NHTSA Complaint #11715901 — 2017 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from seventh to second gear. The contact stated the wrench icon was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the computer needed to be re-flashed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the computer needed to be re-flashed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again, where it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
