLY. EVERYONE IS PURCHASING GM FILLER TUBE WITH FLAPPER TO REPLACE JEEP FILLER. DONE SO FREQUENTLY CAN'T GET PART. JEEP COULD FIX EASILY INSTALLING 20 DOLLAR FILLER TUBE OR PUTTING NEW VALVE IN TANK. THIS IS SERIOUS.
WHEN YOU FILL UP THE GAS TANK THE AUTOMATIC STOP DOESN'T WORK AND THE GAS SPILLS OUT ALL OVER THE PLACE. I BOUGHT THE JEEP USED ON JULY 11, 2014, AND I JUST HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHEN I BOUGHT IT, IT HAD 35,000 MILES, NOW I HAVE 70,666 MILES. I WENT ONLINE AND ON THE JEEP FORUM AND YOUTUBE SOME PEOPLE HAD FIXES BY BUYING A GM NEW FUEL FILLER HOSE PART #15131046 AND REPLACING IT AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED. ACCORDING TO WHAT I'VE READ THE WARRENTIES WERE EXTENDED FOR 2007 AND OVER BUT NOT THE 2006'S.
FUEL TANK FILLER NECK SPILLS GASOLINE FORCEFULLY OVER THE SIDE, FENDER FLARE AND GROUND, WHICH REQUIRES A SPILL KIT TO BE USED TO CLEANUP THE PUDDLE CREATED BY THIS SPILL. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED BEFORE AND WAS FIXED USING THE SAME FAULTY PARTS WHICH AT THAT TIME WAS UNDER WARRANTY. APPROXIMATELY 4000 MILES LATER THE SAME SPILLING OF GASOLINE OCCURRED BUT DEALERSHIP SAID THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME $1000 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD AS WELL AS A POSSIBLY SEVERE INJURY TO MYSELF AS THE GASOLINE COULD FLY INTO MY EYES OR UNTO MY CLOTHES. I DEMAND A COMPLETE NEW FUEL TANK CONFIGURATION AND FUEL FILLER NECK PARTS. TWO EXACT PROBLEMS MEANS FAULTY EQUIPMENT PARTS AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED WITH UPDATED PARTS. THE JEEP HAS WHAT HAS BEEN TERMED THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE. THE JEEP IS ALL STOCK, NOT LIFTED AT ALL. I HAVE FIRED THE PARTS CANNON AT THE JEEP...ALL THE WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED BY FACTORY TRAINED TECHNICIANS USING OE PARTS. I HAVE CHANGED THE TIRES TWICE IN 20,000 MILES. 2006 WRANGLER UNLIMITED (RUBICON) OVERFILLS WITH GASOLINE BEFORE THE PUMP STOPS. ABOUT A CUP OF FUEL, DOES NOT MATTER WHICH GAS STATION OR HOW FAST THE TANK IS FILLED. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I PURCHASED IT FROM JEEP DEALER IN 2013.
WHILE FUELING MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER, THE FUEL FAILED TO STOP DISPENSING WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL. THIS RESULTED IN FUEL SPEWING OUT FROM THE TANK. THE FUEL GOT ON ME AS WELL AS THE JEEP AND THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDING AREAS. I HAVE FUELED THE JEEP AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS WITH THE SAME RESULT. FUEL SPILLING OUT FROM THE TANK IS A SERIOUS FIRE, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND HEALTH HAZARD. AFTER REVIEWING THE NHTSA'S WEBSITE AS WELL AS OTHER REPUTABLE SOURCES, THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM/COMPLAINT. I'M AWARE THAT THE 2007 AND NEWER JEEPS HAVE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I FAILED TO REALIZE HOW SUCH A COMMON AND SERIOUS PROBLEM CAN BE IGNORED IN THE 2006 JEEPS.
