2014 FORD FLEX Unknown Or Other Problems

BACKUP CAMERA FAILED Safety was put at risk because there was no functional camera while the vehicle was in reverse. Dealer confirmed backup camera failure. Dealer inspected the backup camera and determined it needed to be replaced. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Mileage 163,483 Replaced 12/31/2024

The rear backup camera is upside down. The rear backup distance alarm doesn't work. This has been recalled in other years. The price to repair in unreasonable. Its like not having a rear camera. This is a common Problem. Please help.

The back-up camera is malfunctioning. Either appear blank or will work for about 5 seconds then go blank. Took to mechanic and was confirmed as malfunctioning per codes, but wasn't able to completely diagnose.

I own a 2014 Ford Flex, and I have been experiencing recurring issues with the rear backup camera. The problems included the camera intermittently going in and out of service, displaying fuzzy or unclear images, and at times showing the video feed upside down. These issues closely resemble known problems covered under existing Ford recalls related to backup camera malfunctions caused by software update errors. Due to ongoing safety concerns, I took my vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership on August 21, 2025, for diagnosis and repair. The dealership confirmed the failure of the backup camera system. To resolve the issue, they diagnosed, replaced the rear backup camera, and reprogrammed the system. The total cost of the service was $638.78. Given the similarity of this failure to the symptoms covered under previous Ford recalls, I believe this issue may be related and warrants further review.

Within the last 90-120 days the back up camera on our 1014 Ford Flex has started not working properly. It sometimes works, sometimes only a video with now parking lines, sometimes nothing at all and a blank screen. Sometimes it does all of the above in the same instance.

The camera shows upside down and rear parking aid doesn't work. Recall 25v442000 is for the same thing. But ford dealer said it doesn't apply.

Faulty back up camera. Shows inverted and distorted image, or fails to operate at all. Has been an issue for about 3 years.

Front Control Interface Module failure resulting in unresponsive climate controls and audio. The issue starts with the audio stopping, followed by the HVAC turning off and then followed by defrosters turning on full blast. No warning prior to these turning off. HUGE safety issue with the heater turning on FULL BLAST, baking anyone inside the vehicle. I have had the issue for several years without any true solutions.

The inside ceiling appears wet after it rains. It has a main sunroof and 3 other ones. It appears to leak due to several wet places on ceiling. .

The backup camera experiences intermittent error messages, doesn’t turn on, and 90% of the time the image is reversed like in a mirror

I have a 2014 ford flex limited ecoboost and I’m having some issues with the back up camera intermittently working and goes black and says to bring it to the dealer. After doing a tiny bit of research on this issue I’m seeing that there are a couple different years that have already recalled this camera from this model. I also have looked into a replacement and noticed that it’s the same exact camera on these models that have an open recall. I’m also a member of a Facebook ford flex group and this issue is much more widespread than they want us to believe. Most people have had to replace them or pay a ton for the dealer to replace. It’s a very big safety issue since this vehicle has pretty terrible visibility out the rear of the car. I’m also having an issue with the front collision sensor...

Backup camera is flipped upside down all the time or doesn't work at times.

POWER STEERING QUIT, COULDN'T TURN WHEEL. ALERT POPPED UP THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" THEN ANOTHER ALERT POPPED UP "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" SAME ISSUE AS THE EARLIER YEARS OF THE FLEX THAT HAD A RECALL ON THEM SO THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED AS THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED IN THE NEWER YEARS.

The car completely died in the middle of the road without warning. I had my children In the vehicle. Signs of fuel pump issues, contacted Ford about it and researched Ford flexs have a recall on fuel pumps. My specific vehicle VIN states there are none but all signs and symptoms lead to that. Ford refuses to help with the recall situation just wants me to pay for diagnosis.

Drivers door spontaneously thinks it’s open and when driving all cab lights come on and at night it’s blinding. This has been going on for over 6 months and getting worse.

Known defect in the door sensor causes 'door ajar' alert that wont clear. Latch works fine to secure closure but due to the alert the doors won't lock while the car is in DRIVE. Ford has issued a CSB for driver's door latch but not for passenger doors. (What about the kids?)

Driver side door locks are malfunctioning. the system says the door is open when it is securely closed. The system won’t turn off interior lights which drains the battery. It also won’t allow locks to lock thinking the door is ajar. There are recalls for this issue on other Ford SUV’s but not for the Flex.

VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL. THE FUEL PUMP WAS ALREADY REPLACED BUT THE CAR STILL PUTTS AND ALMOST STALLS WHEN DRIVING OR WHILE AT A STOP.

WE HAVE OWNED OUR VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS. SPORADICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF THOSE 5 YEARS THE CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM INDICATOR HAS COME ON WHEN WE TURN ON THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. WE HAVE HAD IT CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AND BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND ALTERNATOR HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND ARE FINE. I'M INVESTIGATING ONLINE IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I FEEL LIKE THERE IS A DEFECT SOMEWHERE AND IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. IT IS SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IT GOES OUT.

BEGINNING IN EARLY MAY, MY VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ALL POWER AND GO INTO "LIMP" MODE WHILE DRIVING. THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AND I PULLED OVER INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT. THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATE IT WAS A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM AND NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP. WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON AND IT RAN NORMALLY. A FEW DAYS LATER, SAME PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME I WOULD DRIVE IT. DRIVING, LOSE POWER, WRENCH LIGHT APPEARS, PULL OVER, TURN OFF CAR, RESTART, ALL NORMAL. IT WAS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND AT TIMES SCARY WHEN THIS WOULD OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY COULD NOT PULL CODES BECAUSE THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS NOT ACTIVELY ON AT THE TIME I WOULD GET THERE. FINALLY, ONE MORNING, LIGHT COMES ON, POWER IS LOST AND I ALTER MY PLANS...

SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY FORD FLEX WE NOTICED A HORRIBLE EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT IT TO BE LOOKED AT AND THEY DID SEVERAL THINGS AND TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIX IT AND DIDN'T KNOW HOW AND THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF FLEXES THAT HAD THE SAME COMPLAINT BUT COULDN'T FIX EITHER. I CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURER MYSELF AND THEY HAVE DIRECTED MANY THINGS TO BE DONE TO MY VEHICLE BY DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, STILL NO RESULTS!!! MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP LONGER THAN I HAVE HAD IT IN MY POSSESSION. THERE ARE MANY OTHER THINGS WRONG WITH IT INCLUDING THE RADIO THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIX LIKE THE SCREEN PARTIALLY DISAPPEARING ETC.. ONE TIME WE WERE SITTING WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN BECAUSE IT WAS A NICE DAY WHILE...
