Bulletin Summary
Generation of P0507 DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) when selecting ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode. For Emira 4-cylinder 2024/2025 model year vehicles, a fault within the EMS (Engine Management System) software can cause the unnecessary generation of DTC P0507 if ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode are selected in the sequence as shown below. With the vehicle stationary and engine running, the specific steps to recreate the fault are: - The engine speed has previously exceeded 4200 rpm in the same drive cycle that you wish to select ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’. - Depressing the brake pedal when either ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode is selected. - Then activating the parking brake with the brake pedal still depressed and then selecting D - Drive. - Then releasing the brake pedal with the parking brake still activated. - This will cause the engine speed will rise to 1100 rpm and approximately after 4 seconds, will result in DTC P0507 being generated. Note: This fault within the EMS software affects all market vehicles but will not be noticed except for Chinese and Federal markets, because for those markets, it will result in the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) being permanently illuminated until the fault code is cleared using EmiraDS. ACTION For Chinese and Federal Market Vehicles If you are presented with a 4-cylinder Emira where the MIL has been illuminated because of DTC P0507 generation: - Please confirm with the vehicle owner if the MIL became illuminated after selecting ‘Sport or ‘Track’ mode? If the owner is unsure, and you have checked and eliminated all other faults associated with DTC P0507 (engine idle speed higher than expected), such as an air intake leak or throttle sticking etc, then: - Clear the code and ask the owner to monitor the situation. Explain to the owner that if they wish to select ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode, then ensure: - That they do not allow the car to remain stationary in D - Drive with only the parking brake activated (i.e. brake pedal should be depressed or either N - Neutral or P - Park selected). - Then, with the brake pedal still depressed and the parking brake still active, select D- Drive. - Then with the brake pedal still depressed, manually release/deactivate the parking brake Or; - Release the brake pedal and the parking brake will automatically release/deactivate. - Allow the vehicle to move forwards or depress the throttle to achieve the desired acceleration.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