JUST PURCHASED THIS JEEP FROM A DEALERSHIP AND WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK WITH GAS IT OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME SPILLING GAS ALL OVER THE GROUND AND OVER THE DRIVERS REAR QUARTER PANEL. IT IS HARD TO STOP THE OVERFLOW DUE TO THE GAS COMING OUT, DANGER OF FUEL GETTING ON MY CLOTHES WHICH THEN MAKES ME FLAMMABLE AND SMELL LIKE FUEL. THERE IS ALWAYS THE DANGER OF FUEL GETTING IN MY EYES AS WELL, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THIS FLAW. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT ALL OF THE 2005 AND 2006 JEEP OWNERS SHOULD HAVE TO DISH OUT $900 FOR A NEW FUEL TANK THAT WILL FAIL AGAIN ANYWAY BECAUSE THE ICV VALVE WILL JUST FAIL AGAIN. THIS IS A STATIONARY ISSUE WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK. CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SPILLING GAS ON THE GROUND EVERY TIME IS THAT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.

WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, IT WILL OVERFLOW, SPILLING GAS ON THE SIDE OF THE JEEP WRANGLER, THE TIRE AND THE GROUND. IT SEEMS LIKE THE FLAPPER VALVE IN THE FILLER NECK ISN'T PREVENTING SPILLS. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME I'VE FILLED UP, SO I TRY NOT TO FILL THE TANK ANYMORE. I BELIEVE IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY AND FIRE HAZARD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE REFUELING, THE FUEL PUMP FAILED TO SHUT OFF AND CAUSED FUEL TO SPEW OUT WITH FORCE AND SPILL ONTO THE GROUND. WHEN REFILLING MY GAS TANK THE GAS PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF AND GAS SPILLS OUT WITH FORCE CAUSING GAS TO SPILL ALL OVER THE PLACE (MYSELF, JEEP & THE GROUND). WHEN FILLING GAS TANK, FUEL GUSHES (NOT A DROP, NOT A TRICKLE, RATHER A VIOLENT EXPULSION OF FUEL) FROM THE FILL NECK. MANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
I PURCHASED THIS JEEP USED AND THE VERY FIRST TIME I FILLED THE FUEL TANK, GAS SPEWED PROFUSELY FROM THE TANK OPENING WITHOUT TRIGGERING THE NOZZLE TO STOP AS THE TANK WAS APPROACHING FULL. THIS CAUSES GASOLINE TO SPRAY ALL OVER THE VEHICLE, THE PUMP, THE OPERATOR, AND TO PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. THIS SAME SCENARIO HAS PLAYED OUT AT EVERY GAS STATION I HAVE VISITED SINCE. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO TRY TO GUESS WHEN THE TANK IS CLOSE TO FULL AND STOP THE PUMP PREMATURELY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE THAT WARRANTS IMMEDIATE CORRECTION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FILLER NECK DOESN'T CLOSE FAST ENOUGH WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THUS RESULTING IN GAS SPEWING OUT ONTO THE JEEP (CONSEQUENTLY FADING ANY FENDER YOU HAVE INSTALLED) AND ONTO YOUR PERSON. AS PER SEVERAL CAR MECHANICS' CONSULTATIONS, THE ETHANOL IN GAS IS/HAS ERODED THE FILLER NECK AND IT CAN'T CLOSE IN TIME. APPARENTLY THE ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED IN LATER MODELS OF THE JEEP WRANGLER. IT IS A NEARLY $600 FIX (INCLUDING LABOR). TEMPORARY SOLUTION: ONLY PUT ABOUT $25 IN THE GAS TANK AT A TIME (WHICH IS INCONVENIENT IS YOU ARE CONSTANTLY TRAVELING).

WHEN REFUELING FUEL TANK ON THIS VEHICLE THE FUEL PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN FUEL ENTERS FILLING TUBE OF VEHICLE THUS CAUSING FUEL TO BE SPILLED OUT OF THE FILLING TUBE AND ONTO EXTERIOR OF VEHICLE, DRIVING SURFACE AND FUEL FILLING SYSTEM INCLUDING THE HOSES AND PUMP(S).
