TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED HAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A LEVEL ROAD SURFACE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY ROLLED FOR A FEW SECONDS. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 94V169001 (PARKING BRAKE: CONVENTIONAL); HOWEVER THE RECALL EXPIRED AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAULTY EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE HIMSELF. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 270,000.
DT: 1994 FORD RANGER- THE TRUCK HAS BEEN HAVING PARKING BRAKE PROBLEMS. WHEN PARKING AND PUTTING THE PARKING BRAKE ON THE TRUCK WILL ROLL BACK, THE BRAKE DOES NOT CATCH. THE TRUCK WILL DO THIS EVERY TIME, NO MATTER IF IT IS ON AN INCLINE OR ON FLAT SURFACE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CONSUMER BOUGHT THE TRUCK, TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES , AND THEY HAD NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. THE CONSUMER OWNED THE TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NEW. NEVER HAD ANY ACCIDENTS . CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON VEHICLE. *AK THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS A GAS LEAK. UPDATED 08/14/06. *JB
DT: THE PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. CAN NOT GET IT TO ADJUST. THERE IS A RECALL, BUT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. . HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO AN ACTUAL FORD DEALER. A FAMILY MEMBER RUNS A SHOP, AND THEY CAN NOT ADJUST IT EITHER. WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ITSELF IT WILL NOT HOLD. NOTICED THIS AROUND SEPT 28,2005.*AK
