The contact owns a 2005 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The contact stated there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure recurred, and the contact parked the vehicle and had not driven the vehicle due to the safety concern. The failure mileage was approximately 209,300.
BOUGHT VEHICLE IN AUGUST, USED WITH 136,000 MILES. THE FIRST WEEK, THE A/C COMPRESSOR WENT OUT. THE 2ND WEEK, THE CONDENSER. 2 WEEKS LATER THE CAR STALLED OUT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSA AND WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED AND IT WAS THROWING 4 CODES. P1009 61-1 62-1 83-1. TOOK IT IN UNDER DEALER WARRANTY. THE CHANGED THE O2 SENSORS AND GAVE IT BACK. 2 WEEKS LATER, SAME THING ONLY NOW IT WAS BURNING OIL AND GAS AND RUNNING REALLY RICH. THE OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS EVEN. THEY DID A WHOLE ENGINE SWAP AND A NEW STARTER, AMONG OTHER THINGS. AND 2 WEEKS LATER IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. AND THE CRANK SHAFT AND VTEC SOLENOID NEEDED REPLACED. AS WELL AS THE STARTER. 9 TIMES I'VE HAD IT AND NOW AFTER THE SAME BURNING THROUGH OIL AND GAS ISSUES IT'S STARTED SMOKING AND MAKING A GRINDING SOUND...
WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP DRIVING HOME ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, THE A/C COMPRESSOR WENT OUT. AFTER A FEW MILES WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE SHOT UP AND IT STARTED OVERHEATING. WE GOT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AS FAST AS WE COULD. WHEN WE PULLED OVER, MY HUSBAND OPENED THE HOOD AND INTENSE STEAM BLEW OUT FROM THE RADIATOR AREA. TURNED OUT THAT, UNBEKNOWNST TO US, THE COMPRESSOR SEIZED UP AND CAUSED THE SERPENTINE BELT TO BREAK, WHICH DISABLED THE WATER PUMP. IT RUINED THE DAMAGED THE RADIATOR AND WARPED THE HEAD GASKET. WE WERE 2 1/2 HOURS FROM HOME! ONCE WERE ABLE TO GET IT REPAIRED AND HOME, WE TOOK IT IN TO THE MECHANIC SO HE COULD LOOK AT THE A/C. METAL SHARDS WERE IN THE CONDENSER AND IT EVENTUALLY GOT INTO THE LINE AND INTO THE COMPRESSOR. ANOTHER A/C ISSUE HAS BEEN THE...
AC COMPRESSOR / CONDENSER ORIGINALLY WENT BAD SUMMER 2017 AND WAS REPLACED. WORKED FOR REMAINDER OF SEASON INTO START OF NEXT SEASON. SUMMER 2018 WENT BAD AGAIN AND MECHANIC REPLACED IT AGAIN, STATING POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE PART. WORKED AGAIN FOR REMAINDER OF 2018 SEASON. BEGINNING/MID 2019 CAR HEAT / DEFROST STARTED TO WORK IMPROPERLY, NOT DEFROST, CAUSED ENGINE TO MAKE STRESSING NOISE BUT NOISE WOULD STOP IF I TURNED OFF SYSTEM (AC/HEAT/DEFROST). JUNE 2019 ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE SAME STRESSING NOISE EVEN WHEN AC SYSTEM WASN'T ON. FINALLY, MONDAY, 7/8/2019 WHILE DRIVING TO A CAR RENTAL PLACE, MY 2005 HONDA CR-V SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AT LEAST 5-6 TIMES TIL IT FINALLY BEGAN SMOKING FROM THE ENGINE AND I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER AND GET IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. I AM TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT IT IS YET AGAIN THE AC SYSTEM. THE IS NOW THE 3RD TIME I...
I PURCHASED A 2005 HONDA CRV IN 2018 OF FEBRUARY IN OZARK MISSOURI. IT WENT THROUGH A MISSOURI SAFETY CHECK AND PASSED A FEW MONTHS LATER I NEEDED TO COME BACK TO CALIFORNIA AND SINCE I'VE BEEN BACK WITHIN THREE MONTHS TIME MY ENGINE MY BELTS MY BRAKES MY STARTER MY ELECTRICAL SENSORS MY FUEL THEY HAVE ALL SEEM TO HAVE FAILED AND BEEN REPLACED BY A MECHANICAL I PAID IN DECEMBER 2018 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE TO TAKE MY CAR IN SO THE AIRBAGS CAN BE CHECKED THE WHOLE ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEED CHECKING AS WELL BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SAFE CAR TO DRIVE AND I'VE BEEN FEELING THAT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IT STARTED OFF AS A GOOD CAR BUT ONCE I CHANGE THE ENGINE OIL EVERYTHING SEEM TO MALFUNCTION AND GO DOWN LIKE DOMINOES CAR HAS FAILED TO START SEVERAL TIMES...
