2011 Chrysler 200, 156k miles, Original owner. At Highway Speeds engine will shut off! Extremely dangerous as you lose power steering and brakes on a busy interstate. No warning lights. No check engine. Issue just started happening and has happened multiple times in last 3 weeks. Car is unsafe to drive. After occurrence car will restart after about 30 minutes. I do not know why NHTSA or Chrysler hasn't done anything to initiate an investigation and recall. This issue is widely reported on many forums. After second instance, a repair shop reproduced issue and saw U1403 so they updated PCM/ECU as they couldn't find anything else. It has happened since then and my scanner showed DTC codes P061C status code 30 and U0401 status code 20.

I BOUGHT A 2011 CHRYSLER 200 SEDAN IN THE SUMMER OF 2021. IN DECEMBER OF2021, I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE MY HEATER DIDN'T WORK. UPON THEIR DIAGNOSIS, THEY SAID I HAD A BAD HEATER CORE. BECAUSE I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR, THEY AGREED TO TAKE OFF $400 OFF THE REPAIR. IT STILL COST ME $1100.00. FAST FORWARD TWO YEARS AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. UNFORTUNATELY, THE WARRANTY EXPIRED 1 MONTH EARLIER. I BELIEVE THIS IS BAD DESIGNED UNIT. UPON RESEARCHING PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, IT COMES UP AS A PRETTY COMMON OCCURANCE. I KNOW THEY DON'T BUILD THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER SHOULD'VE COME UP WITH A DESIGN FIX FOR THIS.
I already have a compliant from back in January of 2022 and original incident date of December 2021. I am still having the same issue with the engine stalling while driving. This keeps happening on highways. At this point the government and Chrysler are a joke. This is supposed to be highway safety yet you guys are letting us with Chryslers deal with this and put our life at risk. Not everyone has the ability to have another car to drive, or just has money to trade their vehicle in. I dont get how this "problem" was so called fixed yet EVERYONE IS HAVING THE ISSUE STILL. Wasting thousands of dollar to not find a solution. If something happens to me because of this I promise you I will sue NHTSA and Chrysler Dealer and make sure I make you guys just a miserable as we Chrysler owners are.
My car will die sometimes upon acceleration and does not restart for up to an hour sometime. No check engine light comes on. From my research online, a lot of people are having the same issue and are reporting it to be a faulty PCM (Powertrain Control Module). My RPM drops to zero and I have to coast to the shoulder of the road. It happens at least once a week.
The vehicle repeatedly stalls out when coming to a stop or when sitting at a stop light or in traffic, and has also shut off while driving at higher speeds on the freeway. This has put myself and passengers in danger, as power steering goes out when the engine is off and braking becomes much harder. The car will not turn back on if the problem occurs at higher speeds, but will turn back on if it occurs at lower speeds and stops. I have taken the car to several shops and they have confirmed this is an issue but cannot pinpoint what exactly is causing it, which has gotten to be very costly. i will be driving at the speed limit and the vehicle engine will turn off. power steering and control of the vehicle will stop. the car will not restart leaving me stranded on the road. this appears to be an issue that others are reporting. there is NO check engine light or any notification that the engine is about to stop.

