Hello, I am worried about the problem that persists for more than 5 years that the car is in my possession, my 2005 Chrysler 300c, it is always the same problem when I fill the fuel tank, the car does not want to start, I have to wait at least 10 minutes at the pump trying several times to start it again, this occurs at an intersection, at a traffic light, and even while in traffic, endangering my life and the lives of other drivers, please I need help!!!!
Hello, my name is [XXX] , and my car continues to have the same problem for more than 5 years that it has been in my possession, after refilling the car completely with fuel, the car automatically turns off and this happens at a traffic light or anywhere, this is very dangerous since I interfere with traffic, please I do not know what to do to solve it, in many forums there are many 2005 Chrysler vehicles that have the same problem from the factory, please I need help. The fuel sending unit is poorly manufactured and cracks and leaks raw fuel directly under the back seat.
Fuel sending unit cracks which lets raw fuel pool directly under backseat.
The fuel tank gasket failed. When fuel car to full the gas seeps out and puddles on top of access area under rear passenger seats and fills car with gas fumes. Only seeps out when you fill car to full
When the fuel tank is topped off the vehicle stalls 2-6 times until the excess fuel is burned off. This has happened on the road, in parking lots, intersections, etc. It causes total loss of power & power steering. Additionally, I usually have to shift to Park, Neutral, Reverse, Drive, Reverse, and then drive again in order to get the transmission to lock back in forward gearing. Causing me to have to additionally pull over, or stop, when/wherever the incident occurs.

EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK UP THE CAR OIL LIGHT COMES ON AND IT STALLS. SOMETIMES IT DOES THIS 2 OR 3 TIMES THEN IT RUNS OK UNTIL ITS TIME TO FILL CAR UP AGAIN, THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENS.
WHEN REFUELING MY CHRYSLER 300C BACK TO FULL CAPACITY IT WILL IMMEDIATELY STALL OUT AND SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE CAR WILL START RIGHT UP AGAIN NO PROBLEM, AND CONTINUE TO STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC MULTIPLE TIMES FOLLOWING UNTIL IT BURNS OFF ENOUGH FUEL TO STOP. I ALSO HAVE BEEN SMELLING RAW GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM VARIES. THE ODOR IS HIGHLY POTENT COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR. NEVER WITNESSED ANY FLUID LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE CAR OR NOTICEABLY IN FUEL TANK GAUGE UNTIL THIS MORNING, IT WAS LEAKING OUT FROM THE TRIM PANEL UNDERNEATH THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE .
AFTER I REFUEL MY CAR, IT ALWAYS SMELLS LIKE GAS INSIDE THE CAB. I RECENTLY LOOKED TO SEE WHERE IT IS COMING FROM, AND FOUND IT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK SEAT. THE TRANSFER PUMP HAS A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE ON THE BACK SIDE OF IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE.
EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED WITH GAS, THE ENGINE STALLS OUT NO MATTER WHERE IT IS BEING DRIVEN. HYW OR STREET/CITY ROAD.
GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE CABIN TRACED TO THE GAS PUMP/SENDING UNIT LOCATED BELOW THE FLOOR MAT DIRECTLY BENEATH THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE SEAT. A 1/2" DEEP PUDDLE OF GAS FORMS AT THE REAR OF THE UNIT WHICH REAPPEARS AFTER BEING SOAKED UP.
TAKATA RECALL . MY 2005 CHRYSLER 300C 5.7 STARTED SMELLING LIKE GAS EVERY TIME I FILLED UP THE TANK.TIME PAST TILL I DECIDED TO TAKE A LOOK WHY IT SMELLED LIKE GAS.FURST THING TO CHECK WAS THE FUEL PUPMS.FINDING THST THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD A BUDLE OF GAS ONTOP OF THE FUEL PUMP HOUSING .I REPLACED THE RUBBER GASKET BUT THAT DIDNT HELP AT ALL .SO NOW I NEED TO REPLACE THE FUER PUMP BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT HAVE A CRACK SOMEWHERE .
