The receiver hitch for trailering is experiencing abnormal metal fatigue and deformation. The motorhome was factory equipped with a receiver hitch that shows a rating of 12,000 lbs and a 1200 lb tongue weight. I have towed both an enclosed trailer with a max weight of less than 4000lbs and a Jeep Gladiator in the flat tow configuration. The Jeep weighs less than 5000 lbs. With both of these towed vehicles being less than 50% of the receivers' rated capacity, I believe there is a manufacturing defect with the supplied receiver hitch. I am certain that had this issue not been detected, continued use would very likely cause a breakaway of the towed vehicle, posing an extreme safety risk as a trailer or Jeep Gladiator breaking away from the motorhome could very likely cause an accident. The receiver hitch is available for inspection. I have reached out to the receiver's manufacturer, Curt Manufacturing and they offered absolutely zero assistance. I have also attempted to contact Entegra/Jayco, but have not received a response.