The car begins to buck hard and drive sluggish on the highway around 45 miles per hour. And when stopped idle at the light stalls regularly. I took it to the dealer and they had me replace the cam shift sensor. The repair did not work. It continues to stall
On multiple occasions, the car will stall while driving, locking up the whole system and forcing the driver to coast to the side of the road. The car will not restart for 30-40 minutes while you sit stranded on the side of the road. Searches on the car reveal this is not the only one it is happening to. This needs to be investigated as a car stalling on the freeway in 0 degree weather is a major hazard.
My engine is misfiring out of the clear blue. And when I say misfire I mean my vehicle will literally shut off mid-drive as you’re in traffic. Everything completely shuts off and the wheel will lock up. So if you’re not somewhere where you can pull over a pile up will ensue. I have taken it to a shop when the car cut off on the highway for the 3rd with what I thought was the issue. I spent large amounts of money for the shutting off to continue. 1) The engine suddenly cut off, power braking and power steering were gone. This happens randomly under any circumstances, with absolutely no precursors. The car will not start for about an hour, and after that time it starts with absolutely no issues, no check engine light, nothing. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. 2) While driving on the highway at about 65mph, all power was lost, and ability to control the car was extremely limited, and this happened multiple times. Yesterday, when I was dropping Christmas, presents off to my son at his moms' house. My 2011 Chrysler 200, Convertible limited with 3.6L v6 Pentastar flex-fuel motor. temp gauge went all the way up into Red. Which had to cross lanes on highway so I could get off on the freeway ramp. which I made it a block and the car stalled in below-freezing temps with no heat figuring out what to do as I get out of the vehicle I noticed brown motor oil bubbling and gushing out a Coolant reservoir With oil streaks all the way down passenger side car including through rims. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. FIRST TIME IT STARTED BACK UP AFTER 5 MINUTES. SECOND TIME STARTED BACK UP AFTER BEING JUMPED EVENTHOUGH THE BATTERY HAD CHARGE. THIS LAST TIME THE CAR WOULD NOT START. IT HAS THE POWER IT WAS TURNING OVER BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. POWER STEERING TURNED OFF IN BOTH OCCASIONS. I HAD TO HAVE ME VEHICLE TOWED AND IT STILL WILL NOT START. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON A PAVED HIGHWAY ROUTE 244, IT TURNED OFF ON A STRAIGHT AWAY, NO HILLS OR TURNS.
HEATER CORE PLUGS FROM THE DEXCOOL BRAKING DOWN, THEN FINALLY STARTS TO LEAK CAUSING LACK OF HEAT, EVENTUALLY FOGGING THE WINDOWS SO YOU CAN'T SEE CAUSING MULTIPLE SAFETY HAZARDS. COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I SEE ON LINE! YOU DON'T REALIZE IN SUMMER WHEN YOU BUY THE CAR TILL YOU GO TO USE IT IN THE SPRING AND IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!

DRIVING ON THE ROAD IN MOTION, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING. HAD IT TOWED TO SHOP WHERE IT STARTED UPON ARRIVAL (APPROX. 1 HOUR). NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME. RAN ENGINE SCAN AND NO CODES CAME UP. DIAGNOSTIC PROVIDED NO INFORMATION. CONDITION COULD NOT BE REPEATED. NOTHING WAS RESOLVED. HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WHILE IN MOTION OVER THE NEXT 2 MONTHS. SOMETIMES ON THE FREEWAY, SOME ON A ROAD. ALWAYS STARTS AGAIN AFTER 45 MINUTES. HAS BEEN TO MULTIPLE SHOPS WHERE NOTHING IS DIAGNOSED. PROBLEM PERSISTS TO THIS DAY. WE INSTALLED AN ENGINE SCANNER TO DETECT ANY CODES GIVEN WHEN ENGINE QUITE. THE CONTACT GOT OUT THE VEHICLE TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON HOWEVER FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. NO DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS TAKEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 183,790.
THE CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY
WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY DECELERATING OR GETTING READY TO STOP OR ALREADY STOPPED AND GETTING READY TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE WILL STALL OR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, WILL BE COMPLETELY HOT, WILL TAKE ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES AND THEN WILL START AGAIN. THIS HAS CAUSED MY SON SAFETY ISSUES WHERE HE'S COMPLETELY STOPPED RUNNING ON A BUSY ROAD AND THEN HAD TO PUSH THE CAR INTO EITHER A PARKING LOT WITHOUT POWER STEERING (HARD TO DO BY HIMSELF AT 18 YO) OR INTO A DRIVEWAY. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED IN THE COUNTRY AT NIGHT. NO LIGHTS COME ON EXCEPT ONCE WHEN THE ABS AND TRACTION LIGHTS CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE SLIGHTLY BEFORE EACH EPISODE. THE LAST EPISODE WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 TIMES. NOW NO LONGER DRIVING DUE TO SAFETY!!

