Our car has 66,000 miles on it. My wife was driving it we have never hooked a trailer to it. Never done anything but drive our kids around go run errands in it. The motor seized and left my wife stranded. The car has been fully serviced ahead of schedule every time And very well taken care of it still looks new, but the dealership is now telling me the motor and the transmission possibly are bad and I’m only 6000 miles past the factory warranty. There’s no reason for this motor to have failed or the transmission as the car has never seen any hard service and has only seen normal paved roads and running errands and dropping kids off. The dealership said it’s going to cost around $16,000 to fix both the engine and the transmission out of nowhere the motor just seized with no warning and no...

Driving on a highway at 75 mph when car had multiple error messages popping up in screen (switching too fast to read) when the car made a loud noise & started to decrease speed. Nothing worked. Pulled off to side of road & car would not restart. Currently in the shop awaiting a new engine.
Relatively uneventful ownership history for new 2022 Yukon XL Denali purchased April 2022. Yesterday, started noticing knocking noise from engine. On way to dealership today, the engine died on the interstate without any warning messages and the vehicle ultimately stopped in the middle of the road off of the exit with my 3 young children on board. Dealership indicates that engine died and will need to be replaced. They stated that 3 other vehicles on the lot with the same issue.

We were driving South on [XXX] when lights on the dash started flickering and the vehicle switched itself to Neutral and had a sudden loss of power. We were lucky enough to get out of traffic and spent 5 hours waiting on Roadside Assistance and a tow truck. It was a very dangerous situation. The service department at Sullivan GMC Ocala (352)-414-4962 first said that replacing the Fuel Module would fix it. 5 days later they said it needs a new engine. They plan to replace it with the same 6.2 engine. (same part number that is defective) The electrical safety system should be recalled. With no warning, the vehicle loses power and stops. GMC and every service department manager that I have spoke to knows about this issue. GMC continues to market and sell these engines and vehicles. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed because of...
My engine seized twice within one year span. Both time on a highway without any warning. The engine is on the back order and the dealer has no estimate of the replacement part arrival. I have no vehicle and they have absolutely no remedy right now
On Christmas Eve my family and I were driving out of town on the freeway when my 2022 Yukon's engine started making very loud grinding, rattling noises and instantly started slowing down and losing power, there were no warning signs on the dash and the GMC app showed my vehicle was still in a healthy condition. We had no warning at all. The vehicle was towed to Corwin GMC and we were told we will need a total engine replacement. We have been waiting almost a month now with no update as to when it will be fixed.
iN jUNE 2024, the engine suddenly stopped running; IT was towed into the dealership and they had to replace the engine for rod bearing problems.
Without warning, the motor siezed and locked up on the interstate. It has been in the shop for 3 months and GM is giving me the run around on fixing it but the dealership has told me that this is a huge common issue and is happening to many other vehicles this year with this motor.
The engine seized on the garden state parkway new jersey while driving. The car came to a halt on the parkway. This is very dangerous and I am reading that this is a know issue with these GMC Yukon denali engines. They are replacing mine witha refurbished engine on a car i own. I would like them to buy back my car as i dont feel safe driving this vechile. i had to tow the car from NJ to NY 1600 dollars which Gm will not cover. It was a highway tow and i wanted to get the vechile to safery. It was a sunday and i have 3 car seats in the car.
At 45K miles my 2022 Yukon 6.2L suffered a total engine failure on [XXX] just South of Atlanta, GA in rush hour traffic. My vehicle was completely inoperable and shifted itself into neutral. I barely made it off the road without getting hit. GM had my vehicle over a month and stated it had crankshaft bearing failure. No engines are available on a nation wide back log with no estimate on availability so I'm forced to go another route out of pocket to repair my vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I bought my 2022 Yukon XL on [XXX]. On Friday [XXX], only a few weeks after having my car in the shop (at the dealer) for running rough, it started to make an odd high-pitched noise and running very rough at higher speeds. I immediately called the dealer and asked how quickly I could bring the car in to be checked. They said they had no availability for over 10 days, and offered me an appointment for then. By the next morning, it seemed to be running better and I didn't have to drive much that day so I hoped it would make it until the appointment. That Sunday [XXX], my husband and I drove the car to a sporting event with our children and it seemed to be ok. On our way home, however, just after crossing a long causeway over the bay, the car's motor just stopped working...
