I am getting a this message “passenger restraint system malfunction. a lot of people are getting the same message. I find out the reason for that is Water is getting inside the car every time is raining from the passenger side and moisture buildup causing that. Every time I have to use a space heater to dry the car and is cleared it. But I am afraid the airbag not work properly if this keep happening and BMW is charging a lot of money this fix it after few months is came back again.

THE VEHICLE STARTED TO COLLECT WATER WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE IN THE CAR. IT WAS ONLY UNTIL A UNNOTICEABLE NOISE CAME FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. I INSPECTED IT AND THE REAR AREA WAS SOAKED WITH WATER. SO BMW THINKS IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO STORE ALOT OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT IN THE REAR WERE THE WATER WAS. THEY FIRST CLAIMED THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY CLOGGED DRAINS AND THAT IF THEY WERE CLOGGED, THAT NOTHING WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS "AN OUTSIDE FORCE". AFTER THE INSPECTION, THEY TELL ME THAT A LEAK WAS DISCOVERED AND THAT IT WAS FIXED. BUT NOTHING WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE WATER GOT INTO THE CAR. THEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OLDER MODELS AND DUE TO IT BEING A BAD DESIGN OF THE CAR, REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT WAS THEIR PROBLEM. I READ THAT THERE WAS A SETTLEMENT BACK IN...

WHILE DRIVING ON THE I-15 SOUTH NEAR CAMINO DEL NORTE, MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE CAME FROM THE INSIDE, BACK, DRIVERS SIDE FROM THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS! AS I ENTERED THE 15 A FEW MILES BEFORE, I NOTICED ALL OF THE PRESET STATIONS WEREN'T WORKING AND THEN THE CAR GAVE AN AIR BAG WARNING. AFTER THE AIRBAG WARNING, THERE WAS A PARKING BRAKE WARNING. THAT IS WHEN I PULLED OVER, GRABBED MY PURSE, AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. I CALLED 9-1-1.THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT THE FIRE OUT.

MY HUSBAND WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT. HE STATED THAT THE CAR IN FROM OF HIS WAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE OTHER VEHICLE. WE HAVE A NEW BMW X5 SUV AND HE HIT A LEXUS SUV- BOTH SUBSTANTIAL VEHICLES. BOTH CARS WERE NOT DRIVABLE FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT. THERE IS MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE- POSSIBLE THE CAR IS TOTALED. I'M NOT SURE YET. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE IMPACT FRACTURED HIS STERNUM. HE DEVELOPED PNEUMONIA 2 DAYS LATER BECAUSE OF THE PAIN IN BREATHING- THE ACCIDENT WAS WED. NIGHT BUT THE FRACTURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. I TOOK HIM BACK TO THE ER FRI AFTERNOON, WHEN THE FRACTURE AND SUBSEQUENT PNEUMONIA WAS DIAGNOSED. HE WAS ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND IS STILL THERE. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH WHATSOEVER, AND AS SUCH, WOULD SWING FREELY TO FULL OPEN. CLOSING THE DOOR WOULD ONLY BOUNCE IT OFF THE CAR BODY AND WOULD NOT LATCH. I INSPECTED THE LATCH AND FOUND THE DOOR LATCH TO BE IN EXACTLY THE SAME POSITION AS THE OTHER PASSENGER DOORS AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH WHEN CLOSING FROM INSIDE, OUTSIDE OR WITH DOORS LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAD NO RESISTANCE AT ALL OR ANY FEELING OF BEING CONNECTED TO THE DOOR LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE DEALER AND THE LATCH REPLACED AS WELL AS A CONNECTION WITH THE LATCH AND THE DOOR LOCK AND HANDLE. I WAS TOLD BY BMW THAT THE DOOR LATCH WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND BOTH KIDS BACK FROM BRUNCH SUNDAY EARLY AFTERNOON - THE LEFT REAR DOOR OPENED ON ITS OWN. IT WAS FULLY CLOSED PREVIOUSLY AND ABOUT A MILE OR TWO DOWN THE ROAD IT POPPED OPEN AND BECAME AJAR WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE CAR INDICATED A DOOR WAS OPEN. I HAD PERSONALLY CLOSED THE DOOR AND AM SURE THAT IT WASN'T OPEN WHEN I STARTED DRIVING, THE CAR WOULD HAVE NOTIFIED ME ANYWAY. I PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT AND TOOK PHOTOS WHICH I'VE SENT TO BMW. MY DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT WAS STRAPPED INTO A CAR SEAT WITH 5-POINT HARNESS AND SEPARATE ARM RESTS. SHE SAYS SHE DID NOT TOUCH THE DOOR IN ANY WAY TO TRIGGER THE INCIDENT.
