TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER, FUEL, AND OIL GAUGES FLUCTUATED AND INCORRECTLY REPORTED THE SPEED, FUEL QUANTITY, AND OIL QUANTITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,872.
THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY ANYMORE. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM IN GMC ENVOYS, BUT GM WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE NOR FIX THE ISSUE. SPEEDOMETER CURRENTLY SHOWS I'M DOING 60 MPH WHILE PARKED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE DRIVERS DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW FAST THEY ARE GOING...... *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND READS 120 MILES AN HOUR NO MATTER HOW FAST I'M TRAVELING. I CURRENTLY USE MY GPS TO WATCH MY SPEED. THIS IS UNSAFE AND THIS IS A ON-GOING COMPLIANT FOR MANY CONSUMERS. GM SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS DANGEROUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE ASSEMBLE OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING AFTER ABOUT TWO HOURS OF DRIVING. IT GOES TO ZERO. IT SOMETIMES STARTS AGAIN IF THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND STARTED AGAIN, BUT IT WILL QUIT WORKING IF A LONG DRIVE CONTINUES. IT WORKS PERFECTLY WHEN DRIVING AROUND TOWN ON SHORT TRIPS. THE SERVICE BULLETIN APPARENTLY SAYS TO "CLEAN GROUND CONNECTION". HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM TOLD I NEED TO HAVE SPEEDOMETER REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $600.00. *TR
I PURCHASED MY ENVOY APPROX. 1 YEAR AGO. I HAVE 105,000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. MY SPEEDOMETER WOULD GET STUCK AT 50 MPH BUT WOULD SEEM TO ALWAYS END UP FIXING ITSELF. NOW IT IS PEGGED AT 120 AND HAS BEEN THAT WAY FOR 2 MONTHS. # 5 ON MY AC/HEAT BLOWER IS NOT WORKING. MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON EVERY TIME I START MY CAR. I CAN NOT TURN THEM OFF , USUALLY AFTER ABOUT 30 WIPES IT WILL TURN OFF. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO ME. AS I AM RESEARCHING THESE PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET, HOPING TO FIND SOME SORT OF RECALL, I FIND MANY OTHER ENVOY OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS!!!! THE SPEEDOMETER IS READING INCORRECTLY. FOR EXAMPLE, IF GOING 25 MPH, IT SHOWS 70MPH. IT DOES NOT SHOW THE SAME SPEED EACH TIME EITHER. NEVER GOES TO 0 MPH. THIS PROBLEM JUST OCCURRED ONE DAY. *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATED THAT I WAS GOING 90+ MPH. I SLOWED DOWN TO THE POINT THAT PEOPLE WERE PASSING ME IN A 65MPH ZONE AND MY SPEEDOMETER WAS INDICATING 60 MPH. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I GLANCED TO CHECK MY SPEEDOMETER AND SAW IT REGISTERED ABOUT 100 MPH. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 40. THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUED TO CLIMB AND WENT BELOW THE HIGHEST REGISTERED NUMBER, WHICH IS 120, AND THAT'S WHERE IT NOW SITS APPARENTLY FOR GOOD. NOW I CANNOT TELL MY SPEED. THE NEEDLE REMAINS BURIED BELOW 120 MPH AND DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT SPEED. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT ACCURATELY RECORD THE SPEED WHILE TRAVELING FOR MY 2005, GMC, ENVOY, SLT MODEL. IT WILL INDICATE THAT I AM TRAVELING 20 MPH OR EVEN 0 WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND SEEMS TO INCREASE MY RPMS WHILE MALFUNCTIONING. THIS HAS CAUSED SEVERAL TICKETS AS I CAN NOT PERSONALLY TRACK HOW FAST/SLOW I AM GOING WHILE DRIVING. THIS MALFUNCTION HAPPENS EVERYDAY. MY OIL GAUGE IS ALSO UNABLE TO READ, IT NEVER MOVES AND READS UNDER THE START OF THE METER (SOUTH) AT ALL TIMES, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT STARTED. *KB

THE INACCURATE READING WAS CONSISTENT. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAULTY FUEL TANK AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD FUELED THE VEHICLE MOMENTS BEFORE. THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED FUNCTIONING. WHILE PARKED, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED A READING OF 135 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER FOR THE FUEL GAUGE TO READ PROPERLY. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. SPEEDOMETER STUCK AT 60MPH WHILE TRAVELING. DIDN'T MATTER IF STOPPED, ACCELERATING, DECELERATING, OR TURNING VEHICLE OFF. TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING IT SEEMED TO CAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER TO DECREASE, SOME, FINALLY GETTING IT TO REGISTER 20MPH. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING THE SPEEDOMETER STILL REGISTERED 20 MPH AND UPON ACCELERATION THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATED FINALLY SETTLING AT 80MPH. WE WERE UNABLE TO TELL HOW FAST WE REALLY ARE TRAVELING BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER IS WACKO. STOPPING AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HELP. THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT RESET TO ZERO IT IS NOW STUCK AT 80MPH. OUR LOCAL GM DEALER ADVISED THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED BUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 75,000 MILES WAS OFFERED ON THE VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. OUR VEHICLE IS OVER THE MILEAGE FOR THE WARRANTY. GM IS AWARE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH WACKO SPEEDOMETERS HENCE THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. ONE WOULD...

THE HIGH BEAMS IMMEDIATELY ACTIVATE WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WHICH DISTRACTS DRIVERS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58000.

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS BUT SINCE THEY HAD REMOVED THE BATTERY AND RE-CONNECTED IT THAT THE SPEEDOMETER SHOULD WORK CORRECTLY. I WORKED CORRECTLY FOR 2 DAYS. *TR

OCCURS AFTER ABOUT A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING AND, AFTER ONLINE AND OFFLINE RESEARCH, IT TURNS OUT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THESE PROBLEM WITH SOME GMC TRUCKS, ESPECIALLY THE GMC ENVOYS MODELS. AND GM IS NOT DOING ANYTHING OR REFUSING TO FIX IT SINCE IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFAULT. THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY RECALLS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE EVEN LAWSUITS IN SOME STATES ABOUT THIS. MY TRUCK IS NOT EVEN OLD ONLY 52,000 MILES AND I DON'T DRIVE A LOT JUST TO WORK AND HOME. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY AND AT ANY TIME CAN SHOW THAT I'M DOING 70 WHEN I AM STOPPED, BE PEGGED, OR SOMETIMES IT WORKS. I HAVE TO USE MY GPS TO DETERMINE MY SPEED. I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I HAD HEARD THAT THERE WAS FOR VEHICLES UP TO 7 YEARS OLD OR UP TO 70,000 MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE AND THAT IT WOULD COST $400 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAUGE CLUSTER. *TR
PROBLEM JUST STARTED WITH NO WARNING. SPEEDOMETER READS 60 MPH WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED WITH ENGINE OFF. WHEN YOU CRANK THE VEHICLE. SPEEDOMETER INDICATOR DROPS DOWN APPROX. 5 MPH (55 MPH) THEN WHEN YOU DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATOR (NEEDLE) GOES PAST THE 120 READING ON THE SPEEDOMETER. I FEEL THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU CANNOT DETERMINE THE TRUE SPEED VEHICLE IS REALLY GOING . VEHICLE ODOMETER AND TRIP ODOMETER ARE NOT AFFECTED (CHECKED BY MILE MARKER ON INTERSTATE). FAILURE IS CONSISTENCE . OCCURS EVERYTIME VEHICLE IS OPERATED. NOTIFIED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID (NO RECALL) . VEHICLE HAS APPROX 52,000 MILES. *TR
