My engine seized up at only around 74,859 miles. As I was driving it immediately seized up on the roadway causing a hazardous condition. There was no check engine light on to warn me. I had the vehicle towed to dealership and had them inspect the vehicle and take the engine apart. They told me the crankshaft bearings were disintegrated. There were consistent oil changes done with this vehicle. I am now expected to pay $5,000 to $13,000 for a new engine. This is a 2022 Honda Ridgeline.
Coming down a ramp in parking deck with right foot lightly riding the brake pedal to control the car’s descent when all of a sudden the vehicle accelerated full throttle as if the gas pedal had been “floored.” The acceleration was so intense that it drove my body backward into my seat and pulled my foot off the brake. At this point, the only control I had was my hands on the steering wheel. With the car continuing to accelerate towards the parked cars, I quickly turned the steering wheel to the right, but too late and the front driver side of my vehicle clipped one of the parked cars. My foot is still in the air and yet the car is still surging ahead full throttle and my vehicle is flying towards a car that had come down the ramp a few seconds ahead of me. At this point...
The CEL flashed 2 days earlier, I immediately pulled to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off, suspecting it may be a misfire. Restarted the vehicle and all seemed fine. After arriving home i plugged in my scanner to check for a code. No codes were found. I decided to carry my scanner in the vehicle, and plugged it in before starting a 10 mile drive to a store. After 3 miles, the CEL flashed and displayed code P0303 cylinder 3 misfire. I pulled to the side of the busy interstate I was on and turned the vehicle off. When I restarted the engine, a heard a rattling sound and turned it off. I then called the dealer and asked me to have it towed in. The dealer diagnosed a cylinder #3 spun rod bearing. This occured at 68,517 odometer miles.
Click noise everything car starts, coming is loose or moving afterwards
vehicle did not restart when using the auto start stop feature at a red light.
The contact owned a 2022 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, it caught on fire. The vehicle was unoccupied. The contact stated that the next-door neighbor knocked on the contact's door, screaming that the vehicle was on fire. The contact stated that the fire originated from under the engine hood before the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The fire department was called. The fire department extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained. The contact stated that the vehicle remained in the contact's driveway, and the fire consumed the vehicle. The vehicle was melted down and almost spread to the contact's house. The contact stated that it would probably take special equipment to remove the vehicle from the contact's driveway. In addition, the contact stated that when the vehicle was parked, there were no warning lights illuminated and no issues with the vehicle. The manufacturer was...
2022 Honda Ridgeline with 22,000 miles failed to auto restart at a traffic light. Driver had to manually restart the vehicle. Other drivers were forced to drive around at the intersection. No error codes were present on OBD2 connector.
While trying to accelerate quickly from the start ,low 15 mph and moderate speeds when you feel you have to push the accelerator pedal all the way at once to the floor theirs a bad Hesitation where the vehicle is going nowhere. The accelerator cable by wire doesn't RESPOND when you want to accelerate . This can cause an ACCIDENT When you attempt to accelerate and the vehicle doesn't get out of its own way. This problem has the same symptoms of the older style carburetors when the accelerator pump goes bad. I asked the dealership about this problem and the reply is ,there's no Check engine light or CODES. Vehicle is working as it should . Problems happened soon after the purchase of vehicle.
On multiple occasions at highway speeds when coasting for a few seconds roughly 50mph to 70mph, the truck begins to stall/ lose power. We thought it was related to the Auto-idle feature, but the last two events I had it turned off. This has happened 5 or 6 times to me and my wife since about six months after buying the truck. Four of the events - November 2023: [XXX] in New Jersey at ~50 mph, engine lost power, applying gas did nothing. A few seconds later it regained power and made a buzzing noise. [XXX]: On [XXX] in Virginia, going down hill at ~70 mph, the engine lost power without warning, steering & brake pedal began to freeze up as if the truck was turning off when coasting briefly down with the flow of traffic. I pumped the gas pedal to no avail - a couple of seconds later...
The truck has had ~6 occurrences since purchased where the engine briefly loses power in highway cruising speeds between ~50 and 75mph At first we thought it was a safety feature or governor on the truck – or a malfunctioning of the Auto-idle. I mentioned the incidents to the dealer service techs where we bought it but there was no awareness or acknowledgement of issues or a safety feature that would do this. This has happened to both my wife and me when driving; we began documenting the events - the last 3 are as follows: [XXX], midday. [XXX], VA, going downhill at ~70 mph, engine began stalling without warning when I eased off the gas to coast briefly downhill in the flow of traffic; steering and brake pedal began to freeze. I gave it gas, pumping the pedal to no immediate effect; a couple of seconds later it recovered...
Vehicle goes into limp mode, limited power, flashing check engine light This happens after extended period on highway (hour or more) below 20 degrees F. When you exit highway and come to a stop. All good as soon as you try to accelerate CEL starts flashing and I have reduced power. To correct this. The vehicle has to be shut off and restarted. This means it happens when pulling out into traffic from a stand still at a stop light stop sign. Limited to about 15 mph regardless of road pulling onto. Then have to pull over shut off and restart put back in drive and go. This is not ideal in most cases and dangerous. Honda released a TSB but will not cover if out of warranty. I filed case with Honda at 70 K. They agreed to pay for parts and labor minus $50 deductible and sales tax...
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine was abnormally loud before the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the sound was extremely loud like the rod bearings were banging together. Additionally, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,150.