TAKATA RECALL. I TOOK MY HONDA CRV TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS REPLACED DUE TO THE RECALL. NOW MY AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM FIX THE ISSUE, BUT THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS UNRELATED. THEY SAID THE COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING UNTIL AFTER I TOOK IT IN. TOO COINCIDENTAL. AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH IT APEARS MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN WHICH HONDA DOES NOT COVER THE COST. PEOPLE ARE PAYING ROUGHLY $1000 TO REPLACE THEIR COMPRESSORS. I AM SUBMITTING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE THIS IS NOT RIGHT. I HOPE I AM NOT DEALING WITH A CORRUPT ORGANIZATION.
HAD TO REPLACE ENGINE MOUNT2X , SUSPENSION, ' CONTROL FOR WINDOW ON DRIVERS SIDE HALF WORKS. . FOR NO REASON DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SOME HOW FELL OUT OF THE SUPPORT OR GUIDING TRACK AND AND BROKE INSIDE THE DOOR PROBLEM NOW 3/17/18 FOR 5 MONTHS TGE WINDOW CONTROL ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOESN'T ROLL UP THE WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE YOU CAN KIND PUT IT DOWN . THEN LAST NIGHT TGE WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FALL OUT OF THE TRACK AND BREAKS INSIDE THE DOOR. SO NOW WE CAN NOT REALLY SAFE LICK THE CAR, LEAVING IT OPEN !! WITH POSSIBLE RAIN. ' HEADLIGHT CABLE- HEAD LIGHT BULB KEEPS BURNING OUT . ' ENGINE MOUNTS

AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR LOCKING UP
MY HUSBAND WAS ON THE WAY HOME AFTER A VISIT TO GEORGIA,HE WAS JUST WEST OF TALLAHASSEE WHEN THEE CAR STARTED ACTING LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS, JUMPING AND BUCKING. HE MANAGED TO GET IT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND THAT WAS IT NO PULLING NO NOTHING. WE CALLED OUR INSURANCE BECAUSE, BACK IN APRIL WE HAD A ACCIDENT AND THE CAR HAD TO GO BACK INTO THE SHOP SEVERAL FOR DIFFERENT REASONS, EACH TIME MY HUSBAND SAID "THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT ACTING RIGHT, THERE IS SLACK ACTION EVEN ON THE DAY HE LEFT WHICH BELIEVE WAS 29TH OF SEPTEMBER HE STOPPED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP HERE IN PENSACOLA AND WAS TOLD "YOU HAVE A LITTLE WATER BUT SHOULD BE OK. WELL BY THE END OF THE WEEK, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT THE CAR IS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND UNDRIVABLE. TOWED BACK TO TALLAHASSEE AND...
I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND GOT GAS. I TURNED OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING BEFORE TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, AS ALWAYS. GOT IN AND STARTED THE CAR, TURNED ON THE A/C, AND IT BLEW HOT AIR. I KEPT TRYING IT ALL THE WAY HOME AND NOTHING BUT HOT AIR. THE NEXT DAY I NOTICED A TICKING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD WHEN IT WAS IDLING. MID SUMMER, BUT NO MONEY TO BRING IT IN. ONE MONTH LATER THE TICKING UNDER THE HOOD GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE SO I TOOK IT IN FOR A FREE A/C CHECK. TURNS OUT THE WHOLE A/C SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (ESTIMATE $1000) COMPRESSOR W/CLUTCH, ORIFICE TUBE, RECEIVER/DRYER, AND RE-CHARGE. THOUSANDS OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS. AFTER STARTING THE CAR I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, TOOK OFF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE. MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE CAR TOOK OFF AT A HIGH SPEED AS IF I HAD FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL, AND WOULD NOT STOP WITH MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AT THAT TIME THE BRAKE WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR, SO I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. IN SEPTEMBER 2009 I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD NOT TO BRING THE CAR IN, THAT I MUST HAVE HAD THE MAT JAMMED ON TOP...
THE CAR WAS MAKING NOISE DIAGNOSED BY HONDA AS THE TRANSMISSION PUMP. CAR HAD ONLY 79,000 MILES AND WAS SERVICED REGULARLY AND ALL FLUIDS ARE CHANGED REGULARLY. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FIXED ELSEWHERE FOR HALF THE PRICE HONDA WANTED. I N,EVER HEARD OF A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA. *TR

THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE COMPRESSOR BEARINGS FAILING INTERNALLY AND CAUSING A HOLE IN THE CASING. THE ESTIMATE IS $1350.00 TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR, CONDENSER, EXPANSION VALVE AND FLUSH THE SYSTEM OF FRAGMENTS THAT MAY HAVE ENTERED THE SYSTEM. AFTER A PHONE CALL TO AMERICAN HONDA I AM TOLD THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND MY VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE IT'S WARRANTY PERIOD. SINCE THE REPAIRS HAVE ALREADY BEEN STARTED, I AM UNABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. HONDA'S POSITION IS THEY DO NOT HAVE CONTRACTS WITH INDEPENDENT SERVICE PROVIDERS SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME.THIS 2005 HONDA CRV HAS 90,000 MILES AND JOINS THE RANKS OF OTHER HONDAS WITH SIMILAR UNCOMPENSATED REPAIRS FOR AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE. *TR
