NHTSA Complaint #11709367 — 2019 HONDA HR-V

The digital instrument cluster in this 2019 Honda HR-V suddenly failed, resulting in the loss of the speedometer, odometer, and dashboard display functions. The failure occurred without warning and is not due to wear, misuse, or routine maintenance. Operating the vehicle without a functioning speedometer or odometer presents a serious safety risk, including potential speeding, traffic violations, and accidents. Other warning indicators integrated into the digital display may also be inaccessible, further compounding the safety hazard. Honda has diagnosed the problem and quoted a repair cost of $2,166.08. Goodwill assistance was previously denied in my case, citing that the vehicle is out of warranty and not subject to a recall. The vehicle is regularly used to transport family members, including a pregnant passenger (due March 2026). Continued operation in this condition is unsafe and unacceptable.
