MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, ALL OF THE SUDDEN THESE MESSAGES STARTED TO APPEAR ON THE MESSAGE CENTER. ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED, SOMETHING ABOUT TRACTION CONTROL AND ANOTHER MESSAGE THAT I CAN NOT REMEMBER. THE CAR THEN LOST ALL POWER, IT SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. WE DID MAKE IT OVER TO THE "SLOW" LANE, BUT THERE WE SAT ON THE INTERSTATE WITH TRAFFIC ALL AROUND US. THE CAR WOULD NOT START!!! NEED LESS TO MY GIRLS AND MY SELF WERE TERRIFIED THAT WE WOULD BE HIT. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES THE CAR DID START AGAIN AND WE MADE IT TO OUR DESTINATION. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HWY GOING ABOUT 70-75 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME. THE ROAD CONDITION WAS NICE WITH NO SIGNS OF WATER ON THE HIGHWAY DURING THE HOURS OF 2 PM, GREAT SUNNY DAY. THE CAR JERKED ON ME LIKE THE THROTTLE WAS GOING DOWN. AFTERWARDS THE CAR JERKED AGAIN AND THE TRACTION LIGHT NOTIFICATION STARTED TO BEEP AND THE CAR IDLED DOWN AND I COULDN'T INCREASE MY SPEED. I CONTINUED ON THE HWY ASSUMING IT WOULD RECTIFY ITSELF BUT MY GIRL (WHO MAINLY DRIVES THE CAR), INFORMED ME IT'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER THE PAST YEAR OFF AND ON PROBABLY ONCE EVERY OTHER MONTH. FIRST THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF FOR THE PASSED MONTH, NEXT THE KEY BECOMES STUCK IN THE IGNITION THEN IT WENT OUT HAD TO REPLACE THAT. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON, THEN YOU GET A MESSAGE SAYING THE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THEN YOU GET A MESSAGE SAYING THE CAR IS SHUTTING DOWN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT NOW IT'S A LOT MORE FREQUENT. THIS SATURDAY I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 ON A THREE LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER/BREAK DOWN LANE. THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS GOING UP A HILL. CARS WERE FLYING UP BEHIND ME AND SWERVING TO MISS ME. NORMALLY IT TAKES ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND YOU CAN RESTART THE CAR. THIS TIME IT WAS ALMOST 10 MINUTES. I HAD A PANIC ATTACK SITTING THERE. ONCE THE CAR FINALLY STARTED I DROVE ABOUT 50 FEET AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. LUCKILY THERE WAS A DUNKIN DONUTS THERE AND I COASTED INTO THE PARKING LOT. I SAT THERE ABOUT 20 MINUTES SO I COULD CATCH MY BREATH, STOP...

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE EVAPORATOR VENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,964 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,968.
DRIVING TO WORK AND I GOT A DISPLAY MESSAGE THAT SAID SOMETHING SIMILAR TO "STABILITRACK REPAIR, ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND THEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN. NO POWER STEERING, NOTHING. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP, BUT I WASN'T ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND IT CAUSED A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I'VE READ ONLINE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH IMPALA'S AND SOMETHING THAT IS A DESIGN FLAW, AS THE SHUTTING DOWN OF THE CAR IS NOT NEEDED. HAD I BEEN IN TRAFFIC, A LARGE CAR PILE UP WOULD HAVE RESULTED. *JS
TRACTION CONTROL, STABILTRAK SYSTEM ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON REDUCED ENGINE POWER, THIS HAS HAPPEN A LOT OVER THE COUPLE MONTHS.
WHEN THE INCIDENT FIRST OCCURRED, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DASH READ "SERVICE STABILITRAK", "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". IT SEEMED FINE WHEN I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON. THE NEXT INCIDENT DIDN'T HAPPEN UNTIL A WHILE LATER, AND THEN IT WASN'T THAT BAD. A FEW MONTHS LATER, I WAS DRIVING BACK ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, EXCEPT IT SAID "STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE" AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER WAITING A FEW MINUTES. IT WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE. EVENTUALLY, LEADING UP TO TODAY, MY CAR GOT WORSE AND WORSE, AND EVENTUALLY IT JUST STARTED TURNING OFF AT STOPLIGHTS WITH THE MESSAGE "STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE". IT STARTS WITH THE OTHER MESSAGES ALMOST AS SOON AS I TURN ON THE CAR. THE ENGINE REVS AND...
AFTER WET WEAR HER STABILITY LIGHT MESSAGE, TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AS DOES ENGINE POWER REDUCED MESSAGE POWER IS REDUCED AND VEHICLE DIES IF YOU DO NOT PULL OVER AND TURN IT OFF AND BCK ON. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM WHICH GM IS AWARE OF AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES IF NOT DEALT WITH. *TR

