Bulletin Summary
Some 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on 07-Jul-2021 and through 11-Jul-2021 may have previously not properly completed powertrain control module (PCM) reprogramming or programmable module installation (PMI) resulting with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U029E. PCM reprogramming and PMI for these vehicles has been updated in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. Programming no longer attempts to incorrectly program the nitrogen oxides sensor module 12 (NOX12) and should not result in a U029E DTC present. For vehicles that already have a U029E DTC present, NOX12 module replacement is necessary before attempting PCM programming.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
