NHTSA Complaint #11716384 — 2019 FORD F-150

The 10‑speed automatic transmission (10R80) in my 2019 Ford F‑150 failed prematurely at 71,972 miles. Prior to failure, the vehicle exhibited repeated harsh shifting, slipping between gears, delayed engagement, and occasional sudden jolts during acceleration. These symptoms occurred during normal driving and created unsafe conditions, especially when merging or crossing intersections. The transmission ultimately required a full replacement on 07/23/2025 at a cost of $8,400. This is a major drivetrain component that should not fail at this mileage under normal use. I later learned that many other owners have reported similar issues with the 10R80 transmission across multiple model years. This appears to be a widespread defect affecting safety, drivability, and reliability. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA can investigate the pattern of premature failures and determine whether a recall or corrective action is warranted.