THEN RESTARTED IT AGAIN IT WAS FINE FOR A MONTH . IT REPEATED SAME PROBLEM. NOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON .HDHAD CODE READ SAYING THROTTLE CABLE AND TRACTION CONTROL.TO ME THAT IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. HIGHWAY DRIVING THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT .I CAN SEE THIS HAS BEEN A ISSUE WITH GENERAL MOTORS WITH IMPALAS AND OTHER MODELS SINCE 2008.HOW MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS WOULD IT TAKE UNTIL ITS FIXED .COMPLAINTS KEEP COMING UP AFTER THROTTLE BODIES REPLACED STILL HAVING SAME PROBLEMS. THE CAR SPEED WAS OBVIOUSLY REDUCED AND I COULDN'T REALLY ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO CARMAX AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. IT HAPPENS SPORADICALLY, BUT SEEMINGLY ALWAYS ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE I'M TRAVELING AROUND 65--70 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AND I'VE BEEN TRYING TO RESEARCH WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. EVERY OTHER WEEK OR SO I GET THE "ENGINE POWER REDUCED/ SERVICE STABILTRACK/ SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND THE CAR WILL LOOSE POWER. AFTER AN HOUR OR SO OF SITTING WITH THE CAR OFF, IT RESETS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL THAT EVENTUALLY ALSO RESETS. TODAY I WAS DRIVING THE SAME TROUBLE CODES CAME ON AND THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER I HAD NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, THE POWER STEERING WAS DISENGAGED IT ALSO MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY THIS TIME. LUCKILY I PULLED INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT AND THE CAR RESET AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. THIS WARNING LIGHT AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE BUT I NEVER LOST COMPLETE POWER TO THE ENGINE AND STEERING LIGHT UNTIL TODAY. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE ISSUE THAT IS ONGOING WITH MANY GM OWNERS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY! *TR

I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2009 IMPALA AND THIS SAME THING HAPPENED! IT WOULD HAVE COST $1900 TO FIX WHICH IS WHY I JUST DECIDED TO UPGRADE AND BY ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LEAKING INTERNALLY AND THE RACK AND PINION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE STALLING FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32, 000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD AT 55 MILES PER HOUR IN MY 2010 IMPALA AND IT WAS JUST A NORMAL ACTIVITY NO EXCESSIVE TURNING OR DRIVING . MY LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID TO SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. THEN MY LIGHT SAID ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED. I WAS TRYING TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AN MY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND IT SAID IT WAS DISENGAGING THE THROTTLE AND MY CAR JUST QUIT. NO POWER STEERING NO WARNING JUST QUIT AND I BARELY GOT IT OFF THE ROAD IN TIME TO KEEP ME FROM CRASHING! THE CAR WOULDN'T START FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES BUT FINALLY I GOT IT STARTED AND MADE IT HOME. I OWN A 2010 IMPALA WITH WHAT SEEMS TO BE A WIRING PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN I GOOGLE THE PROBLEM TO TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG IT SEEMS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE IMPALA. THE PROBLEM CAUSES THE CAR TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE IT SHUTS OFF, IT JUST DIES RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FIRST THE TRACTION LIGHT WILL COME ON A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THEN YOUR CAR WILL SAY SOMETHING LIKE SHUTTING DOWN, THEN IT WILL JUST TURN OFF. THIS IS VERY SCARY. DRIVING HOME FRIDAY NIGHT 12/26/12 ON CRUISE SET AT 65, BANG, CAR DROPPED POWER DRASTICALLY, KICKED OFF CRUISE, AND THE THREE ROTATING MESSAGES APPEARED ON DASH, 1)SERVICE STABILITRAK, 2)SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, & 3)ENGINE POWER REDUCED. BOTH ORANGE PLACARDS LIT UP ON DASH, SERVICE ENGINE AND TRACTION. PULLED OUT OF TRAFFIC AND RE STARTED THE CAR. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AT NORMAL SPEEDS BUT CODES STILL ROTATING AND PLACARDS STILL LIT. COULDN'T GET IT INTO THE SHOP UNTIL MONDAY 12/31/12. WHEN I STARTED IT UP TO TAKE IT IN, CODES WERE ALL CLEARED AND CAR RAN JUST FINE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, NEARLY AT THE END OF A 50 MILE TRIP, THE CAR WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY WITH NO ABNORMAL NOISES OR INDICATIONS OF PROBLEMS. I DROVE THE CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT AND WAS MAKING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN, TRAVELING AT ABOUT 15 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SCREECHED TO AN IMMEDIATE HALT AND STALLED THE ENGINE. THE SUDDEN STOP WAS VIOLENT AND THREW ME AGAINST MY SEATBELT. I MOVED THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. THE ENGINE RAN SMOOTH AND WITHOUT ANY UNUSUAL NOISE. I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE, BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND IT MADE LOUD GRINDING AND CLUNKING SOUNDS. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, BUT STILL IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND AGAIN MADE LOUD NOISES. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND A FRIEND CAME OVER TO HELP ME PUSH THE CAR...
THE 2010 IMPALA WAS AT HWY SPEEDS AT APPROX 65MPH. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE MESSAGE DISPLAY WAS FLASHING TRACTION CONTROL FAILURE. THE LIGHTS STAYED ON. IT ALSO SAID ENGINE AT REDUCED SPEEDS . THE TRACTION CONTROL FAILED AT HWY SPEEDS WHICH LEFT ME COASTING TO REDUCED SPEEDS AND THEN THE CAR SHUT OFF AT 20 MPH WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKING. I HAVE A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. I HAVE REMAINED CURRENT ON ALL OF MY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THE CAR RECENTLY HAD THE WARNINGS: SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE TRAC STABILITY AND ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER TWENTY MINUTES AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES WHEN DRIVING EXTENDED DISTANCES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
