Defect: Indian Motorcycle Company (Indian) is recalling certain 2022 FTR 1200 R Carbon, FTR 1200, FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 Rally motorcycles. These motorcycles may have been assembled with an altered fuel tank containing holes that can leak fuel.

Consequence: A fuel tank leak increases the risk of fire or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 17, 2024. Owners may contact Indian customer service at 1-877-204-3697. Indian's number for this recall is I-24-09.

Consequence: Unintended illumination of the brake lights may create confusion for the drivers following the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Recall 22V636000 — ENGINE

Defect: Indian Motorcycle Company (Indian) is recalling certain 2019-2020 and 2022 FTR 1200, 2019-2020 FTR 1200 S, and 2020 FTR 1200 Rally motorcycles. The coolant junction may leak.

Consequence: Hot coolant leaking on a rider can increase the risk of injury. Coolant leaking on the rear tire can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the coolant junction, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 28, 2022. Owners may contact Indian customer service at 1-877-204-3697. Indian's number for this recall is I-22-04.

The contact owns a 2022 Indian FTR1200 Motorcycle. The contact stated that while riding at various speeds on several occasions, the motorcycle lost automotive power with battery failure and an inoperable ABS. The contact stated that the ECM was sending 16 amps to the battery instead of the standard 14 amps, causing the battery to fail prematurely. The motorcycle was taken to a local dealer and was diagnosed with electrical failures; however, the motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,300.

The contact owns a 2022 Indian Motorcycle FTR1200. The contact stated while driving at 25 MPH, the contact smelled an odor of burning coming from the motorcycle, followed by the check engine and another unknown warning light illuminated, and the motorcycle started overheating. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road safely and had the motorcycle towed to a friend’s home. The motorcycle was not diagnosed. The dealer was contacted but no appointment was set. The manufacturer was contacted, and they stated that the dealer had to call and order the parts. The failure mileage was 500.