THE CHRYSLER 200 WILL STALL OUT OF THE BLUE AND THE ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES WITHIN THE PAST MONTH. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN YOU LET UP ON THE ACCELERATOR. ALL THE TIMES IT HAPPENED WAS WHILE IN THE CITY. IT HAPPENS WHILE ALWAYS IN DRIVE AND ON THE ROAD. 3 TIMES HAD TO GET IT TOWED. THE CAR STALLS WHEN IT SLOWS DOWN OR COMES TO A STOP (FOR EXAMPLE AT A RED LIGHT). SO FAR, IT STARTS UP WITH NO PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IF IT STALLS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DESPITE ATTEMPTING A VARIETY OF FIXES, SO FAR NOTHING HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
THE CAR HAS STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND HEATER DID NOT WORK BUT THAT HAS SINCE STARTED WORKING ON ITS OWN. NOW CAR OVERHEATED AND WHEN DRIVING IT SOUNDS AS IF WATER OR SOMETHING IS TRYING TO GO THROUGH PIPE BUT MAYBE ISNT ALSO STARTED TO LEAK ALL COOLANT. AND BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED. HAD THE CAR CHECKED AND REPLACED THERMOSTAT BUT THAT DIDNT FIX ISSUE.ALSO WHEN DRIVING ALL LIGHTS ON DASH TURNED ON AND STARTED TO BEEP. WAS JUST ARRIVING AT A STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT CAR DID NOT TURN ON. HAD A TOW TRUCK COME OUT AND THEY JUMP STARTED ME AND SAID SOMETHING WAS DRAINING MY BATTERY. ALSO WHEN PUMPING GAS IT CONSTANTLY STOPS AND YOU HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING HANDLE OR MOVE IT AROUND.

I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND LIGHT TURNED GREEN WENT TO PRESS GAS AND CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF NO WARNING AT ALL NO LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD I PUT IT IN PARK SHUT IT OFF AND STARTED IT RIGHT BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEM THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK ALSO NO CODES COMING UP ON SCANNER
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR CUT OFF COMPLETELY. I HAD TO TRY AND MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE CAR DID NOT START BACK UP AFTER 30 MINUTES. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS FOR A MONTH WHERE THE CAR DOES NOT RESTART AFTER I GO TO THE STORE.

I HAD NO WARNING IT DID RECRANK BUT AS I HIT THE GAS SOFTLY I CUTS BACK OFF NOW I HAVE TRIED SO MANY TIMES DUE TO THE DANGER OF MY LOCATION THE BATTERY DIED THIS HAS TO BE A RECALL AND CLASS ACTION SUIT.

THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. AS I'M SLOWING UP TO TURN, OR COMING UP ON A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, THE CAR TENDS TO START STALLING. IF I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BEFORE STEPPING ON THE BREAKS, IT DOESN'T DO IT. BUT IF I DON'T PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL IT WILL STALL & THE RPM WILL DROP TO 0 & THE CAR WILL CUT OFF.

