CRANK NO START, AFTER REPLACED NEW FUEL PUMP, FILTER AND OTHER PARTS WOULD NOT START AND NOT GETTING FUEL. WAS IN MOTION AND DIED AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE FUEL CAP AND THE TIRE SENSOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CAPITAL FORD OF CHARLOTTE LOCATED AT 5411 N TRYON ST, CHARLOTTE, NC 28213) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRE SENSOR, THE FUEL CAP AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL CAP WARNING LIGHT, FAILURE OCCURRED EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,368.
FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE FAILED DUE TO DESIGN FLAW WHICH CAUSED GALVANIC CORROSION. ALUMINUM BODY OF COMPONENT ACTS AS THE SACRIFICIAL ANODE FOR THE FRAME WHICH IS STEEL. THIS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO STALL AT 65MPH AND LOSE POWER AND THUS CAUSED THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER WHILE TRAVELING A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THIS COULD BE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAYS, CONGESTED AREAS, OR AREAS WITH PEDESTRIANS SUCH AS SCHOOLS. I HAVE ALSO NOTIFIED FORD OF THIS PROBLEM.

MY SUV WAS PARKED IN PARKING LOT OF A STORE. SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT FROM MY VEHICLE. THEN IT STARTED TO CATCH ON FIRE. FIRE FIGHTERS SAID THE FIRE STARTED FROM THE FUEL INJECTORS.
FOR MANY TIME THAT MY EXPEDITION HAS STALLED BECAUSE OF THE THROTTLE BODY FAILING. THE ENGINE GOES INTO SAFE MODE AND STALLS AND STOPS, THI IS VERY DANGER SITUATION
TRANSMISSION BAD ,PAINT COME OUT SOME AREAS, REPLACE ALL THE SPARK PLUGS
WHILE DRIVING ALONG AT 55 MPH ENGINE SHUT DOWN. NO POWER BRAKES, STEERING, ETC. INDICATOR MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD SAID "CHECK ELECTRONIC IGNITION". REPAIR COST $ 724.19. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A HEAVY VIBRATION FROM THE MOTOR AND THE SMELL OF RAW FUEL WAS PRESENT. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT A FUEL INJECTOR BECAME STUCK OPEN. THE INJECTOR FILLED THE CYLINDER WITH FUEL AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BLOW UP (SEVERE DAMAGE). IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS OCCURRED ON FORD EXPEDITIONS NUMEROUS TIMES AND FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 11 YEARS, 120,000 MILES AND MY SCARY EXPERIENCE OCCURRED AT 129,000. I PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE MOTOR AT MY OWN EXPENSE 2 YEARS PRIOR AND FORD DID NOT REPLACE THE INJECTORS OR NOTIFY ME OF AN INJECTOR ISSUE. FORD IS STATING THAT THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AND THE ENGINE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE INJECTOR THAT WAS NOT REPLACED. IT WAS FOUND THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE...
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL HELP, I HAVE A 2005 EXPEDITION,. THE THING HAS JUST STARTED SHUTTING DOWN ON ME WHILE DRIVING. FOR NO APPARENT REASON, WHILE DRIVING ALONG, IT STOPS RUNNING, AND AFTER SHUTTING IT OFF, PLACING IT IN PARK, IT WILL START BACK UP. THE REPORTED MODEL WAS CRUISING AT 65 MILES AN HOUR ALONG NORTH BOUND I-795 @ NC RTE 42, WILSON, NC (STATE POLICE RESPONDED TO THIS DISABLED VEHICLE CALL) VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT RAN OUT OF GAS. ELECTRICAL PROVEOUT INDICATORS WERE NORMAL. IGNITION SYSTEM WAS FUNCTIONAL, AS WERE ALL OTHER FACETS OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMED FINE DURING THE ENGINE POWER FAILURE, HOWEVER , LOSS OF STEERING POWER AND BRAKING POWER WAS EVIDENT AND PROMINENT. AFTER SAFELY COASTING OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER JUST PAST THE SAID INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY. A FINAL DIAGNOSIS WAS PERFORMED AND WAS DETERMINED OF A RELAY CONTACT FAILURE. THIS RELAY IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE MAIN POWER DISTRIBUTION PANEL / FUSE BLOCK RIGHT OF THE PASSENGER FOOT WELL. MAKING THIS PART INTEGRAL TO THE POWER BLOCK MAKES IT EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR AND MAKES THE VEHICLE...
WHILE SETTING AT A STOP LIGHT A WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON ABOUT CHECKING ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL. WHEN I RELEASE THE BRAKE TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I COASTED INTO THE INTERSECTION ONLY TO FIND THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE HAD NO RESPONSE. FORTUNATELY THE ENGINE IDLE WAS ENOUGH TO GET ME THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BEFORE THE LIGHT TURNED RED. I THEN COASTED TO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITH NO CHANGE IN ACCELERATOR PEDDLE RESPONSE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH AND SEEING NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE I SEE I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE NOT BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN THIS ISSUE HAPPEN. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED WHEN THEIR VEHICLE JUST QUITS WORKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE DRIVER FUEL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.
DRIVING ON I-75 AT 78 MPH MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. I HAD NO POWER AND NEARLY WAS INVOLVED IN A 18 WHEELER HITTING ME. THE "CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON BUT AFTER THE ENGINE QUIT. ONCE I CALMED DOWN THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. I JUST HAD MY SECOND ISSUE WITH THE SAME WARNING LIGHT AND ENGINE POWER SHUTTING OFF. I HAD TO COAST THROUGH A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. THEN THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. WHILE I WAS DRIVING DONE THE INTERSTATE, MY FORD EXPEDITION LOST ALL POWER AND COMPLETELY STALLED. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DIED. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER 1 HOUR VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STARTED AND THEN DIED WITHIN SECONDS. THE FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP WERE REPLACED BECAUSE ALL INDICATIONS LEAD TO BELIEVE THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS BAD. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET FOR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS FROM OTHERS, I FOUND ONE PERSON WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOLLOWED THEIR ADVISE ON HOW TO FIX IT. I FOUND THE "DRIVERS MODULE" ON THE BACK TOPSIDE OF THE FRAME. WHEN THE MODULE WAS REMOVED, IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE TWO LARGE SECTIONS OF CORROSION ABOUT 1/4 INCH THICK. WHEN THE CHUNKS WERE KNOCKED OFF, UNDER THEM WERE TWO HOLES THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE MODULE AND THE CIRCUIT WAS BURNT, THE PLUG WAS ALSO STARTING TO CORRODE. THE PLACEMENT FOR THE MODULE IS A...
I HAVE A 2005 EXPEDITION AND HAVE HAD A ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL FAILURE ON IT TWICE IN THE LAST 10 MONTHS. BOTH CASES HAPPENED WHILE TURNING THROUGH A MAJOR INTERSECTION, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, BUT THERE WAS NO CONNECTION BETWEEN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE THROTTLE (STEPPING ON THE GAS HAD NO EFFECT). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,005 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
