TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL SLIGHTLY SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THE ALL FOUR BALL JOINTS AND STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A WATER PUMP MALFUNCTION AND THE FUEL TANK FILLER NECK HAD CORRODED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLES DRIVER SIDE REAR BALL JOINT AND THE FILLER NECK WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER HAS OVER FIVE HUNDRED ORDERS WAITING FOR THE MAPPING SENSOR, WHICH IS THE MASS AIR FLOW PRESSURE SENSOR, THAT ALLOWS THE ENGINE TO START. WITHOUT THIS PART, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE STALLS CONSTANTLY. SHE WAS INVOLVED IN THREE CRASHES DUE TO THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. AFTER IT STALLS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTS WITHIN A MINUTE. THE DEALER CANNOT PROVIDE A SPECIFIC TIME OF WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.

THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT BECAUSE THERE WAS ENGINE SLUDGE, NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND NOTICED A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE. I CHECKED THE OIL, AND IT WAS LOW. I WAS NOT DUE FOR A CHANGE, SO I PUT OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE KNOCK CONTINUED UNTIL ONE DAY IT BECAME AN AWFUL SOUND, AND SHUT OFF. I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO MY HOUSE WHERE IT HAS SAT FOR A MONTH. I HAD A MECHANIC DIAGNOSE ,Y CAR AND HE SAID IT WAS A ROD, AND THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I HAVE NOTICED WHERE SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CHRYSLER 2.7 VALVE ENGINE. MY BELIEVE IS THAT THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE SEBRING ENGINES. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAVE 65,000 PLUS MILES AND WE HAD ONLY HAD THE CAR BACK 3 WEEKS WHEN THE ENGINE BLEW THE 2ND TIME. THE DEALER THAT REPAIRED THIS VEHICLE HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE ME WITH ALL THE WORK THAT WAS COMPLETED ON THIS VEHICLE. THE COMPANY IS BOB FRENSLEY CHRYSLER IN GOODLETTSVILLE, TN - 615 859-0000.
