Fuel smell - possible fuel leak - the issue had been previously addressed with replacement of fuel subassembly in both saddle tanks. I believe that it is happening again ...

There was a strong fuel smell after the last 2 times I drove it. I took it to the shop and they tell me the evap canister was saturated and the fuel pump had small cracks in it likely seeping when the car heats up. I am having the fuel pump replaced, the evap canister and several seals/hoses in hopes it won't leak again.

After filling the tank with fuel, I was immediately aware of a strong smell of gas. I am always extremely careful not to overfill causing any fuel to escape. The heavy smell/escape of fumes is such that the car simply can’t be put in my garage. The risk of igniting and fire is a risk that is unacceptable. General Motors knows about this issue as they did notify me in 2017 that my car could have this condition and that if it did, they would fix it at no charge. I didn’t have the issue at that time so didn’t take the car in. So, now that I the problem, I have taken the car to Bradley Chevrolet in my town, Lake Havasu City, AZ and am told that in order to inspect the car for this issue, I will have to pay for 10 hours of labor ($2200) and...

Fuel smell inside and outside when car is parked.

There is a strong smell of gasoline coming from the outside of the car. It is strongest once the car has been sitting in my garage overnight. Some evidence of fuel under the car.

There is a fuel leak most likely coming from the fuel pump or gasket from within the 2 gas tanks. Gas fumes are building up in my garage causing a horrible smell. Very dangerous please do something about this. Chevrolet has no recalls for this common problems.

Strong fuel smell inside car as well as in garage. Drivers side tank does appear to have a leak when filled. Doing a search online it appears this is a common issue with this vehicle and that a recall/repair was created for owners however my 2007 (not the original owner) I suspect has since expired. In my opinion any defects that puts the owner and personal property at risk should be covered regardless of age.

Strong smell in car of gasoline and around car

We are having an issue with our vehicle leaking fuel on left side fuel tank. The vehicle is constant smell of gas on that left side. It has been a safety concern for us and the dealer wants us to pay at least $1200 just for diagnostic alone. There was a Special Coverage Adjustment for this issue but we were never notified. The notice is Special Coverage Adjustment 15682. I spoke with GM/Chevrolet Customer Assistance and spoke with [XXX] he said I would have to get diagnostic and that the fee could be applied to repair. I understand there is a time limit on most things but it seems that something that relates to safety issue should not have and end date. This is a type of car that most people just have as a collector car and you can see by the low miles that this is the case....

Very strong fuel smell from driver side wheel well and inside of car. When car is parked inside garage it is unbearable.

For last 3 years whenever I fill my vehicle with gas the garage smells of gas until the tank is less than half a tank... The other major issue is the vehicle will not come out of park multiple time. This has put me in embarrassing situations many times. I stay away from driving the vehicle so many times when I could be in physical danger .

I started smelling gas from my car two weeks ago. I discovered on Corvette Forum.com that this is a common problem. If the car is filled up over 1/2 tank gas will come out of the top and drip on the exhaust, which is very concerning. Chevrolet claims that the cars with this issue were recalled, but mine was not. This is one of two reoccurring issues with the C6 Corvette, and unfortunately, I am a victim of both. The other is the shifter locks in place, and the car will not come out of park. Chevrolet does not own up to the responsibility for this defective engineering as well. Please add me to the complaints for these two recallable issues as Chevrollet refuses to address the issue. Fuel dripping on the exhaust preplexes me why NHTSA has not got involved already.

There is a very strong fuel odor coming from the car when I shut it down, especially when I park in the garage. The smell is overwhelming. Seems like it's coming from the rear part of the car, drivers side. I don't see fuel leaking nor on the garage floor, but it is very evident there is a problem. Every time the fuel tank is filled to full (not past the click), there is a very bad fuel smell but no fuel leaking on the ground. I bought the car with 69000 and have noticed it every time I have filled the tank to full but never past the "click". I have read of many others having the same problem. I am afraid to park my car inside my garage. I have had fuel system parts replaced but it still continues. No leak has ever been noted.

