THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS THERE WAS PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND UNEXPECTEDLY, THE SPEED RATE REDUCED TO 20 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ON THE EMERGENCY LANE WITH CAUTION AND SUDDENLY, THE SPEED RATE INCREASED TO 70 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE IDENTICAL FAILURES OCCURRED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS RESET THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR CODE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR THE ABS FAILED AND CAUSED THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE APPROXIMATE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS BETWEEN $1,500 TO $2,000. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED IN APRIL OF 2006 AND IN SEPTEMBER OF 2007. IN JANUARY OF 2007, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BEARING WAS REPLACED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND CHEAP PARTS. THE AIR CONDITIONER ALSO BEGAN TO LEAK.
