Backup camera is showing not available on a 2017 ford mustang with no remedies for 8 years.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary, the gear shifter was shifted into reverse, and the rearview camera displayed a black screen with a message. There were no warning lights illuminated and a message was displayed that the rear camera was not available. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for an unknown recall for the wiring harness. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure with the rearview camera persisted. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with rearview camera failure. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with rearview camera failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered the contact to get the vehicle diagnosed at the manufacturer’s cost. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired....

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
There was a recall regarding the backup camera and/or its harness, I took this in to have it replaced and the dealership did not correct the problem, then when I went to have it serviced again, the dealership was closed down, I need my camera repaired/replaced.

Thr rear view camera does not function properly. Around fifty percent of the time backing up the screen will show "Rear view camera not available." I have owned the vehicle since July 2022. There's a recall currently on this issue, but Ford is saying my vehicle is not included.
I have a 2017 Ford mustang eco-boost which has a faulty rear view camera. The camera glitches with distorted image with moving horizontal lines. For this exact same issue ford issued a manufacturer Recall Number22S06/22V082, but with a catch. In the recall report they mentioned that camera replacement will apply only for 2015 models. But this issue exists in 2017 models as well and ford need to consider to recall those as well.

The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience a failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the rear-view camera to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V082000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
This 2017 Ford Mustang was taken into Gillespie Ford for the RECALL on the rear back up camera. This was done on May 31, 2023. The dealer said they fixed the camera. I have only taken this vehicle out twice since they “fixed” it. Yesterday was extremely hot. When I used the backup camera in my garage after I got home, the camera image was distorted just as it was before the RECALL REPAIR. This problem with the camera has not been fixed properly and the dealer wants to charge me for any further repairs, even though it has not been fixed properly or FORD still has a severe issue with these cameras when they get hot. I would like someone to step up and make the dealer fix this as it was a RECALL. I believe I should NOT have to pay for another repair. They have not done...

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the dealer previously serviced the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V082000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the failure recurred with the rearview camera displaying a distorted image. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the AIPM module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to J.C. I had a recall repaired on my 2017 Ford Mustang at a Ford dealership, the recall repair had to do with the backup/rearview camera not working properly. After they repaired the wiring in the trunk compartment, the back up camera is still not working properly and becomes blank or distorted when putting the vehicle in reverse. I called the dealership to have it looked at and fixed because the nhtsa website states that "Dealers will inspect and repair the decklid wiring harness AND/OR REPLACE THE REARVIEW CAMERA, as necessary, FREE OF CHARGE.". The dealership inspected my 2017 Mustang, again, and sent me a text message with a website link attached stating the cost for the repair and that I would need to pay for the repair totaling $316.59.
2017 FORD MUSTANG. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DEFECTIVE BACK CAMERA. THE CONSUMER STATED THE REARVIEW CAMERA HAS NOT WORKED IN 2 YEARS AND WAS REPAIRED ON OCT 2022. IT WORKED FOR 1 DAY AND HASNT WORKED PROPERLY SINCE THAT DAY.
RECALL 22V082 for 2017 Ford Mustang. Unreliable backup camera (safety issue) and trunk wiring harness. Vehicle was at Camelback Ford, Phoenix, Arizona, on June 28, 2022, for the recall. Dealer ordered backup camera and trunk wiring harness. Neither the Dealer or Ford Corporate can tell me when the parts will be available or where the parts are coming from. Now the trunk will not open (part of the wiring harness recall). Getting the runaround from Ford!
Backup camera inoperable, screen goes blank or shows rainbow lines
