Bulletin Summary
Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from Kenworth Truck Company that a condition exists relating to motor vehicle safety, compliance, or emissions in a vehicle that is equipped with Altec equipment. Kenworth Truck Company has determined that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Model Year 2021-2024 T280, T380, and T480 vehicles built from 06/17/2020 through 01/17/2023. The brake pedal plunger may become dislodged when the brake pedal is fully depressed and rapidly released. This can prevent the driver from applying the service brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. No audible or visual warning is available. The risk of the brake plunger dislodging may be reduced by slowly releasing the service brakes and not allowing the pedal to release rapidly.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
