Defect: Jayco, Inc., (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 and 2011 Greyhawk Class C motorhomes, model year 2008-2011 Melbourne Class C motorhomes, and 2008-2010 Octane Sport Utility travel trailers manufactured from May 21, 2007, through September 10, 2010, equipped with Iota-brand transfer switches. These trailers may have an improper electrical connection at the buss bar on the affected transfer switches....
Consequence: Overheating and melting of the transfer switch increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transfer switch, free of charge. The recall began on October 10, 2012. Owners may contact Jayco at 1-800-283-8267.

Defect: JAYCO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010- 2011 GREYHAWK CLASS C MOTOR HOMES MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 28, 2009, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 22, 2010 FOR AN IMPROPER ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AT THE BUSS BAR ON THE AFFECTED TRANSFER SWITCHES.
Consequence: THIS COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING AND MELTING OF THE TRANSFER SWITCH, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE, INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TRANSFER SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING NOVEMBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAYCO AT 1-800-283-8267.

Defect: JAYCO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 TRAVEL TRAILERS AND FIFTH WHEELS MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 16, 2010, THROUGH OCTOBER 1, 2010, EQUIPPED WITH ATWOOD 35 SERIES RANGE OVENS. A POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR A SMALL FRACTURE WITHIN THE LINE DELIVERING GAS TO THE OVEN CAVITY BURNER. SUCH A FRACTURE MAY CAUSE PROPANE GAS TO LEAK FROM THE LINE.
Consequence: A PROPANE LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE AND/OR EXPLOSION CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY.
Remedy: JAYCO IS WORKING WITH ATWOOD AND WILL REPLACE OR REPAIR THE STOVES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 8, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ATWOOD AT 1-574-266-4749 OR JAYCO AT 1-574-825-0608.

NO INCIDENT, BUT INTERESTED IN AN INVESTIGATION BECAUSE OF SAFETY. I AM ALSO INTERESTED IN CHECKING TO SEE IF JAYCO CAN ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH 2010-2015 CLASS C MOTORHOME OWNERS. HTTP://WWW.JAYCOOWNERS.COM/FORUMS/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=23499 WARNING SUSPENSION PROBLEMS - HELLWIG SPRINGS ADJUSTED INCORRECTLY FROM THE FACTORY JAYCO INCORRECTLY INSTALLED THE HELLWIG HELPER SPRINGS ON MANY GREYHAWK MOTORHOMES WITH THE "J-RIDE" PACKAGE. THIS CAN CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND OR DEATH. THE REDHAWK BRAND MAY ALSO BE AFFECTED. IF YOU OWN A GREYHAWK OR REDHAWK MOTORHOME I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU INSPECT YOUR HELLWIG SPRINGS ADJUSTMENT. I HAVE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF AN INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED SPRING AND A CORRECTLY ADJUSTED SPRING. IF THE SPRINGS ARE NOT CORRECTLY ADJUSTED THE SPRING SHACKLE CAN FAIL DUE TO THE BOLTS STRIPPING THE THREADS. GIVEN THE WEIGHT OF THE UNIT THE HELLWIG HELPER SPRINGS SHOULD BE ADJUSTED SO THERE IS APPROXIMATELY 3/4" - 1" OF DISTANCE TO THE FACTORY SPRINGS. *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERING THE INTERIOR OF THE MOTOR HOME WHEN THE GENERATOR IS USED TO PROVIDE ELECTRICAL POWER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP ON THREE OR FOUR PRIOR VISITS (CAMPING WORLD IN ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO) AND THEY REPORTED THAT THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. I LIVED IN THE VEHICLE FOR A PERIOD OF TWO MONTHS BETWEEN THE PERIOD OF FEBRUARY 4, 2014 THROUGH MARCH 28, 2014, AND I DISCOVERED THAT CARBON MONOXIDE IS ENTERING THE LIVING AREA OF THE VEHICLE WHILE THE GENERATOR IS OPERATING. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT TIME OF CARBON MONOXIDE ENTRY APPEARS TO BE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 40 DEGREES AND BETWEEN 11:00 P.M. THROUGH 6:00 A.M. (MOUNTAIN DAYLIGHT TIME). CAMPING WORLD TESTING IS NOT BEING CONDUCTED UNDER SIMILAR OPERATING CONDITIONS (TIME AND TEMPERATURE) AND IS NOT USING ADDITIONAL CARBON MONOXIDE MONITORING EQUIPMENT TO TEST OR DETECT THE LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THAT IS WHY THEIR TESTING DOES NOT SHOW THE PRESENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE RUN THE GENERATOR FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME AND WAITED FOR THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR ALARM TO SOUND. WE HAVE BECOME ILL ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE USING THIS VEHICLE WITH THE GENERATOR RUNNING, SO I NO LONGER USE THE GENERATOR WHILE SLEEPING, AS THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR ALARM ACTIVATES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JAYCO GREYHAWK CLASS C MOTOR HOME EQUIPPED WITH A SET OF MICHELIN LTX M/S TIRES, SIZE: LT225/75 R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13T012000 (TIRES) IN MID JANUARY 2014. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON SEPTEMBER 4 NIGHT A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL FIRE BROKE OUT INSIDE OUR NEW 2011 JAYCO 31SS. IT BURNED THROUGH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH CONNECTORS, WIRING AND PLASTIC BOX. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH AND TWO OTHER ELECTRONIC BOXES ARE UNDER THE BED AND THE FIRE COULD HAVE CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL BODILY DAMAGE AND/OR DEATHS. *KB ...UPDATED 08-03-12 *BF UPDATED 08/09/2012 *JS