THIS CAR HAS A PROBLEM EVERY TIME ITS TIME TO FILL GAS TANK CAR IS RUNNING FINE ONCE I'M DONE WITH THE FILLING UP AND I AM LEAVING THE GASOLINE STATION THE CAR STALLS WITH NO WARNING OR ANYTHING IT HAS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I FUEL UP ONE TIME I CAME TO A RED LIGHT WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO ON GREEN IT SHUT OFF ON ME AND DID NOT WANT TO TURN ON AFTER LIKE THE 5TH TRY. ON MY CAR WHEN THE GAS TANK IS AUTO FILLED ALL THE WAY, UNTIL IT CLICKS, THEN IT STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING AND IS VERY HARD TO RESTART SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE YOU CAN ATTEMPT TO RESTART.THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES. I WAS LUCKY I WASN'T HIT BY ANOTHER CAR WHEN COASTING IT PARTLY OFF THE ROAD. SINCE THEN, I HAVE LEARNED, AS LONG AS I DON'T FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY FULL THE STALL OUTS DON'T HAPPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300C. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CONTACT REFUELED THE VEHICLE, IT STALLED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE EVENTUALLY OPERATING NORMALLY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT OF FUEL INSIDE THE FUEL TANK. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
CAR SHUTS OFF AFTER FILLING, WAS JUST EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE STARTING 2 YEARS AGO, BUT NOW IT SHUTS OFF AFTER EVERY FILL UP, AND WHEN IT SHUTS OFF THEN THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. WILL SHUT OFF AS SOON AS I LEAVE THE GAS STATION, AND WILL CONTINUE EVERY TIME I SLOW DOWN, FOR APPROX.10 MILES. AFTER BEING REAR ENDED IN TRAFFIC AT A STOP LIGHT, DUE TO I STARTED TO MOVE AND THE CAR SHUT OFF, BUT THE PERSON BEHIND ME DIDN'T REALIZE MY CAR QUIT AND LIGHTLY HIT ME. I HAVE LEARNED THAT I CAN NO LONGER FILL UP AT ANY GAS STATION, I HAVE TO FILL UP WHERE I KNOW I CAN JUST DRIVE WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN FOR ABOUT 10 MILES. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THE CAR JUST SHUTS DOWN WHEN U FILL THE GAS TANK ALL THE WAY UP. I FILLED THE TANK AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AND MERGE ON TO HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT ANY LIGHTS OR WARNING THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DOING 65. I LOST POWER AND THE VEHICLE IS HAD TO CONTROL. IT TOOK A SECOND TO START BACK UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY UP. IT'S AN ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK OR A VALVE GETTING STUCK OPEN/CLOSED IN THE TANK. I FILLED THE TANK AGAIN AND JUST WAITED AT THE GAS STATION TO SEE IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT DID. I WAITED ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE SITTING AT THE GAS STATION.. I LEFT THE GAS STATION AS SOON AS I TURNED...
THIS CAR WILL STALL AT COMPLETELY RANDOM INTERVALS. IT HAS DONE IT AT SPEED, ON ACCELERATION, ON DECELERATION, AT STOPS. OCCASIONALLY THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. THE CAR WILL ALSO SPIT, SPUTTER AND BUCK AT SPEEDS ABOVE 35MPH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THERE IS A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING, BRAKES, ETC. IN ORDER TO RESTART THE CAR, IT REQUIRES BEING PLACED INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK, AND TRYING AT LEAST 3 TIMES BEFORE ENGINE WILL RUN AGAIN. THE CAR WILL USUALLY CONTINUE TO STALL 3-10 TIMES. ON RETURNING TO "DRIVE" THE CAR WILL USUALLY STAY STATIONARY FOR ANOTHER 5-10 SECONDS BEFORE SURGING FORWARD. REVERSE DOES NOT HAVE THIS EFFECT. CAR HAS BEEN CHECKED BY SEVERAL MECHANICS, WHO CAN PULL NO CODES, AND DON'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY CLUE WHAT IS CAUSING THE INTERMITTENT ISSUE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS THERE IS NO WARNING THE CAR IS ABOUT TO...
ENGINE STALLS AFTER FILL UP. USUALLY STALLS 3 TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS. COULD BE DANGEROUS IF IT STALLED WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC.
CAR DIES AFTER FUELING. IT WILL SPUTTER THEN DIE, IT WILL ALSO DIE WHILE COMING TO A STOP. AFTER REFUELING IT SPUTTERS AND DIES AT GAS STATION BUT IT CAN HAPPEN WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MILES. IT WILL DIE WHILE PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. READING ON LINE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT. IT ALSO WILL NOT ALWAYS GO BACK INTO GEAR AFTER IT DIES.
