My vehicle is included in BMW Recall Campaign No. 25V 644 – Engine Starter. It has repeatedly failed to start, and on two separate occasions the engine completely stalled while I was stopped at a traffic light. Each time, it took multiple attempts before the car would restart. I have also been stranded in numerous parking lots—during both extreme heat and freezing temperatures—with my children because the vehicle would not start. These incidents were unexpected, unsafe, and entirely consistent with the symptoms described in the recall. We have experienced these problems since purchasing the vehicle, but at the time we had no reason to believe we needed to document every occurrence. Now that BMW has acknowledged a fire risk defect and still has no available remedy, I do not feel safe continuing to operate this car. BMW has even advised owners not to park in a garage due to the...
The check engine light on my 2020 BMW X7 intermittently illuminates and then clears without warning. A BMW technician diagnosed the cause as a malfunctioning active grille shutter assembly at the front of the vehicle. Research shows this is a widespread issue among BMW X5 and X7 models of similar years, with many owners reporting the same failure and expensive repairs. This appears to be a systemic defect, not an isolated incident. Because the grille shutter directly affects engine airflow and cooling, this issue raises reliability and potential safety concerns and should be reviewed for a possible recall.
The contact owns a 2020 BMW X7. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V644000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left turn, the vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic. The contact immediately depressed the brake and attempted to shift into park(P), but the transmission failed to respond as needed. The contact remained in the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed until Roadside Assistance arrived. The contact stated that the Roadside Assistance team held the start button down and the gear selector was shifted into neutral(N) for a second and continued to inadvertently shift back to park(P). The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who was unable to properly diagnose the vehicle and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the starter needed to...
The contact owns a 2020 BMW X7. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine failed to turn over. The message "Starter Motor Overheating" was displayed; however, there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the starter motor and battery were faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact was also advised that the coolant needed to be drained and refilled. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V576000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
The contact owns a 2020 BMW X7. The contact stated that after parking and later attempting to start the vehicle, the message "Starting Engine Possible After Engine Overheat" was displayed, and the vehicle failed to start. The contact waited several hours before the vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was driven to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the starter had overheated. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the starter module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V576000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) which required a software update. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall after the recall repair was performed. The...
Emergency call system malfunction error on the dash. The SOS system is not working nor the GPS or any associated ContactedDrive services as the Internet is failed too. This is dangerous to have nonworking SOS in case of an emergency. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON X7 but yet no recall from BMW. The reason of this failure is believed to be faulty installation of shark fin antenna from the BMW factory. Its not sealed properly and water can get inside damaging the TCB unit (corroded or shorted the pcba ) This repair is costing users estimated $3k-$4k if car is just out side of warranty. I believe thousands are affected by this fault that originated at BMW’s factory. I believe in you to do the right thing. Please help. I cannot afford this expensive repair. Expecting - BMW should issue a voluntary recall or at the very least conduct...
The instrument cluster malfunctions - effectively taking the computer dark. This is so widespread they are indefinitely back ordered. Essential car part that is failing too early in lifecycle — still a new car, not a mileage issue Not safe to drive — must have this part Part is on back order indefinitely which is a red flag and makes us think broader systemic issue with part/class of vehicle Need to find a solution that ensures safety of family and recognizes this issue Repeat BMW customer and want to continue to be so but feeling very uncomfortable and vulnerable given the above
On 11/23/2021 while driving the computer screen stated malfunction with personal protection device with in 10 seconds the rear of the car burst into flames the fire inspector from our insurance company traced the cause of the event to the fuse box neither BMW or the dealership will take any responsibility this car had never been repaired and only authorized dealership did yearly service
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70MPH, MY STEERING AND BRAKE SYSTEM BECOME LESS RESPONSIVE. COULD NOT BRAKE FULLY. ELECTRONIC CONSOLE GAVE A NUMEROUS WARNING ALERTS, INCLUDING: CROSS TRAFFIC WARNING, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE, RESTRAINT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, AND POSSIBLE CHASSIS MALFUNCTION. I WAS TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF AN OFFRAMP, AND NEEDED ABOUT 100-200 FEET FOR THE CAR TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, DESPITE PUMPING THE BRAKES.
