Hi, Vehicle experienced sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate while driving. Engine entered limp mode and would not rev beyond approximately 2,000 RPM. Vehicle became unsafe to operate in traffic due to lack of acceleration. Dealer diagnosed fault code P0087 (fuel rail/system pressure too low) and confirmed failure of the high-pressure fuel pump. Vehicle had hard starting, delayed throttle response, and multiple warning lights related to engine, emissions, and drivetrain systems. This appears to be a fuel system failure affecting vehicle safety. Acura previously issued fuel-system-related recall(s) for similar vehicles, and this failure occurred despite prior recall-related service. Repair cost is approximately $2,400. Failure resulted in loss of engine power and posed a safety risk, especially when attempting to merge or accelerate in traffic. Vehicle mileage is approximately 160,000 miles.
While driving on the highway this vehicle shifted into neutral and lost power. Once pulled to the side of the road, the vehicle was able to be turned off and re started. This happened to my teenage daughter without warning.
My vehicle is showing the exact same symptoms that the 2016-2018 MDX fuel pump recall is stating but my VIN number is not part of the vehicles being recalled. I reached out to Acura relations and unfortunately, they cannot provide authorization to repair my fuel pump even though my vehicle falls under the same years that this model is being recalled for. I went to an independent shop to try and understand what the problem with my vehicle is and I was told that the high pressure fuel pump seems to be failing and was asked why I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership for the fuel pump recall. Due to this issue I am unable to properly use my vehicle. If i step on the accelerator too hard, the vehicle gets engine misfires and immediately goes on limp mode.
After starting the engine, when attempting to slowly accelerate, the engine almost dies or hesitates to respond to accelerator. Dangerous situation.
“Emissions system problem” warning light has lit up on dashboard twice. This was checked and found to be a faulty code both times however, the second time it occurred, it correlated with the sway bars needing to be replaced.
We have a 2016 Acura MDX and it has automatically shifted to Neutral 3 times (twice while driving on the freeway and 1x yesterday while driving on the street at normal speeds) in the last 2 months. On the MDX dashboard, it will display "Emissions System Problem" and then display "Stop Driving When Safe. Transmission Problem. See Manual." However, the car will automatically shift to Neutral within seconds. My children's lives (7 y/o and 5 y/o) were placed in danger as a result of this system failure. I have contacted the Acura Honda Recall Specialists and Client Relations Representatives. The car is being diagnosed at Cerritos Acura dealership at the present time. A case number has been filed since our VIN shows no recall, despite it having recalls for other 2016 Acura MDXs.

Acura MDX 2016 SH-AWD with 113366 miles diagnosis according to warning lights. DTC test certification codes: P0301 Misfire No. 1 cylinder P0306 Misfire No. 6 cylinder P0300 Random Misfire P0420 Catalyst System efficiency below threshold B1 Recommendation was that the Catalytic converter be replaced. All these codes were identified under Honda's TSB 20-100 dated 2/2021 on Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline models where AH extended warranty to 10 years from date of purchase or 150K. These V6 engines are pretty close to that of the 2016 MDX. Is there a remote possibility that these DTC codes could exist in MDX V6 engines when an issue arises similar to those in the Honda vehicles? The auto engine idle stop on my 2016 Acura MDX has left me in precarious situations at stop signs and/or traffic lights at least twice before the recall notification I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago. The engine turned off as designed but then would not turn back on like it should without a delay. The worst incident was when my teenage Daughters were in the car with me! After receiving the recall notice recently and taking the vehicle into the dealership within days of the notification, my “software update fix” by the dealership (Napleton Acura in West Palm Beach) completely disabled my auto engine idle stop! After calling the service rep I dealt with later that day and telling him about it, I was told the software update made the “turn-off” feature more specific and mine didn’t meet the parameters! On a multi-day road trip, the car had a temporary complete loss of power on two separate days. Both times this happened after several hours of driving at highway speeds on I-15 in California, outside temperatures were in the 90s. After a slight deceleration and then applying the accelerator again, there was a 'clunk' like sound possibly from the transmission, and then a complete loss of power. The first time I tried to pull over to the breakdown lane, and then regained power after about 2-3 seconds. The second time, we were in the middle of traffic and were not able to pull over, but again after 2-3 seconds, the power came back. The engine did not rev up when applying the accelerator and there were no dashboard lights. This appeared to be either a transmission, fuel delivery, or engine management/drive by wire issue. My mechanic replaced the battery on May 9th and could smell gas but I had just fueled the vehicle. Two days later is when it got worse while driving back home I pulled over and could smell gasoline inside the vehicle as if an open gas can was sitting in the passenger seat. I stopped using the vehicle and took it to my mechanic and he discovered a crack in the weld on the front fuel rail. This could have harmed my family, pets or myself if it had caught on fire. In 1 hour I used a quarter tank of gas because of the high pressure pushing the gas on to the engine. Vehicle taken to Anchorage Acura and the Acura mechanic confirmed what my mechanic found. There were no warning lights or indications of anything wrong until I could smell the gas.
