The recalls associated to my vehicle are the same exact problems I am experiencing. My car is stalling and stalled on the highway. I couldn’t accelerate and had to drive with my hazards.
I saw there was a recall for the same car as mine but one year earlier. My car is leaking gas which was the effects of this recall. Could it possibly be affecting the 2008 also?
Gas tank straps wore a hole in my gas tank because they move around
I bought the car pre-owned. I knew almost immediately that there was a electrical problem because the inside lights would come on when I would break. I've had non stop problems with the car and until now I didn't know it was a recall problem. My gear shift linkage has went out stuck in gear. My water pump has gone out . It's overheated on numberous occasions smells like a electrical fire happening. The car won't start it stalls out all the time at least two times a day. The website says that my car has already received the recalls but the exact problems they have listed are the exact problems I'm having and it's a safety hazard for real. They told me I was going to have to pay to get it fixed since my car already received the recalls. I don't think this is fair I think that...
Hi my name is [XXX] and I’m 28 years old and a full time single mom of 2 girls 24/7 and in February I bought a 2008 Dodge Avenger 2.7 and the day I drove it home the check engine light came on and well long story short there it took them a month to “fix” the issue and 3 days later after getting my car back after NOT having it for a month the check engine light came on again…needless to say here it is almost September 7 months later and there has many endless problems and the car dealership will not return my phone calls or texts or emails about my car and wanting to trade it in for another one on there lot !!! WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE THE GAS PUMP WILL SHUT OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, BUT THE CAR'S FUEL TANK WILL BLOW GAS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ARE FILLING THE CAR SLOW OR FAST. IT DOES THIS AT ALL GAS STATIONS SO IT IS NOT THE GAS STATION'S FUEL PUMPS.
EVERY TIME CAR IS STARTED AND DRIVEN IT STALLS AND/OR WILL COMPLETELY CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE FUEL TANK ALSO HAS THE GAS LIGHT ON AND SAYS THE CAR HAS AN EMPTY TANK WHEN IN FACT THE CAR HAS A FULL TANK. (ON GOING ISSUE)
WHEN AT THE FUEL PUMP GETTING GAS IT OVERFILLS EVERY TIME. SAFETY HAZARD HAS A ROUGH IDLE WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT WITHOUT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME UP FOR IT. SPEEDOMETER IS OFF DOOR HANDLE STICKS NOT ALLOWING ME TO CLOSE MY DOOR WHILE I'M IN IT HAVE TO PUSH THE HANDLE TOWARDS THE DOOR TO GET IT TO CLOSE. TRUNK DOESN'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD AFTER FILLING GAS TANK CAR STARTING SPITTING, GAS HAND FLOATING UP AND DOWN, LIGHT FLASHING,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS SENSOR ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES FAILED SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES TOOK LONGER THAN USUAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. FURTHERMORE, THERE WAS A MAJOR FUEL TANK LEAK AND THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS NOTICED OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. LASTLY, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND PLANNED TO BE REPAIRED ONCE THE CONTACT ORDERED THE CORRECT FUEL TANK STRAPS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
'TAMARA RECALL' MY CAR HAS ALWAYS JUST SHUT OFF AT TIMES WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG STOPPED WORKING. IT'S NOW GOT A FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS WITH A BURNT SENSOR
FUEL OVERFLOWS WHILE FILLING TANK REGARDLESS OF REFUELING RATE, AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, OR SERVICE STATION. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY REFUEL CAUSING AN ENVIRONMENTAL MESS AND WASTING MONEY.
TODAY IS JULY 17, 2018. I DISCOVERED THERE WERE 6 RECALLS ON THE 2008 DODGE AVENGER I PURCHASED A MONTH AND A HALF AGO, BUT THE DEALER NEVER BOTHERED TO DISCLOSE ANY OF THIS INFORMATION TO ME. WHEN I ASKED WHY THE SENSOR LIGHT WAS ON I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOTHING IMPORTANT, JUST THE AIR PRESSURE ON THE TIRES DUE TO LEAKAGE, AND ALL IT NEEDED WAS A CAP ON THE VALVE STEM. THE CAPS ON THE VALVE STEMS OF TWO WHEELS WERE REPLACED BUT THE LIGHT STAYED ON. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 66 MPH WHEN THE CAR STARTED JERKING AS IF THE FUEL WAS GASPING; IT SCARED ME TO DEATH! TWO WEEKS AFTER THE PURCHASE, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, AND WOULDN'T GO OFF; THE CAR MUST BE TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC WHICH I'M TOLD...
THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS THE HORN RANDOMLY HONKING WHICH PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE TO THE POINT IT WAS BLARING AND WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. WE HAD THE HORN HARD WIRED BYPASSING THE T.I.P.M. RANDOMLY THE THROTTLE IS UNRESPONSIVE AND THEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN AND SOMETIMES WILL NOT RESTART FOR A WHILE. WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.