Engine failed on highway in a different state, was able to drive home but barely made it. 2 newborns, 2 toddlers, and 2 adults were all in the vehicle at the time the engine started squealing. No warning signs. Dealer dropped oil filter and it was full of metal. Official diagnosis was main crank thrust bearing failure. Rebuilt engine was installed under powertrain warranty (37500 miles). GM did not put us in a comparable rental vehicle, so I had to pay out of pocket expenses outside of their rental allowance for a compact car. Dealer charged for an oil change. Dealer changed the rebuilt engine warranty terms upon pickup from 3yr/100,000miles to 12mo/12,000 miles or the current terms of power train warranty, whichever was longer. GM is well aware of this issue and is keeping it quiet. Rebuilt engines are on back order for months because it’s that common of...
Vehicles engine seized up while accelerating to merge on to highway. There was no warning lights or noises.
2022 Yukon XL, (49465 miles) while driving in stop and go traffic, engine quit, able to roll off roadway, restart engine and get back in "drive", this occurred three times in succession when we took foot off accelerator, with in 50 minutes (45 min) time line. This occurred on 9/29/24 took vehicle to dealership on 10/14/24 (earliest appointment), they completed two recalls, could not fined any thing wrong and no "codes" were showing. Engine seemed to "shutter" not like a electrical was disconnected to engine (my opinion). This a safety issue and should be addressed! What is going to happen when this occurs when pulling out in traffic or passing a vehicle? Fatal crash????
One hour into a trip from Reno to Bay Area at 18k miles on my car the vehicle lost power while driving on the highway. It went into neutral and display said to hit start which yielded a warning that ability to shift was no optimal. Preceding the shut down I lost acceleration power. I was able to exit highway and coast off to the side of an exit road where it came to a stop and shifted to park in the middle of the road. Had it been one mile up the highway I would have hit another incline and the car would have stopped on a major two lane interstate. Ultimately towed back to dealer in Reno where I was informed my engine seized and needed to be replaced.
As we were leaving Cortez, CO. on a two lane highway we were passing a couple of cars with plenty of room to get back into to the driving lane when we lost ALL power from the engine. The cars we had just passed had to slam on their brakes as we were trying to keep from a head on collision. But with no power and the Denali in neutral we couldn’t change anything. We coasted to a County Road approach and it DIED in the middle of it. NO POWER. We had to call a tow truck who took it back into Cortez to Webb Chevrolet. The engine had seized. God was watching over us that day. We have since found out that there has been MANY seized engines with the 2022, 6.2 liter engines. In many new pickups and few of the suburbans. In fact, the Webb Chevrolet...
it’s the lifters that are collapsed and The lifters are pitted because the camshaft is cracked. So in couple months some of my friends who owned GMC Yukon had same problem. I think this problem become a common problem need to investigated by GMC and the cost should paid by GMC no matter it’s in guaranteed or not. Repair cost is around 10000$.
The vehicle shuts off when driving in stop and go conditions but not related to the auto stop function. A message across the dash appears “Please push start button”. This has happened more than once but there are no check engine lights or anything else appearing on the dash. The vehicle just keeps shutting off without any warning or pressing anything.
WE purchased this GMC Yukon brand-new in January 2022. Since July 2022 and at 5700 (five thousand) miles, I have been experiencing a repeated Check Engine Light problem. I have taken the vehicle to my local GMC dealer, who has involved GM Engineers, on seven [7] occasions to have the problem fixed, but they have not been able to resolve the issue. I am now concerned that this defect is built-in the vehicle itself.
Vehicle stopped dead in road while driving on highway. Vehicle unable to shift into park, neautral or drive once engine ceased. 19,000 miles and 1 year of ownership, oil change and service at GM dealer less than 1 month prior to engine failure.
‘22 Yukon XL (SLT). Driving out of state and engine started marking a metal knocking sound. Then traction control, emissions and ESC light came on. Dealer says engine lifters are faulty. Car is only 2 months old.
