2022 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

Issue has occurred at least 4 times: upon start, vehicle infotainment system appears in Italian language (difficult to revert to English as menu controls are now in a foreign language). Forward Collision OFF warning light illuminates on dash. Vehicle settings show all forward collision warning systems are ON. Servicing dealership has not identified any Diagnostic Trouble Codes with forward collision warning systems. Only way to reset system is dealer service via propriety manufacturer software. The Forward collision Warning light came on again after switching to Italian. Dealership says the warranty just ran out but this multiple times this happens and clearly it has not been fixed. FCW issue

Screens switches to Italian, also screens freeze or go blank, Front Collision Warning (FCW) light illuminates and can't be turned off. Bluetooth randomly disconnects, Auto door locks don't engage; paddle shifters for manual gear selection cease functioning, pedestrian avoidance, automatic emergency braking, and high-beam assist stop working; memory seats unexpectedly adjust while driving. I have to bring the car to the dealer to fix this, this happens every 14 days or so.

Earlier this spring, when we started our 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the language had changed itself to Italian, the units were metric, the ‘Forward Collision’ off icon was stuck on the dashboard. Also the paddle shifters did not work. In May, 2025, we paid $204.41 to Gary Mathews Motors in Clarksville, TN to ‘diagnose’ and ‘fix’ the issue. Fast forward to this month, and the issue happened again! They didn’t ‘fix’ anything. The system has many errors, The primary issue is the forward collision warning indicator light is on showing that the service is off. But it isn't, you can go into the system settings and turn the service on and off without issue. The light stays on. It does work as far as I can tell also. It seems to be causing the paddle shifting to be disabled. I can't downshift going down a steep grade and am being required to use by brakes. Which can be very dangerous. I have code B273C-00 digital crash input on my jeep. This is the code dealerships were informed if they see this code the vehicles have to be grounded. At this time, there is no remedy for the grand cherokees. The dealership can't release my jeep back due to safety reasons, and it's been with them for over an month and counting.

Without warning or being given an option to reject the update, my vehicle was updated to settings that no longer offer paddle shifting or the ability to enable or disable the Pedestrian Emergency Braking (PEB) system. The latter results in being unable to turn off the Forward Collision Off light on the dashboard. The update also wiped out most of my settings and changed units of measure to the metric system. According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. The vehicle in September of 2024 after a software update randomly changed the settings. The forward collision off warning light remains on (in settings the forward collision is "on", the language changed to Italian, the paddle shifters stopped working, the units changed, and the grid for the backup camera was turned off). I had it serviced at Jeep. They reset the vehicle which temporarily fixed the issue, however, 3 weeks later it happened again. There is a known MOPAR/star case number S2108000249. This is also reported in Jeep Forum. My safety is at risk due to the failure of the forward collision warning light/software malfunction. I feel that I am at risk for a forward collision. Also the paddle shifters don't work.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the forward warning collision light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that a system reset was needed following an over the air software update. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance instead advising the the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 41,000.

My Jeep, when using adaptive cruise control, will occasionally apply emergency breaking when a vehicle passes alongside me in an adjacent lane in the same direction of travel. I’ve had other cars directly behind me when this happens and it appears to other drivers like I’m “break checking” them. Usually it’s triggered when the passing adjacent vehicle is a tractor trailer or a truck pulling a trailer. Furthermore, the actual early warning forward crash detection does not work at all. I have no warning lights alerting me of a malfunction.

While traveling/driving with the ADAS on, the brakes slam on detecting a front end impact. The dash board disappears and the word BRAKE in all red capital lettering with a very loud beeping coming through the speakers happens. The first time it happened was in Oct of 2023 and has happened every time I travel using the ADAS. I have made an appt every time I’ve gotten back to town after traveling to have it looked at. #1 I’ve been told they can’t find a problem with it, #2 It’s been recalibrated 3 times and the service manager even asked for my permission to take my vehicle to his personal home for the weekend so that he could follow the FCA guidelines after it was recalibrated because it had to sit for a time period before it was drove. A service was scheduled to repair the rear view camera visibility in which the dealership failed to complete. The recall repair performed did not fix the situation. The rear view camera still shows up as a blue screen as well as the parksense sensors not working at all. This is a huge safety issue as nothing is shown when backing up and no sensors work. This problem occurred randomly while starting the vehicle and has not worked since then.

While driving on the highway with the adaptive cruise control set to 77mph, the forward collision alert went off and tapped the brakes while passing a vehicle towing a trailer in the lane to the right. looking back at video on my dash cam, there was nothing in the road that should have set off the warning and the other vehicle was within their lane the entire time. I have had several false warnings in the past but this was the first time it applied the brakes.

My car just put on the emergency brakes/forward collision warning while I was driving down the road out of nowhere and slammed on the brakes.

The Forward Collision Warning light comes on display cluster during start indicating it is turned off. Adaptive Cruise Control does not appear to be working because it doesn't give warning upon closing in on the vehicle in front of my vehicle and I have had to react by tapping brake to turn the cruise off. Parking Collision Warning works intermittently. These problems showed up after a software update done at dealership. When I took it in recently was told they could not find any problems.

Had multiple close encounters with vehicles in front of us suddenly stopping and no response from system, Also front parking sensors do not indicate when approaching an object until almost in contact, might get a visual on dash cluster, then a the audible afterwards, long time in between Getting back in vehicle and starting ti leave, now sensors are both visual and beeping One more item, using the self parking feature, gad to apply brakes before feeling that our vehicle was going to hit vehicle behind us in spot

Twice in the last month I was driving to work on a two lane road without any objects in the roadway and the forward collision warning system automatically applied the breaks hard enough for my coffee to splash out of my coffee cup. It occurred at almost the same spot on the road. However, I drive this road at least twice a day. I'm concerned that it might apply the breaks randomly while driving on the highway, thus causing an accident. I have reported it to the dealer. Despite me relaying my safety concern to them, I am unable to get an appointment until July 8th.
