#11512401 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC | | 150,000 miles
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the ABS would erroneously activate. During the failure, the stopping distance was increased and the ABS warning light was activated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V379000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.
#11454165 | SERVICE BRAKES | | N/A miles
ABS/Traction Control wheel speed sensors corroded, causing the ABS to activate at low speeds and making it impossible to stop the car. This is the same issue as has been reported for other VIN numbers of the same vehicle; see Safety Recall 05068 Front Wheel Speed Sensor Corrosion, https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2005/RCRIT-05V379-8709.pdf. However, that recall was limited to vehicles registered in the "Rust Belt" states; it appears that as this vintage of vehicle has aged, vehicles outside the Rust Belt now are experiencing the same problem, suggesting that the recall should be broadened.
