1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine piston rings failed or malfunctioned. These parts were previously replaced under a Honda recall in 2018 due to excessive oil consumption. The same issue has returned — the vehicle is again burning oil. The engine and related components remain available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The excessive oil consumption can cause low engine oil levels, which may lead to engine damage or stalling while driving. A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of an accident, especially at highway speeds or in traffic. Additionally, the burning oil produces smoke that can obstruct visibility for the driver and nearby vehicles. im scared it might damager my life or the life of others. 3. The car for the longest time makes a screech at first start and sometimes at other times. Also the steering is off center and wheel turns left and right when brakes applied and when going over bumps. I had steering and shocks and struts replaced and adjusted as well as alignments done problems still there. I had those parts replaced due to originally having problems with handling. I took car back to adjust twice still have problem. The noise is still there at start too. Not safe.
FOR WHATEVER REASON SINCE I GOT THIS CAR THERE IS SOMETHING EXTREMELY OFF WITH THE LACERATION BEING A BIT DELAYED AND THE CAR STEERING US EXTREMELY DELICATE KEEPING THE CAR NOT STEADY DRIVING IN A SINGLE LANE STRAIGHT WITHOUT GOING LEFT OR RIGHT IS IMPOSSIBLE. VEHICLE IS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD COUPE, V6 EX-L, MANUAL TRANSMISSION. 6/28/17: WHEN STARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER AN APPOINTMENT, THE ELECTRICAL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH. CALLED MECHANIC TO SEEK GUIDANCE. ABOUT HALF WHERE THERE, THE CAR FILLED WITH A LOUD HUM SOUND, THEN ABRUPTLY WENT AWAY. WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURNED OFF. TOOK CAR TO THE MECHANIC ANYWAY. ALTERNATOR WAS FAILING. REPLACED ALTERNATOR AT 60,665 MILES. 9/7/17: TOOK CAR TO LOCAL MECHANIC DUE TO PERSISTENT ROCKING NOISE THAT WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT SIDE OF THE CAR WHEN SLOWING/BRAKING. INFORMED OF A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING AT ANYTIME DUE TO A CRACK IN THE STEERING RACK AND PINON ASSEMBLY. REPLACED STEERING RACK AND PINON, OUTER TIE ROD ENDS AND THE MOTOR MOUNT BY THE DRIVE BELT AREA AT 62,201 MILES. ADDITIONAL PART ORDERED TO COMPLETE THE WORK TORSION ARM BUSHINGS) WAS ORDERED...
THE STEERING RACK (RACK AND PINION STEERING) ASSEMBLY BROKE ON MY VEHICLE. THE STEEL BAR USED TO MAKE THIS PART SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE BROKEN LET ALONE IN THE MANNER THAT IT DID. IT SHEARED AND THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT WASN'T HIT OR UNDER EXTREME STRAIN. I AM HIGHLY CONCERENED THIS MAY BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR OTHERS IN THE FUTURE. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN IT BROKE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE.