2022 Ridgeline's Auto Idle Engine Off/On activated while driving/moving. This week it occurred (Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024) on I95 in Virginia when going down hill at approximately 70 mph. The engine ceased without warning and the steering and brake pedal began to freeze up when I had eased off the gas to coast briefly down hill (in order to keep in the flow of traffic). I then gave it gas, pumping the pedal, and a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up; the Truck’s starter buzzed loudly as it restarted. I avoided an accident in traffic by not panicking and luckily because the vehicle behind us was not tailgating and that the section of highway was straight and not on a bend - otherwise it could have been catastrophic. The rest of the trip we turned the feature off and the truck had no incidents. Based on the...
This happened on the interstate. This happens repeatedly (about once per week) for my spouse, but today was the first time for me. I was changing lanes at about 75 MPH, and the tachometer dropped to zero despite my further depressing the accelerator. I took my foot off and again depressed the accelerator and the engine reengaged. I have not had the dealer look at this yet. There were no warning lamps or other messages in the driver information.
Approximately six times between November 2023 and April 2024, the vehicle has experienced a loss of power. Details of the incidents : Pressed gas pedal to increase speed (at least twice on interstate); buzzing/grinding noise from left front side; vehicle lost all acceleration, but did not stall; depressed gas pedal and situation resolved itself in about 3-5 seconds Tachometer went to zero Econ mode was enabled Temperature was near freezing Vehicle was not under heavy load
The incident with my 2022 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition occurred while driving on the interstate from Minneapolis back to my home in Illinois (Chicago suburbs). While taking an exit ramp to a different interstate I slowed down before the turn and then, when accelerating to merge onto the other interstate, my Ridgeline "check engine" light began flashing and the vehicle began to limp along at a maximum speed of ~40MPH. I quickly pulled off to a parking lot and arranged for a tow truck for the next day, as it was very late in the evening and very cold. The next morning, I went to meet the tow truck at the parking lot, and I started up my Honda Ridgeline with no issues (and no check engine light). It was then that I found a message board conversation titled “Check engine light flashing after freeway driving” on the internet [XXX]...
After driving approximately 2.5 hours at 70 miles per hour, I took an exit off of the interstate and stopped at the stoplight at the bottom of the exit ramp. After about 1 minute the light turned green and I accelerated sharply and turned left. The Check Engine Light started to flash and the vehicle experienced a significant loss of power. I was unable to accelerate to match the speed of the traffic around me and created a hazard while attempting to find a safe place to pull off the road. After about 1/4 of a mile I was able to pull off the road. I shut off the vehicle and waited about 5 minutes. I restarted the vehicle and the light didn't return and it had full power, so I completed my trip. Additional info, outdoor temp was 34 degrees F. I was driving into a 25 MPH headwind...
After driving for approximately 275 miles in winter temperatures but with normal driving conditions, upon taking a banked turn the check engine light flashed while the engine lost power and caused the car to begin shaking. I pulled over and was able to pull diagnostic codes from the vehicle. The vehicle reported that two cylinders were misfiring. Upon restarting the car the vehicle operated normally. I brought this vehicle in to the dealer who was familiar with the problem but responded that Honda has no resolution yet. This problem seems to affect multiple years and models of Honda vehicles (using the 3.5L engine).
On two seperate occasions now my 2022 Ridgeline, which has less than 5000 miles, has lost considerable power when attempting to merge onto a highway and had the check engine light start flashing. This has required me to quickly pull over off the road as I was merging and unable to get my speed up. When this occurred, I had been driving on a highway for about an hour and was merging from the highway onto a larger interstate. The temperature outside was approximately 20 degrees F and my gas tank was above 3/4 tank that was purchased 2 days earlier.
Driving on interstate in 10 degree F weather. Exited interstate on exit ramp. Stopped at end of ramp. Light turned green so I accelerated and the check-engine-light began flashing, engine shook a little bit, and I could no longer drive over 30mph. Multiple people behind me honking, flashing lights, etc to try and make me go faster when I couldn't. When stopped at a red light and idle engine auto-stop engaged the vehicle displayed battery warning light and a “Shift to Park” message on display. Vehicle had to be shifted into park and restarted manually before it could move. Your Questions: 1. Battery/Auto-stop-start system. Sure, you can inspect it. 2. Vehicle was non-responsive and immobile at a busy intersection. 3. No, the incident just happened today, but apparently the NHTSA is investigating a similar problem in the Pilot, a mechanically identical vehicle. https://wtop.com/national/2022/06/us-investigating-complaints-that-honda-engines-wont-restart/ 4. No 5.None. Red battery dash light illuminated at time of incident. I did not notice it before this happened. The vehicle had been at freeway speeds for 30+ minutes, so low voltage shouldn't have been an issue. It was below-freezing at the time, however.
2022 HONDA RIDGELINE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MALFUNCTION. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THERE WAS NO ENGINE RPM RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE PEDAL APPLICATION. THE ENGINE WOULD INCREASE/DECREASE THE RPM WITH SPEED. THE MAX SPEED WAS 35. THE VEHICLE WAS RETARTED AND OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,258.
After 1h 45min ride on highway in 14F I was taking exit ramp and with only 500 miles on the truck the check engine started blinking, I pulled over shut off the engine, started it back up and all was good, went to dealer and they said no code was stored
