2007 HYUNDAI ENTOURAGE — Problems, Recalls & Safety Data

The valve over eventually leaks oil that drips down on to the alternator. This cause the electrical system to fail, the battery and brake lights come on. Then slowly all lights come on as battery shuts down. This is a known issue with this engine. This happened to me yesterday while driving at night leaving the car unable to drive. When the battery completely shuts down you cannot even move the vehicle out of Park, as electric is needed to disengage the the shifter from park, so you cannot even push the vehicle off of the road. Hyundai has a recall for the exact same engine in the Veracruz. 2007 HYUNDAI ENTOURAGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO BROKEN POWER STEERING BELT.

The ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and exited the vehicle while it caught fire. No injury was sustained. The fire department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. The contact was not aware if there were fire department and police reports filed. The vehicle was towed to her sister's residence and was not yet deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V061000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 207,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact stated while driving 5 MPH in a parking lot and making a left turn, he heard an abnormal noise coming from the front passenger’s side tire and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park the vehicle safely. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the insurance facility and then towed to an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the front passenger’s side control arm, the front driver’s side control arm, and the constant velocity axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V556000 (Suspension) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.