Stalling when accelerating. Safety hazard because the car basically dies temporarily and slows down. I have to pump the gas pedal for several seconds to get it going again.
ENGINE LIGHT ON STATING: LEAN CODE, ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEMS PROBLEM, EMMISION SYSTEM PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING WHEN IT CAME ON.
WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROAD ALL OF A SUDDEN THE 3 ERRORS CAME ON THE DASH BOARD TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, AND BLIND SPOT SYSTEM PROBLEM, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT RIGHT AND GRINDING OF THE GEAR IS HEARD, CAR QUICKLY SLOW DOWN. AFTER STOPPING AND START UP AGAIN, ERRORS STILL THERE BUT TRANSMISSION COULD NOT SHIFT INTO HIGHER GEARS AND CAR TOPS OUT AT 30MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW DAYS AND WE ARE NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR LOCAL ROADS, HIGHWAY WOULD BE BAD UNTIL WE GET IT FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THE CAR LOSES POWER AT AN INTERSECTION.
PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2016 ACURA MDX SH-AWD W/ TECH A FEW WEEKS AGO & FROM DAY ONE THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION OFF A COMPLETE STOP LIKE A STOP SIGN, STOP LIGHT, COMING OFF PARK OR UPON PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, WILL REV HIGH THROUGH FIRST, JUMP INTO 2 STILL REVVING HIGH BEFORE FINALLY MOVING WHEN IT HITS 3RD. IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHEN OTHER TRAFFIC IS ONCOMING AS YOU ARE EXPECTING TO "GO" & NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE UPON PURCHASE AT OUR REQUEST ON TWO OCCASIONS BUT TOLD US IT IS NORMAL & WILL ADJUST TO MY DRIVING STYLE. IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, MY SUV HAS STALLED EITHER AT A STOP LIGHT OR WHEN PARKED. IT WOULD SPUTTER ON TRYING TO RESTART. BATTERY WAS NOT AN ISSUE. THOUGHT IT WAS A STARTER ISSUE AND GOT A NEW STARTER. BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY AND THE TOW TRUCK GUY POWERED WITH JUMP START (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE) AND IT STARTED.

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT DALLAS ACURA (4801 LEMMON AVE, DALLAS, TX 75219, (214) 692-2872), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. MY 2016 ACURA MDX. STALLED TWICE. BOTH TIMES IN START AND STOP TRAFFIC WHEN STOPPED THE CYLINDER DEACTIVATION ENGAGED, HOWEVER THEN THE POWER WENT OUT COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING, IT TOOK ABOUT 5-10 MIN THEN THE PUSH TO START WORKED AND THE CAR RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND THE DASH STARTED SHOWING TRANSMISSION AND FUEL SYSTEM ERRORS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT BACK TO DRIVE MODE. ENGINE DOES NOT START AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COME UP ON DASHBOARD. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, EACH OF THE SYSTEM COMES UP AS FAILED. NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT. PURCHASED JAN 2016. HAS REPLACED --- NAVIGATION, AMPLIFIER & FUEL PUMP!!!
