NHTSA Complaint #11710767 — 2013 DODGE DART

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH, and as he was driving over speed bumps, several warnings illuminated, and the vehicle became difficult to steer left or right. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed into a barrier post on the roadway on the driver's side front. The contact was able to stop the vehicle and observed that the damage was minimal, a small dent on the corner of the front bumper on the driver's side. The contact stated that he drove the vehicle back to his residence. The contact stated that when he shifted to park (P) the vehicle continued to move forward. The contact applied the brake and stopped. When he shifted to reverse (R) again, the vehicle was not responding to the gear shift lever. The contact stated that multiple warnings had illuminated on the instrument cluster, "service transmission" and numerous other unknown warnings. The contact stated that the PRNDL was flashing on the shifter console. The contact stated the engine stalled, and he was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact had received a recall letter from the manufacturer and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V674000 (Power Train). The contact had called a local dealer who advised that the remedy was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