I recently purchased my 2007 c6 corvette used. I did not notice anything until I started my drive home which was a 200 mile drive. the gas gauge was reading 1/4 tank of gas and dropped to empty. We stopped in at the gas station and filled the tank but once we did the gauge continued to read empty and a light displayed on the dash stating service fuel system. We continued to drive on our way home and we noticed a strong fuel odor inside the cabin of the car and distinctively from the driver side of the vehicle. JUST PURCHASED THIS USED CAR WITH LESS THAN 3000 MILES. I HAPPENED TO COME ACROSS THE FUEL LEAK ISSUE IN ONLINE FORUM. SINCE I REC'D INCOMPLETE SERVICE RECORDS, I DO NOT KNOW IF THE REPAIR HAS BEEN DONE TO MY CAR. THIS IS JUST NOT RIGHT WHEN TH EPROBLEM COULD CREATE A FUEL LEAK ONTO THE EXHAUST. RECENTLY, 03/01/2021, FILLING GAS TANK TO OVER 1/2 FULL ON MY PARKED 2007 C6 CORVETTE, WITH 30,360 MILES, PARKED VEHICLE CAUSED STRONG INTERIOR GAS ODOR. ON FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND COMMUNICATION WITH GM, I WAS INFORMED FUEL PUMP WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE FUEL PUMP WAS THEN REDESIGNED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE; HOWEVER, REPLACEMENT OF FAULTY FUEL PUMP WAS ONLY GIVEN A WARRANTY EXTENSION INSTEAD OF RECALL. CONSEQUENTLY, I WAS NEVER GIVEN A NOTICE OF THE DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT EXISTED IN MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS NOW BEYOND THAT EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD FOR SPECIFIC PARTS; AND, AS AN OWNER, I WAS NEVER NOTICED OF THIS KNOWN ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS NOT REQUIRED UNLESS IT IS A RECALL. AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK, A STRONG GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL REMAINED AND HASN'T DISPERSED.

WHEN I FILL UP VEHICLE OF COURSE WITH NOT OVER FLOWING OR TOPPING IT OFF THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS ON DRIVER SIDE NO SIGNS OF LEAK AND SMELL IS VERY NOTICEABLE IN CABIN AS WELL. SMELL IS STRONG IN GARAGE WHEN LEFT IN OVER NIGHT EVEN WHEN NOT FILLING UP THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN THERE COULD HAVE HALF A TANK AND MAYBE PUT ADDITIONAL 5 DOLLARS TO GET TO 3/4 TANK ISSUE IS STILL THERE.

DUE TO USE OF PLASTICS THAT TEND TO CRACK, AM NOW EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH FUEL PUMP ON DRIVER'S SIDE. DRIVING CONTINUES TO PRODUCE GAS SMELL. EXTREMELY COMPLICATED FIX THAT REQUIRES DROPPING GAS TANK AND POSSIBLY TRANSMISSION TO REACH FUEL PUMP.

LAST MONTH WHEN I FILLED THE GAS TANK I HAD A STRONG ODER OF GAS WHEN I PARKED MY CAR IN THE GARAGE. NOW I SMELL GAS IN THE CAR AS I DRIVE IT. I DID NOT OVERFLOW THE GAS TANK UPON REFILL.

CORVETTE HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH FUEL SMELL COMING FROM THE CAR AFTER YOU FILL THE TANK.THIS ISSUE IS VERY SERIOUS. FUEL LEAKS OUT THE TOP OF THE TANKS, AND WILL THEN DRIP DOWN THE BACK SIDE ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST. IF IGNORED THIS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE AND POSSIBLE DEATH. IF PARKED OVERNIGHT IN A GARAGE, THE VAPOR WILL FILL THE GARAGE AND COULD EASILY BE TRIGGERED INTO AN EXPLOSION AND FIRE FROM A GAS WATER HEATER OR OTHER IGNITION SOURCE. I CAN'T PARK MY C6 IN MY GARAGE WITHOUT IT FILLING THE ENTIRE GARAGE WITH FUMES SO STRONG THAT I CAN'T EVEN KEEP MY DOGS IN THERE. THE VAPORS THEN SEEP INTO THE HOUSE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER MECHANIC TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED AS A LEAK IN THE LEFT FUEL TANK. FROM THE INVOICE I RECEIVED "FOUND FUEL LEAK AT LEFT TANK. REMOVE DRIVE LINE AND REMOVE LEFT TANK. FOUND FUEL MODULE LEAKING. REPLACE MODULE AND TANK HOSES WITH DRIVE LINE REMOVED. REMOVE RIGHT TANK AND REPLACE SENDING UNIT AND ALL PLASTIC HOSES. ALSO NECESSARY TO REPLACE LEFT TANK HARNESS DUE TO FUEL CONTAMINATION." THIS REPAIR COST $3,300. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT DISCOUNT ANY MONEY OFF...

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL WAS DETECTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. EVEN WHEN THERE WAS FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR SHOWED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EMPTY. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES OCCURRED PERIODICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
