WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR DOWN, AND STARTER AROUND THE OTHER VEHICLE, WHEN I HAD COMPLETED MY PASSING, I RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR, BUT IT DID NOT RESPOND. I CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED AT FULL THROTTLE. AFTER JAMMING DOWN HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR IT RELEASE THE THROTTLE BACK TO THE IDLE POSITION. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *NM
I PURCHASED A HONDA CRV LX (4WD) IN NOV'06 FROM FAIRFAX HONDA, VA. THE CAR HAD ~ 4400 MILES ON IT WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. WE WERE DRIVING NEAR WHEELING, WV RETURNING BACK TO FAIRFAX, VA. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AS WE WERE NEGOTIATING A MILD CURVE AND SLOPE. JUST OVER THE TOP OF THE SLOPE, THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOPPED. THE WHOLE THING FROM SLOW-DOWN TO ABRUPT HALT WAS 5-10 SECONDS. INITIALLY I COULDN'T EVEN GET IT TO PUT IT ON NEUTRAL TO GET MOVE IT TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER THIS IT HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY FRUSTRATING TIME WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN AND HAS TO BE REPLACED (STILL HAVEN'T TOLD ME WHAT CAUSED IT). BEING A NEW CAR WITH SUCH...