RUNNING RICH AND CODE P2004 HAS TO DO WITH INTAKE BEING STUCK OPEN.
WHEN FILLING THE TANK ALL THE WAY TO FULL FROM EMPTY GAS PUMP WILL SHUT OFF AND YOU WILL HEAR THE "CLICK" NOZZLE IS STILL IN FUEL HOLE AND FUEL SPRAYS EVERYWHERE. RUNS DOWN VEHICLE ONTO BRAKE SYSTEM. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. VEHICLE WAS OFF AND PARKED.
OUR 2008 DODGE AVENGER SPEWS FUEL OUT OF THE FUEL PORT WHILE FUELING AT ANY GAS STATION EVERY TIME WE PUT FUEL IN THE CAR. OUR DODGE 2008 DODGE NITRO HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND WAS REPAIRED, WHY ISN'T THERE ONE FOR THE AVENGER?
THE WIDOWS WON'T WORK IT TAKES FOREVER TO PUT GAS IN THE TANK THIS CAR HAS A LOT OF PROBLEMS
GAS SPILLS OUT WHEN PUMPING GAS EVEN AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. DODGE SAID THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THE SADDLE TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
FUEL ERUPTS FROM THE FILLER TUBE EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED. WHEN THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF WHETHER IT IS AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY SHUT OFF THE FUEL STILL SPLASHES BACK THROUGH THE FILL TUBE CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD.
THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON BUT TIRES WERE FINE. AT THAT TIME THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AT TAKE OFF AND FOR A FEW MILES AFTER. AS FOR THE AIRBAG, WHEN I ADJUST THE DRIVERS SEAT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON DURING THE DRIVE. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THIS SITE AND FOUND THAT BOTH OF THEM WERE ON BUT WHEN I CALLED THE WARRANTY THEY SAID THAT MY VIN WAS NOT LISTED BUT THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WAS. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY CHARGED ME $100.00 FOR DIAGNOSTICS! THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT BUT IT STILL STALLS AND THE LIGHT STILL COMES ON.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT; ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO GO AND THE VEHICLE JERKED LIGHTLY; THE WARNING LIGHT FOR WHICH I NOW KNOW IS THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR, BLINKED ON AND OFF; I ATTEMPTED TO GIVE IT GAS BUT IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 10 MPH; THE RPMS WENT UP BUT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT MOVE; I HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AFTER OWNING IT FOR 5 YEARS WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE; THE BRAKE DOWN OCCURRED AT 101,700 MILES; THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AT DODGE DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF $530
THROTTLE POSITION WARNING INDICATOR (RED LIGHTNING BOLT) LIT WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED, SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, COULD NOT DRIVE VEHICLE OVER 35 MPH. PROBLEM HAPPENED TWICE DURING A TWO WEEK TIME FRAME, DURING COLD/ SNOWY CONDITIONS. *TR
I'VE OWNED THE CAR SINCE IT WAS NEW. A COUPLE OF TIMES THIS PAST SUMMER WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL OVERFLOWED BEFORE THE GAS NOZZLE AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A FAULTY GAS NOZZLE. RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN OVERFLOWING EVERY TIME I FILL UP, REGARDLESS OF WHICH GAS STATION OR PUMP. THE PAST 5-6 TIMES IT HAS OVERFLOWED. IT IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT COMES BACK, AND IT DOESN'T JUST TRICKLE OUT. IF YOU ARE NOT STANDING OFF TO THE SIDE IT WILL SPRAY YOU. THEN IT RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. I AM CAREFUL TO STOP THE PUMP BEFORE IT GETS FULL, BUT EVEN THEN IT SOMETIMES OVERFLOWS. I WOULD ESTIMATE THE AVERAGE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPILLAGE TO BE AROUND 12 OUNCES. *TR

THE CONTACT NOTICED UPON REMOVING THE WIRING HARNESS THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FIRE, WHICH BURNED THE COMPONENTS PERTAINING TO THE FUEL PUMP THAT BURNED INTO THE FUEL TANK AND THE HOUSING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
MY 2008 DODGE AVENGER HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY LOSING RPMS WHILE DRIVING FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS. THE BODY SHOP INITALLY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED MY THROTTLE BODY CLEANED AND A NEW BATTERY. I PAID FOR THESE REPAIRS AND THE NEXT DAY MY CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING. I AM SO AFRAID THAT I WILL BE IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE CAR LOSES POWER AND I HAVE TO EITHER CONTINUOUSLY PUMP THE GAS PEDAL OR PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THEN RESTART THE CAR WHILE IT IS STILL MOVING. THE ETC(ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL) LIGHT CAME ON AND ESSENTIALLY PUT THE CAR INTO LIMP MODE AND ALMOST CAUSED MY WIFE TO END UP IN AN ACCIDENT DRIVING AT ROUGHLY 75MPH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY REPLACED A VALVE AND SAID THE CODES WERE READING THAT IT HAD RESTRICTED AIR FLOW. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN RESULTING A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE. THROUGH RESEARCH, I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT ITS THE THROTTLE BODY AND DODGE'S INABILITY TO PUT QUALITY INTO THEIR PARTS. EXAMPLE BEING THE PLASTIC GEARS WITHIN THE ETC UNIT OF THE THROTTLE BODY. I UNDERSTAND THAT PROBLEMS OCCUR AND PARTS BREAK BUT WITH THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE SEEN ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE, DODGE NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING THIS KIND OF LOW QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP WITHIN THEIR VEHICLES. *TR

DEALER CLAIMS THAT PER CHRYSLER THE FUEL FILLER NECK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. AFTER VERY THOROUGH INVESTIGATIONS ON MY OWN, IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALERS ARE REPLACING FUEL FILLER NECKS AND COMPLETE FUEL TANKS WHERE THE WHOLE ISSUE IS CAUSED BY A FUEL SAFETY ROLLOVER VALVE LOCATED WITHIN...
