TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FOREST RIVER FLAGSTAFF. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TRAILER'S FENDER DETACHED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE TRAILER WAS TAKEN TO COATES RV CENTER (3208 RIVER GATE AVE, CLOQUET, MN) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FENDER HAD FRACTURED, WHICH WEAKENED THE INTEGRITY. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE MISSING FENDER BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED ON THE TRAILER AND WAS REPAIRED. CHECKING WIRING IN ELECTRICAL BOX AT FRONT OF TRAILER I DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRE FROM THE BRAKE BREAKAWAY SWITCH WAS NOT CONNECTED. THE TOW BRAKE WIRE, THE TRAILER BRAKES WIRE AND THE SWITCH ARE ALL SUPPOSED TO BE CRIMPED INTO A SINGLE CONNECTOR. THE SWITCH WIRE WAS TWISTED AROUND THE OTHER TWO - BUT NOT INTO THE CRIMP. THUS THE SWITCH WOULD NOT HAVE FUNCTION AND WAS NOT LIKELY TESTED. A FAMILY MEMBER OWNS A SIMILAR TRAILER, MADE AT THE SAME FACTORY THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, EXCEPT IT WAS THE MAIN BRAKE WIRE THAT WASN'T IN THE CRIMP.
