ENGINE BEGAN SHARP RAPPING WHILE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING ON THE HIGHWAY. MECHANICS SAY THE ENGINE IS KNOWN FOR SLUDGE PROBLEMS AND NEEDS REPLACED OR REPAIRED BY COMPLETE OVERHAUL. EXPENSE OF EITHER IS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF $3600 AND UP FOR REPAIRS. SEVERAL SALVAGE YARDS STATED THEY ARE GLAD TO GET IN THESE CARS AS SALVAGE BECAUSE THERE IS SUCH A HIGH INCIDENT FOR THIS MOTOR TO FAIL. THESE ENGINES ARE KNOWN FOR THESE FAILURES, YET CHRYSLER HAS DONE NOTHING TO MAKE THIS PROBLEM RIGHT WITH THE CONSUMERS. THIS AUTO IS NOW USELESS FOR ME WITHOUT AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR.