EVERY TIME IT RAINS AND I DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT STOP LIGHT OR A ANY COMPLETE STOP. ENGINE STARTS STALLING. THEN CUTS OFF. THIS ISSUE HAS GONE FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS ONLY WHEN IT RAINS. CHECK ENGINE COMES ON WITH CODE P2004( MANIFOLD RUNNER BANK 1 STUCK OPEN.) I HAVE REPLACED THE WHOLE MANIFOLD WITH NEW PARTS I BOUGHT FROM DODGE DEALER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T GO AWAY AFTER TRYING TO DELETE CODE. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO GO TO DODGE DEALER TO GET IT REPROGRAM WHICH WILL COST ME. WHEN FILLING UP GAS TANK, PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF PROPERLY. HAPPENS AT EVERY PUMP. HAD GAS TANK REPLACED ONCE BECAUSE FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE HAD MELTED SHUT. WORKED FOR ABOUT 1,000 MILES WITH NEW TANK, ONCE AGAIN SHOOTS OUT GAS AND DOES NOT SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE AVENGERS 2008, HOWEVER DODGE DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT. EPA WILL GO CRAZY IF THEY FIND OUT, ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT IT IS OUTRIGHT DANGEROUS TO HAVE FUEL COMING BACK OUT OF THE TANK ONTO THE GROUND. GREATER THAN HALF A GALLON COMES OUT EACH TIME. SLOWING PUMPING, BURPING, FUELING FAST, HOLDING NOZZLES AT DIFFERENT DEPTHS DOES NOTHING TO ALLEVIATE ISSUE. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN JANUARY 2012 AND EVERY SINGLE TIME I FUEL UP, NO MATTER WHAT GAS STATION, ETC. THE FUEL SHUTOFF DOES NOT WORK AND GAS IS SPEWED ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR ALONG WITH ME OR ANYTHING ELSE CLOSE TO THE CAR. THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID THIS IT TO GUESS AT WHEN IT IS GETTING FULL AND STOP IT BEFORE IT GETS FULL. THIS HAS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT IS SPEWING GASOLINE EVERYWHERE. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM AND ALL SUGGEST A FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT AT AROUND $1000. NOT MANY PEOPLE CAN AFFORD THAT AND THIS IS JUST AN ACCIDENT/EXPLOSION WAITING TO HAPPEN. RECEIVED INDICATOR LIGHT THAT ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL FAILED, IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC MY CAR DROPPED SPEED TO 20 MILES AN HOUR, I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WITH TWO CHILDREN IN MY CAR. I HAVE SPOKE TO SEVERAL DODGE CERTIFIED MECHANICS AND THEY HAS ALL ATTESTED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT NOT BEING FIXED. I CALLED DODGE AND THEY SAID MY ISSUE WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. WHEN I TOLD THEM THAT I SPOKE TO THEIR MECHANICS AND RESEARCH AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THIS ISSUE THEY SAID AND I QUOTE "YOU CAN FIND ANYTHING YOU WANT IF YOU SEARCH LONG ENOUGH". SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF THEIR CAR DROPS TO 20 MILES AN HOUR ON A FREEWAY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS THAT IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. PLEASE RECALL NOW FOR SAFETY REASONS! *TR
MY 2008 DODGE AVENGER WILL SPILL FUEL AT EVERY REFUELING REGARDLESS IF I USE THE LOCKING MECHANISM ON THE FUEL PUMP OR IF I FILL BY HAND WHEN THE TANK GETS TO FULL TANK. IT'S ALMOST LIKE THERE IS TOO MUCH PRESSURE BUILT UP THAT IT SPITS FUEL BACK OUT. THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH A LOT OF NEW AVENGERS.