I BOUGHT MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD 2DR LX-S (5A) BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2010 AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH IT SINCE - MOST OF WHICH HAS GOTTEN WORSE THAT I AM SCARED FOR MY SAFETY AND THOSE ON THE ROAD. - WHILE DRIVING ON BOTH HIGHWAY AND NON HIGHWAY SPEEDS RANGING FROM 15MPH - 60MPH SEVERE RUBBER SMELL AND GRINDING OF BRAKES-SOUNDED AS IF THE ENTIRE CAR WAS GOING TO FALL APART. WHEN I GOT HOME THE REAR BRAKES AND PADS WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED, BLACK AND WERE EXTREMELY HOT TO TOUCH. SCHAUMBURG DEALERSHIP SAID THE REAR PADS WEREN'T INSTALLED CORRECTLY. -EVERYDAY SINCE MILE 25,000 MY CAR WHEN STARTED AT ANY TIME HAS MADE A LARGE AND EXTREMELY LOUD CRANKING NOISE THAT LASTS ABOUT 2 SECONDS. SCHAUMBURG DEALERSHIP DAYS THIS IS RELATED TO THE I-VTEC 4-CYLINDER ENGINE BUT IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. (THIS WAS AT 71,000 MILES). NO...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY-15 MPH ON A LOCAL ROUND-ABOUT AND THE ENGINE APPEARED TO STOP RUNNING. I COASTED TO AN INTERSECTION AND STOPPED ALONG THE ROAD. ENGINE TURNED OVER INITIALLY THEN ONLY BUZZING SOUND. SHIFTER LOCKED IN PARK AFTER STOPPING. DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS WERE FUNCTIONAL AS WELL AS THE FAN MOTOR. LIMITED LIGHTS ON THE PANEL, TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM, AND RED PASSENGER SEAT ICONS WERE LIGHTED. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT IN A BAD LOCATION FOR STOPPING. *TR

HIGHWAY SPEED VIBRATION AT VARIOUS INTENSITIES, MOSTLY AT SPEEDS OVER 60. CAR SHAKES AND VIBRATES. HONDA DEALERSHIP EVALUATED SITUATION AND NOTED NO PROBLEMS WITH SUSPENSION, REPLACED FRONT AND SIDE MOTOR MOUNTS WITHOUT SOLVING PROBLEM. FACTORY TECH STATED THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN EVALUATED AS "BAD TIRES". CAR HAD PROBLEM WITH PRIOR TIRES AND CURRENT TIRES HAD LESS THAN 2,000 MILES ON THEM. TIRES WERE REBALANCED, ALIGNED AND ROTATED - NO IMPROVEMENT. SAME PROBLEM WITH SECOND CAR (SAME MAKE/MODEL 2008). INTERNET SEARCHING INDICATES THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH 2008 THROUGH AT LEAST 2012 VEHICLES. DEALER TRIED TO TEST THE TIRE ISSUE BY SWAPPING TIRES FROM ANOTHER USED VEHICLE ON THE LOT. THEY TEST DROVE 3 VEHICLES TO FIND ONE BUT ALL THREE HAD THE SAME VIBRATION ISSUE. I THINK THERE IS A DESIGN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND THE PROBLEM IS BEING IGNORED BY HONDA (MUST BE A HUGE ISSUE AND/OR A...
ENGINE RPMS GO UP WHEN STOPPED OR BARELY MOVING IF STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED. HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND IT NOW HAS 5200 MILES. NO LUCK WITH DEALERSHIP. SAY IT NORMAL FOR THE RPMS TO GO UP IF YOU MOVE STEERING WHEEL. SUPPOSED TO CALL FACTORY AND CALL ME NO PHONE CALL YET. *TR

UNABLE TO GET THE LOCK MECHANISM TO ENGAGE TO START THE CAR. MY MOTHER HAS BEEN LEFT STRANDED FIVE TIMES DUE TO LOCK MECHANISM SEIZING AND HER BEING UNABLE TO START CAR. SHE HAS CALLED THE HONDA SERVICE DEPT. TWICE AND THEY RECOMMENDED PULLING HARD ON STEERING WHEEL (TOWARD CHEST OF DRIVER). THEY OBVIOUSLY KNEW TO RECOMMEND THIS REMEDY. BUT MY MOTHER IS 90 POUNDS AND FRAIL. IT TOOK STRONG MALES (STRANGERS IN A PARKING LOT,MOST RECENTLY WHILE IT WAS SNOWING) TO PULL THE STEERING WHEEL OUT TO AFFECT THE REMEDY SO THE CAR WOULD START. HONDA HAS NOT OFFERED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND TRIES TO BLAME HER FOR "LEANING ON THE STEERING WHEEL" AS SHE EXITS THE VEHICLE. 90 POUNDS??? MY EXTENDED FAMILY HAS OWNED 20+ HONDA'S IN THE PAST - INCLUDING ME OWNING A 2009 EX-L. WE ARE ALL NOW DISAPPOINTED. NOT TO MENTION THAT MY MOTHER...
KNOCKING NOISE AT LOW SPEED 5 TO 10 MPH. APPEARS TO BE IN STEERING RACK. THOUGHT PERHAPS BRAKES BUT WE HAVE ELIMINATED THOSE. POPPING NOISE CAN FELT WHEN MOVING STEERING WHEEL RIGHT TO LEFT AND IDLE WITH OR WITHOUT ENGINE RUNNING AND HOLDING HAND ON TIE ROD ENDS.