AT RANDOM TIMES, THE CAR WILL JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING L OR TURNING. ABSOLUTELY NO POWER FOR A LITTLE BIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIME. IN 3 WEEKS TIME THE CAR STALLED MIDWAY IN THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING AS IF IT WERE GOING TO TURN OFF. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS AND IT WAS THE SHOCK PLUGS. THEN THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO REPLACE ALL FOUR BRAKES. A DAY LATER THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DRIVING MY SON TO SCHOOL THE CAR PULLED BACK AND SHOOK AND SHUT DOWN. I TOOK IT BACK IN FOR REPAIRS AND IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. TODAY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FROZE MIDWAY. THIS IS THE MOST UNSAFE CAR AND ALL SHOULD BE RECALLED IN GENERAL.
SO MY CAR HAS STALLED OVER 10 TIMES SINCE 2018 SINCE IT HAS DIED MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NO LONGER COME UNTIL I GET THIS FIXED . WHEN ACCELERATING MY CAR WILL DIE AND NOT START FOR TWO HOURS. THE FIRST TIME I WAS LEAVING A STOP SIGH AND IT DIED SO I COASTED TO THE SIDE. THE SECOND TIME I PULLED OUT TO PASS A SLOW VEHICLE GOING 40 MPH AND THE CAR DIED. BOTH TIMES I HAD TO LEAVE IT FOR A COUPLE HOURS AND THEN IT STARTED. THIS HAPPENED A MONTH APART. FIRST TIME WAS IN THE CITY AND THE SECOND TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO A CLOSE BY CHRYSLER DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND CHARGED 100 DOLLARS TO HOOK IT UP TO THERE DIAGNOSTIC READER.
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR AT SPEEDS OF BETWEEN 15MPL TO 70MPH ON COUNTRY ROADS, HIGHWAYS AND FREEWAYS WHEN THE ENGINE SIMPLY SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 14 TIMES DURING THE LAST EIGHT MONTHS BETWEEN MAY 23, 2018, AND JANUARY 10, 2019, 1/10/19 BEING LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED 14 TIMES AS INDICATED PREVIOUSLY INDICATED. IT WAS AS IF I HAD SIMPLY TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS TWICE AND NEITHER ME, THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN NOR THE CHRYSLER AGENT THE TECHNICIAN CONTACTED HAS BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE COMPONENT PART OR SYSTEM THAT COULD BE THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN. ON JANUARY 10, 2019, I WAS TRAVELING ON A BUSY FREEWAY (BELTWAY 8) KN HOUSTON TX AND EXITED THE OFF RAMP ONTO 249 ((TOMBALL PARKWAY) WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED COASTING TO A STOP...
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN THE 2011 CHRYSLER 200 JUST SHUT OFF. DASH WENT DARK, RADIO OFF, CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF! LUCKILY SHE WAS BY AN OFF RAMP AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP AT THE TOP OF THE RAMP. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS STILL WORKING WAS THE BRAKES, THANK GOODNESS! THE CAR DID NOT RESTART RIGHT AWAY. NO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS CAME BACK ON EITHER WITH TURNING THE KEY. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER THE CAR DID RESTART. WE TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THEY KEPT IT FOR 2 DAYS. THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL ANY CODES FROM THE CAR OR RECREATE THE EVENT, THUS BEING UNABLE TO FIX THE CAR AND ANSWER WHY IT HAPPENED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER 200. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I OWE A 2011 CHRYSLER 200S AND IT HAS BEEN STALLING AND CUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE. I HAVE READ OVER 300 COMPLAINTS ABOUT ENGINE STALLING WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF MY CAR. CHRYSLER MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO ASSIST. I NEAR CAUSE 2 ACCIDENTS DUE TO CAR STALLING ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF I HAD NO STEERING CAPABILITY AND WHEN TRYING TO START IT WONT UNTIL ABOUT AN HOUR LATER
MY VEHICLE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AFTER GETTING A NEW BATTERY. THEN DRIVING ONE DAY ON STREET IT JUST STALLED OUT. IT STARTED UP AFTER 2 MINS. PARKED IT ABOUT 1/2 AN HOUR IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP ONLY TO STALL AGAIN 2 MORE TIMES BOTH ON STREET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I GOT A ALERT OIL CHANGE REQUIRED (WALMART) CHANGED THE OIL MADE IT HOME LATER WENT BACK OUT FOR THE CAR TO STALL AGAIN SAME BUSY STREET, IT STARTED ABOUT 4 MINS LATER, MADE IT HOME DIDN'T MOVE IT COUPLE DAYS. MECHANIC PUT IT ON DIAGNOSTIC SAID I NEEDED ALTERNATOR STILL STALLING AFTER NEW ALTERNATOR. HAVEN'T HAD THE CAR A MONTH! BATTERY LIGHT STILL ON AFTER NEW ALTERNATOR AS WELL.
ENGINE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING AND IF LUCKY STARTS UP AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR WITHOUT ANY INDICATION WHY.
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS SHIFTED HARD AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING A HARD TIME SHIFTING INTO THE NEXT GEAR, IT REVS UP AND I HAVE TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS IN ORDER FOR IT TO SHIFT. THIS SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN IN THE LOWER GEARS. ONCE I'M ABOVE 30 ITS FINE. THE CODE THAT JUST CAME ON IS LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE.
LOST POWER - CAR SUDDENTLY STOPPED ON I5 LA TO SACRAMENTO ON THE FREEWAY AND HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY...HAD TO PULLOVER. CAR LOST POWER. THANK GOD NOBODY HIT ME. VERY SCARY.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING STOP-AND-GO, RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. AT THE MOMENT OF THE ENGINE STALLING, I WAS COASTING WITH MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR AT LESS THAN 5 MPH, UP A SLIGHT INCLINE, ON AN OVERPASS AND INSIDE OF A CONSTRUCTION ZONE THAT WAS VOID OF A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ONTO. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO MAKE IT OVER THE UPHILL OVERPASS, THE PEDAL WAS LIMP AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE ELECTRICAL PANEL IN MY DASH WAS OFF, WITH THE VEHICLE STILL IN DRIVE AND NO PHYSICAL OR AUDIO SIGNS OF WARNING OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF. I QUICKLY HIT THE BRAKES TO AVOID ROLLING IN REVERSE DOWN THE OVERPASS, SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND TURNED THE IGNITION KEY TO OFF.