WHEN I FILL THE GAS TANK THE CAR STOPS AND LOSES ALL POWER. THIS HAPPENS A FEW TIMES UNTIL I USE SOME GAS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED A FEW TIMES.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH FUEL ON TAKE OFF FROM STOP LIGHT TWICE CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM LIGHT INTO TRAFFIC, THEN AGAIN AFTER STOPPING CAR TO RESTART IT. THEN 2 MINUTES LATER MAKING A LEFT TURN CAR MADE A DING NOICE AND DIED AGAIN!!
STALLING AFTER FILL UP AND UNDER ACCELERATION. CAR STALLS OUT AND ALL POWER SYSTEMS FAIL WITHIN MINUTES AFTER REFUELING TO A FULL TANK. CAR IS IN MOTION AT ANY SPEED AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED TWO REAR END CRASHES FROM CARS BEHIND IT WHEN IT SUDDENLY STOPS AND THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SHUT OFF. THIS ALSO HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION AT 1700 RPM AT ANY TIME. CAR IS ALWAYS IN MOTION. CAR CAN BE RESTARTED AGAIN WITHIN A FEW SECONDS TO 5 MINUTES LATER. PROBLEM STARTED AT 130,000 MILES. POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK, FUEL LINE, FILTER OR STUCK VALVE. MECHANICS SAY THERE IS NO FIX AND TO NOT FILL UP THE GAS TANK.
I GOT FUEL IN MY VEHICLE APPROX. 3/4 OF A TANK AFTER FUELING MY VEHICLE STALLED WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE PURGE SOLENOID, THE PCM, AND THE EGR VALVE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS AND HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AFTER FULLY FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE CAR WILL COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE EITHER AT IDLE, OR AT LOW SPEED. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, IT GAVE A CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT WITH A FAULT CODE TO CHECK THE FUEL CAP. ON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE FUEL CAP WAS PROPERLY SEATED. NOW, WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS, IT NO LONGER GIVES THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT INDICATION. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS LESS THAN COMPLETELY FULL. THE PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEM NHTSA INVESTIGATED IN 2006 CHRYSLER 300S RESULTING IN CHRYSLER EXTENDING THE FUEL TANK WARRANTY TO LIFETIME COVERAGE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AS WHEN THE CAR DIES, ALL POWER IS LOST TO THE CAR TO INCLUDE STEERING AND BRAKING. TYPICALLY THIS OCCURS AT A STOP LIGHT, BUT COULD HAPPEN IN A MUCH MORE DANGEROUS POSITION.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS THE CAR WILL STALL REPEATEDLY FOR SEVERAL MILES. IT THEN RUNS NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. I RECENTLY BOUGHT THE CAR FOR MY SON WHO JUST TURNED 16. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS THE FIRST TIME HE FILLED UP WHILE DRIVING ALONE. NEEDLESS TO SAY HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. LUCKILY HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE STATE HIGHWAY HE WAS DRIVING ON (3 LANES EACH DIRECTION) BEFORE IT TOTALLY STOPPED. THE POWER STEERING SHUT OFF SO HE HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME EVEN TURNING OFF THE MAIN ROAD. IT NOW HAS DONE THE SAME THING FOR THE LAST 3 FILL UPS WHICH WERE ALL AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS TO RULE OUT BAD GAS AT A PARTICULAR STATION. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
AFTER REFUELING, VEHICLE WILL START MOVING AND THEN ENGINE "CHOKES OUT AND CUTS OFF . ACTING AS IF I JUST PUT IN BAD FUEL. I CAN SIT AND IDEAL AND IT WILL RUN JUST FINE, I CAN RACE THE ENGINE AND THERE IS NOT PROBLEM. HOWEVER, WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, JUST AS IT SEEMS TO BECOMING OUT OF 1ST GEAR IT CHOKES OUT AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. I ACCELERATED TO MERGE ONTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, JUST AFTER FILLING THE TANK, THE ENGINE CHOKES OUT AND CUTS OFF AND MY FAMILY WAS ALMOST HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. EACH TIME ENGINE CUTS OFF I LOOSE BRAKE AND STEERING FUNCTION. THIS IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME NOW, WHEN I FILL THE TANK. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL BUT MANY REPORTS TO CHRYSLER SERVICE.
AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK: VEHICLE STALLED TWICE WHILE DRIVING. DIFFICULT RESTARTS. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. AT THE SECOND OCCASION, AFTER FILLING, I COULD HEAR PROLONGED "GURGLING" SOUND FROM FUEL TANK FILLER NECK. I AM CONVINCED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL TANK VENTING SYSTEM - PERHAPS A CLOGGED VENT TUBE.

FILLED THE CAR WITH GAS AND THE CAR DIED WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF THE GAS STATION. RESTARTED THE CAR AND HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TWO MORE TIMES. THIS HAS SINCE HAPPENED AFTER EVER FILL UP SINCE. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE MAY 1ST 2015. THE ISSUES WITH IT DYING STARTED HAPPENING THE VERY FIRST FILL UP. WE JUST FIGURED IT WAS A VAPOR LOCK BUT AFTER READING THE COMPLIANTS, OVIOUSLY NOT. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS SOMEONE IS GOING TO HURT.
MY WIFE WAS TAKING OUR TWO KIDS TO SCHOOL WHEN THE CAR MADE A HORRIBLE NOISE WHEN FIRST TRYING TO START THE CAR EARLY IN THE MORNING. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHERE HE FOUND THAT THE CYLINDER VALVE SEAT FELL OFF THE CYLINDER HEAD AND FELL DOWN INTO THE PISTON CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE VALVES AND PISTON. REPLACING THE ENGINE FOR $8000 WAS AN OPTION, HOWEVER YOU ARE REPLACING IT WITH THE SAME TYPE OF ENGINE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AGAIN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT OF THIS ENGINE FOR 2005-2006 CHRYSLER 300 C. THIS HAPPENED 4 MONTHS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. *TR

I FILLED UP THE GAS TANK AND WHEN I LEFT THE GAS STATION, ABOUT 1 MILE AWAY THE CAR STALLED AND I HAD TO DRIFT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GET IT STARTED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM. I FOUND OUT THAT IT IS A VALVE IN THE GAS TANK THAT WENT BAD. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. IT SEEMS THAT IT SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN A CAR STALLS PULLING OUT ON TO A BUSY HIGHWAY.

2005 CHRYSLER 300 HEMI 5.7. IF YOU ALMOST FILL GAS TANK, THE CAR WILL STALL OUT WITHOUT WARNING FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO DAYS. I HAVE ASKED THE LOCAL DEALER. THEY SHOW NO TSB OR RECALL. THIS IS NOT SAFE. I HAVE SEEN MANY ARTICLES ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS REPEATEDLY AFTER FILLING UP. IN REFERENCE TO PE13016, THE ACTION REFERS TO CARS FROM MODEL YEARS 2005 AND 2006. YET, THE FINAL INVESTIGATION RESULTS ONLY INCLUDE THE 2006 MODEL YEAR? 2005 CARS ARE ALSO AFFECTED. THIS IS WELL DOCUMENTED NOT ONLY IN COMPLAINTS LISTED HERE BUT ALL OVER IN INTERNET FORUMS. FILLED UP TANK AT GAS STATION AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING GAS STATION THE CAR STALLED, RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY BUT FELT SLUGGISH. STARTED A RIGHT TURN AND ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TURN! THIS REALLY SCARRED ME AS IT WAS A BUSY INTERSECTION AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! I RESTARTED AND STALLED A BLOCK LATER. I TOOK CAR TO A MECHANIC TO TEST GAS AND HE FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH THE GAS. THE CAR RAN FINE THE NEXT DAY. FOR THE LAST COUPLE YEARS, MY CHRYSLER 300C WOULD OCCASIONALLY STALL. MOSTLY IT WOULD BE AT LOWER SPEEDS, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES THE CAR WOULD STALL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE SPENT A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUE. I JUST RECENTLY REALIZED, IT WOULD OCCUR WHEN I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS. AFTER FILLING CAR WITH GAS IT DIES JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 WEEKS AGO AND IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES ALL AFTER GETTING GAS, LOOKED AND NO RECALLS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. *JS
