Bulletin Summary
Some technicians, while diagnosing a Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illumination or other customer complaint, have reported finding DTCs U2100 and/or U2105 listed as "History" codes. If these codes are "History" codes, they are not the reason for an MIL illumination or other vehicle related concerns. These codes may occur when the key is turned on but will not activate an MIL. However, because these codes were found, they have led technicians to perform unnecessary diagnoses and repairs that have extended vehicle downtime and created costs that were not warrantable. The purpose of this bulletin is to remind technicians to perform diagnostic steps only for "Active/Current" U2100/U2105 codes. If these codes are "Inactive/History," please ignore them and focus your diagnosis on DTC's that are "Active/Current" and related to the illumination of the MIL and/or the customer's specific complaint.
