2014 CHEVROLET CAMARO Electrical System Problems

Anytime the break is pressed it causes the center console from working properly: audio stops, display does not work, turn signal sounds do work, lock/unlock buttons don’t work, AC system does not work. Radio console should be recalled. This issue started over 4 years ago and it continues to get progressively worse. Costly to repair.

The radio makes a loud pop & makes me jump as it goes on & off whenever it wants to. As this happens, the dash light turns off, the heater/ac turns off, the signal lights stop flashing, & when the turn signal is activated it makes a loud static noise that flashes through the speakers. About 80% of the time I stop, I put the car into 'park" and attempt to remove the key, it is stuck. The solenoid in the steering column will not release the key although it is in position 2. My wife just left the key stuck and it drained the battery, stranding her. I have not taken the car to the dealer but research online has shown that this is a widespread problem among Camaros and other Chevrolet vehicles between 2010-2015. Users report the Chevy is refusing to declare a recall and dealers are charging $700 to replace the gear shifter which houses the switch that activates the solenoid in the steering column.

There is a distracting pop in the radio which also affects the signal lights, the heater and air conditioner controls, and the controls for the radio itself. There are numerous complaints on the web for this same year vehicle with the same problem. It is very distracting as when the radio pops it makes a loud noise that is similar to running over something or hitting something with your vehicle. The key gets stuck in the accessory position rendering the car unable to be shut off, you have to keep shifting and putting it back into park while engaging the lever very hard several times to allow the button to release the key . Doing research online, as it was getting progressively worse, I have found that many Chevy owners experience this same problem. I found videos and threads that owners discovered it is the shifter assembly not the ignition. My car is currently at the dealership while they replace the assembly, confirming it is damaged. This will cost me about 1000 dollars to fix after tax. I have 8100 miles on my car, and it's in excellent condition. I can show the invoice when It is finished being repaired

When I drive my knee turns the key, causing a the car to turn off. This is a safety issue that is concerning I am a mom. Every time my knee hits the part key while the car is on it turns the car off. The heater is an issue I have air but no heat. In order for me to fix the heater I told they would have to remove the entire window, but I would have to sign a waiver, because the window could break. Then they would have to remove the dash and another part in order to fix the heat in the car. This is in my opinion a safety issue I don’t understand how the heater could be fixed without causing the window in the car to possibly break. My car radio and dash panels or not work. Also the aduio warning fails to sound when i leave keys in car and when i have seat belt off. They have recall the 2016 cars for this same problem that the 2014 has and have not issued a recall for the other years.

When I purchased it 3 years ago, the driver side white tail light would work, then it wouldn't. Bulb & fuse are fine. Now it doesn't work at all. Radio turns off & on with a pop sound through the speakers while driving at random times.

The radio will pop and all power goes out to the radio the heater and air conditioner. Will come back on after 5-10 seconds the pops again and it repeats. Even if the radio is off and not moving. I have a video of this.

WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, THE KEY WILL NOT ROTATE TO THE LOCK POSITION, AND CAR ONLY HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER MOVING THE GEAR SELECTOR MANY TIMES FROM DRIVE TO PARK THE KEY FINALLY ROTATES TO THE LOCKED POSITION TO ALLOW REMOVAL OF THE KEY. DURING THIS SUMMER THE ISSUE HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE AND WORSE, TO THE POINT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANYWHERE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.

SIGNAL LIGHTS, SAFETY HAZARD LIGHTS AND THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING.

WHILE TRAVELING, THE RADIO SUDDENLY MADE A LOUD POP NOISE AND THE INFORMATION PANEL WENT OUT...INFORMATION PANEL BEGAN FLICKERING ON AND OFF, ALSO AFFECTING THE AC/HEAT CONTROLS AND WHEN USING THE BLINKER, IT WOULDN'T MAKE A SIGNAL SOUND. THE LACK OF BLINKER SOUND LEADS ME TO WONDER IF THE BLINKERS EVEN WORK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS PROBLEM RANDOMLY HAPPENS AND WHEN IT DOES, IT'S VERY DISTRACTING AND THE LOUD POP NOISE IS EXTREMELY UPSETTING. I HAVE FOUND ON NUMEROUS FORUMS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE CHEVY CAMARO AND GM DOESN'T SEEM CONCERNED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES, TURN ON MY HIGH/LOW BEAMS, OR USE MY TURN SIGNAL, THE RADIO GLITCHES. IT ALSO GLITCHES WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING IN THE CAR WHAT SO EVER. THE STEREO AND THE A/C AND THE CONSOLE LIGHTS TURN ON AND OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THERE IS A LOUD POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS EVERY TIME IT CUTS OFF. MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

THE RADIO IS MAKING A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND BLACK OUT THE AIR GOES OUT WITH IT IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING HIT THE CAR AND THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE LIGHTS FLICKER ON THE CLIMATE CONTROL PANEL.

RADIO SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY DURING DRIVING CITY STREETS AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BLOWERS WILL SOMETIMES SHUT OFF WHEN THE RADIO TURNS OFF. DASH LIGHTS ALSO FLICKER 5-10 TIMES WHEN RADIO SHUTS OFF AND AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF. WHEN PULLING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, SPEAKERS POP LOUDLY. EXTREMELY DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS. NO ISSUE WITH BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR. GM SAYS THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE, HOWEVER THERE ARE MULTIPLE VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE AND FORUMS ONLINE OF THIS ISSUE. APPARENTLY THERE'S A POSSIBLE SOLUTION BY CUTTING THE 18TH WIRE, FURTHEST WHITE WIRE TO THE LEFT BEHIND THE STEREO FACE PLATE. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

CONTACTED BOTH GM AND CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN PAWLEY'S ISLAND; TOLD ME NO RECALLS, WOULD HAVE TO BRING IN FOR ANALYSIS; HOWEVER INDICATED THAT IT WOULD COST AROUND $1,000. HOW WOULD THEY KNOW THE COST UNLESS THEY KNOW THE PROBLEM? I ALSO HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE.
