2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN Structurebody Problems

First, the back hatch would just open itself even if you were going 30 miles an hour or under. Had it checked out couldn’t afford the diagnostics so I took out the fuse. Second, there is a ticking in my right back corner. It doesn’t happen when you’re going down the road, but it happens while you’re parked or just starting out. Mechanic friend of mine checked into it we would have to trace the electrical from front to back and again, I cannot afford that. So there’s 135,000 miles on my vehicle now and this happened about six months ago. I forgot there was a place to report it. I’m not very car savvy. Also, I had to replace my entire starting my starter, my alternator, a battery actually too and now I’m going to have to replace the switch for the ignition that’s all happened within one year...

Passenger sliding door cannot be opened any more. Not electronically and not manually. Not from inside - nor from outside and hence is a huge safety risk e.g. in case of fire or accident.

This vehicle was reported as parked and unoccupied when a fire started in the engine compartment

The passenger side sliding door will not open, it is stuck in the lock position and will not unlock with the inside or outside handle, and will not open with the power door buttons. Rear passengers cannot use the door to enter or exit. There are no warning lights or unusual symptoms besides the stuck door.

WHENEVER THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR UNLOCKS, THE ACTUATOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZING SOUNDS THAT IS HEARD BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (40 MPH OR MORE) THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR TRIM FLIES OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO 9 OUT OF THE 11 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN'S THAT WE OWN AND HAS HIT OTHER VEHICLES CAUSING THEM TO SWERVE. IF THIS HAPPENED ONCE OR EVEN TWICE I WOULDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT - BUT 3 OF THE DODGE GRAND CARAVANS WE ACTUALLY REPLACED THIS PIECE MORE THAN ONCE AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. I WOULD SAY THAT WE HAVE HAD AT LEAST 13 OF THESE FLY OFF IN THE PAST 2 YEARS FROM OUR 2014 - 2018 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN MODELS. THIS IS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS TO OTHER DRIVERS AND ESPECIALLY MOTORCYCLISTS AS IT IS A PROJECTILE!

WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS WARM THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR MALFUNCTIONS. I DON'T HAVE THE EXACT DATE WRITTEN DOWN BUT LEAST NOW TWO SUMMERS IN A ROW WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE USE THE DOOR IN THE HEAT. WE GOING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD THIS WILL MAKE THE DOOR AJAR LIGHTS COME ON AND THE DOOR WILL ACT LIKE IT IS OPENED SOME. THE REAR OF THE DOOR BEGINS TO MAKE A CONTINUOUS POUNDING NOISE. ALSO JUST CLOSING THE DOOR IN THE HEAT THE EXACT SAME THING WILL HAPPEN DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU USE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR OR NOT. THE REAR OF THE DOOR CONTINUES MAKING A NOISE, A POUNDING NOISE THAT IS VERY LOUD. WITH TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT THIS CONCERNS ME VERY MUCH. I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING AND THE DOOR OPEN. I DON'T KNOW IF...

DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR COMPLETELY SHUT. WON'T OPEN REMOTELY NOR MANUALLY. I'VE READ TOO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS MATTER . MANUFACTURE SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DO A RECALL FOR FREE REPAIR.

REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR LOCK STUCK IN ENGAGED POSITION. DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. LOCK WILL NOT DISENGAGE. VEHICLE OFF/STATIONARY, UPON RETURN FROM DRIVE. CHILD IN CAR SEAT RESTRAINT INACCESSIBLE.

PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK CLOSED. WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL.

DROVE VAN FROM 9AM TILL 11AM ALL DOORS FUNCTIONED WELL. PARKED AT HOME. LOCKED CAR. AT 1PM WENT TO STORE IN VAN SHOPPED AND FOUND THAT DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE AFTER UNLOCKED.

MY 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN LEFT SIDE SLIDING DOOR HAS SUDDENLY BECOME STUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I CAME OUT ONE MORNING AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I CANT UNLOCK IT MANUALLY OR WITH THE FOB. WHEN I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM I SEE THERE IS A SLEW OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH MANY DIFFERENT YEARS OF GRAND CARAVAN'S. DODGE HAS NOT DONE A RECALL BECAUSE, I UNDERSTAND FROM OTHERS, THAT DODGE IS CHARGING $1100 PER VEHICLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. CAN YOU PRESS THEM TO DO A RECALL? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IN AN EMERGENCY TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, PASSENGERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THROUGH THE LEFT SIDE DOOR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAILGATE SPOILER DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE SPOILER STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,800.
