The contact owns a 2005 Hyundai XG350. The contact stated upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for an oil change, she was informed that the subframe was severely corroded and had holes and cracks in the subframe. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V124000 (Suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under the recall as the VIN was not included. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

The under body frame and oil container rotted and the frame came apart. Problem was noticed with oil change. I noticed that all of these models years were recalled except 2005 ... why not? They were virtually the same car. I want a repair or a rebate for this manufacturer problem since I have less then 100000 miles on this 15 year old car.

1) The vehicle idle is too high. It jerks forward every time I'm at a stop then I want to go forward. I have almost ran into the back of other cars while waiting at a stop sign. 2) The bolts and Subframe is coming detached from the car. It has been confirmed by dealership and franchise auto repair places (2 of them) that the car motor is knocking around and the subframe is loose! I've currently spent over $2000 alone in repairs on the suspension, rack and pinion & oil leak & manifold intake issues since purchase in 2019. Besides the check engine light turning on and off, there was no prior warning of the subframe and/or it's bolts being rusted out prior to purchase or prior to mechanics telling me about this dangerous repair needing done. Why is the 2001-2004 XG350 have recalls on this but not the...

I AM WRITING IN REGARD TO MY 2005 HYUNDAI XG350L WITH 143,500 MILES. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. ON APRIL 16 2009 THERE WAS AN NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL # 09V124000 FOR SUSPENSION. THIS RECALL WAS FOR 2001-2004 SONATA, 2001-2004 XG300 AND XG350 VEHICLES SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN ILLINOIS AND OTHER RUST BELT STATES. THE RECALL PERTAINED TO INTERNAL CORROSION OF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME. AT THE TIME IN 2009 I FELT I HAD NOTHING TO FEAR BECAUSE MY 2005 MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. LOW AND BEHOLD NOW ALMOST 9 YEARS LATER FROM THE APRIL 2009 RECALL MY SUB-FRAME HAS THE SAME ISSUE (PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS). I CALLED HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA (HMA) CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND THEY MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME AT ETTLESON HYUNDAI IN COUNTRYSIDE IL WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC AT ETTELSON INSPECTED THE CAR AND SERVICE...

MY 2005 HYUNDAI XG350L WAS DEEMED "UNDRIVEABLE" TONIGHT AT THE SERVICE CENTER (AFTER BEING TAKEN IN FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE), AS THE FRAME WAS CORRODED TO THE POINT OF NEARLY-CRUMBLING. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN IN IOWA (ALWAYS PARKED IN GARAGES) FROM THE YEAR OF PURCHASE IN 2005 TO AUGUST 2016. THE SALT CORROSION RECALL COVERS MODEL YEARS 2001-2004, BUT MYSTERIOUSLY DOES NOT INCLUDE MODEL YEAR 2005. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE! I AM VERY FRUSTRATED THAT HYUNDAI DOES NOT COVER MY UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR AN ISSUE THEY CREATED AND FOR WHICH THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. THIS IS A DISAPPOINTING AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI XG350. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE FRONT SUSPENSION ARM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRACTURED, CAUSING THE WHEEL TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
