Defect: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2014 X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i and X1 xDrive35i vehicles. The affected vehicles may have battery positive (B+) cables that develop high resistance in the connections to the fuse box.
Consequence: The high resistance may result in loss of the cable's electrical connection, possibly causing an engine stall and preventing the vehicle from restarting, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the B+ cable connector with one that is silver coated and better secure it to the fuse box, free of charge. The recall began April 3, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer...

Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag module or inflator depending on the vehicle model, free of charge. The recall began March 9, 2018. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

BMW OF NORTH AMERICA HAS INDICATED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS SO SEVERE THAT THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE AND WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY LIABILITY!!

VEHICLE IGNITION TURNED OVER AND BEFORE 30 SECONDS I NOTICED SMOKE IN MY PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND A SMALL ELECTRICAL FIRE BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR HANDLE. THE VALET LIGHTING WAS NOT INVOLVED BUT I BELIEVE IT WAS THE TOUCH SENSOR USED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. IT WAS RAINING AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT AND I WAS ABLE TO SMOTHER THE FIRE WITH A WET TOWEL AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE IGNITION ETC. MELTED PLASTIC AND RUBBER WAS NOTED.
WINDOW REGULATOR WENT BAD AND STARTED HEARING SOUND JUST LIKE WINDOW CRACK.
